How did you feel after 2nd AZ jab?

I had a moderate reaction to the first one. Exhaustion, sore arm, dizzy, generally unwell. Stayed in bed the next day

If you've have your 2nd was your reaction the same as to your first jab or different?

Wondering whether to plan anything for the day after.

Anecdotally, young people seem to be getting worse side effects off the second.

I'm not having the second because of the blood clot risk. It's crazy to think that young people are probably getting more sick off the AZ than they ever would off of Covid.

First; felt terrible within hours. 48 hours of flu symptoms and nausea. Arm was very painful for a week. Had high temp for 48 hours.
Had second at 9.30 am yesterday and no arm pain. No flu symptoms yet but do feel tired and my arms and one of my legs are having twinges which may be unrelated but are very annoying!

joystir59 · 04/06/2021 00:26

Very sore arm and very tired for two weeks after first. No reaction to the second.

Manzanilla55 · 04/06/2021 15:54

Very tired the day after. Great the day after that. Sore left arm for a good few days though.

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 04/06/2021 16:45

Thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely going ahead with the 2nd vaccine, no question.

1st: bad flu like reaction for 3/4 days. Shivers, body aches, headache etc. Treated with paracetamol and ibuprofen combined so I could dose more often.

2nd: had it 22 hours ago, woke up with a sore arm which feels worse than last time (but then last time I was dosed up anyway so wouldn't have felt it as much) and no other symptoms. Haven't done much today, and had a nap this afternoon - but that's not totally unheard of for a Friday 🤣. No other symptoms so far so hoping that's it.

Dixiechickonhols · 04/06/2021 17:03

First sore arm for 5 days and hungover/flu type feeling for 2 days.

Second I was tired and had an afternoon nap but probably due to booking first appointment at crack of Dawn. No other symptoms.

FuzzyPuffling · 04/06/2021 17:04

Fantastic and deeply grateful.

Bluntness100 · 04/06/2021 17:05

Second one for Astra is supposed to have milder effects than the first.

First, I’d mild cold flu symptoms and felt knackered, disappeared after 24 hours. Had the second today feel totally fine.

Bluntness100 · 04/06/2021 17:07

@Willyoujustbequiet

1st.. very poorly in bed for over a week. Unexplained bleeding from gums, nose bleeds etc..flagged up and yellow carded by gp. Advised against 2nd pending a battery of further tests

2nd jab....poorly in bed for 3 days. Ongoing headaches, dizziness, nausea and horrendous tinnitus, onset within 48 hours of the jab. Never had it before.

In my 40s, healthy and on no medication. I'm done. Never again.

That’s odd. Did the battery of further tests show no link then and that’s why you had the second? Must habe done?

Interesting thread! Just had my second jab this morning. So far, only feeling tired (had a nap at lunch time). Arm is a little sore but less so than last time.

PixieDust28 · 04/06/2021 17:24

Nothing. Didn't even have a sore arm.

ThatSchoolOfficeLady · 04/06/2021 17:27

Both jabs, right as nine pence. Was really ready to feel like rubbish. I'm 60 and I had AstraZeneca. So pleased I've had both and can feel safe in work.

DearTeddyRobinson · 04/06/2021 18:24

Watching with interest as I'm due my second on Thursday. DH was flattened after his first but fine after his second apart from a sore arm.
I was fine after my first apart from some tiredness so I'm blithely assuming I'll be fine for the next!

Talcott2007 · 04/06/2021 18:30

1st Jab - very tired, headache and flu-like symptoms for about 48hrs and desperately painful arm at the injection site for a bit longer than a week.

2nd jab - absolutely no symptoms at all

Cherrydown · 04/06/2021 18:32

I was very poorly after first jab, vomiting within 4 hours of it and then for 48hrs, very ill in bed for 5 days, awful headaches.

I was dreading my 2nd dose, had it yesterday and so far just a sore arm!

fluffiphlox · 04/06/2021 18:34

First one: headachey for a few days
Second one: nothing. Felt and feel fine

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 04/06/2021 18:35

Had 2nd Wednesday Sore arm and woke up in middle of night sweating buckets but so far fine. Better than no1.

Spodge · 04/06/2021 18:36

First - sore arm for about a week. Could use the arm but felt it every time I moved. Crushing fatigue kicked in after about 10 hours and lasted about 12 hours.

Second - nothing. Arm was a tiny bit tender but only if I touched the jab site.

Susie477 · 04/06/2021 18:36

DP had his second dose of AZ yesterday. He’s currently cooking dinner while drinking wine and criticising the government, so situation normal. Smile

gamerchick · 04/06/2021 18:38

First one just tired the next day. Slept a lot. The second one was still tired but just needed an early night.

After both I got a mega painful period a few days after getting them though. Wasn't due at all.

PickAChew · 04/06/2021 18:39

First one wiped me out for the whole of the next day. Arm was fine, though.
Felt a bit groggy after my second and tired easily, though functioned, at least. Arm was sore and my shoulder is only loosening up properly, 2 week on. Flu jab did the same to my shoulder.

Passionfruitpizza · 04/06/2021 18:59

Sore arm, vivid nightmares and a really painful lower back with second. Plus a bit tired.

Cookiesandscones · 06/06/2021 12:36

I had my second one yesterday 24 hours ago now and I have is a sore arm, had a slight headache this morning when I woke but I am generally a headachey person so not sure if it’s linked or just one of my general headaches. Other than that I feel fine

CrownKettle · 06/06/2021 14:08

Had my second yesterday. No side effects at all, feel fine. I had a sore arm after the first but I don’t even have that.
