How many of you have been eating inside at restaurants now?

We ended up needing to eat today in a city we were visiting (long story).
Tried lots of outdoor places but no tables free so we went into a huge fairly empty restaurant.
Bit by bit, it filled up and they ended up seating people quite closely together.

I have had both vaccines - second one was around 10 days ago.

Nobody except the waiters had masks on.

It's nice to be more back to normal. Today I went to three different places.Smile

If you’ve had both vaccines then there’s little more you can do to make yourself feel comfortable. The restaurants need to be able to seat a certain number of covers to be viable.

Of course people don’t wear masks in a restaurant where presumably they are talking, eating and drinking.

We have eaten inside many times since we were given permission to.

Twice, Pizza Express was buzzing, we had a lovely evening!

TO12T39FRQ · 30/05/2021 23:01

no. got used to being without them. actually didnt miss the mediocre, over priced food in quite drab and shabby surroundings, with staff who seemed bored and robotic..

anothernewtop · 30/05/2021 23:03

Yes, we have been for weeks.

Smartiepants79 · 30/05/2021 23:03

I’ve eaten in three different indoor restaurants this week. It’s been great!
I can’t think of a single good reason for why most people shouldn’t eat wherever they want.
You were one of the people in the restaurant, what if everyone there had a similar story to you? Should the other people not eat??
All the establishments I’ve been in had very clear rules about how many people were allowed in, where they could sit and how they had to behave when they were in there. Restaurants are being extremely careful in my opinion, they don’t want to get closed down again.

How can people eat a drink wearing a mask?

When I was on a ward in hospital in March I wore a mask in bed, needs must. but in a restaurant?

If you dont feel safe now, you never will.

XenoBitch · 30/05/2021 23:08

Of course nobody but staff had masks on... people are there to eat and drink. You can't do that with a mask on.

Womencanlift · 30/05/2021 23:10

Yes been quite a few times as where I am in Scotland we could eat inside from the end of April.

Only wear mask when walking to and from the entrance and if going to the toilet.

Would you expect people to be wearing them when seated at a table?

OliveTree75 · 30/05/2021 23:10

We sat inside to eat yesterday

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/05/2021 23:10

Yep, have been happily eating inside restaurants since it was allowed. We've both had Covid, and our first vaccine, so not much to be worried about from our POV.

CrownKettle · 30/05/2021 23:10

Yeah, been a couple of times. Was busy, had a really good time. Actually felt normal for the first time in ages.

Blankspace101 · 30/05/2021 23:11

Nobody except the waiters had masks on.

Were you wearing a mask?

Cowbells · 30/05/2021 23:12

Just once. The rest of the time we've managed to get outdoor seating.

LilyPond2 · 30/05/2021 23:21

Not yet. I had thought that I'd be OK with eating at an indoor restaurant once I'd had my second dose, but the very rapid spread of the Indian variant is making me nervous.

AcrossthePond55 · 30/05/2021 23:25

Just got back from Disney World (DH and I fully vaxxed) and we ate inside quite a lot. At first I felt a bit 'furtive' taking off my mask and eating, as if I was doing something wrong. But I soon relaxed and the feelings went away.

Of course, Disney was enforcing SD and keeping a mask on unless you were seated and actually eating.

idontlikealdi · 30/05/2021 23:25

Yes as soon as it was allowed, four times now. I've so missed not having to cook or get delivery.

Only need to wear a mask when moving around the restaurant not sitting at a table.

BreakingtheIce · 30/05/2021 23:28

Yes, quite a few times. I’m not nervous at all.

Spinningaround21 · 30/05/2021 23:29

Went away last week and ate inside each evening. I’m fully vaccinated and pubs/restaurants etc were closed for us from the November lockdown until April, not allowed to open in our tiers in December.

I was more than ready to get out and about come April! No masks at the table but walking around to the toilet etc and staff wear them. Felt fine and actually pretty normal. But then I’m fully vaccinated.

megletthesecond · 30/05/2021 23:30

I haven't.

Lazypuppy · 30/05/2021 23:32

Of course no one else is wearing a mask in a restaurant 🤦‍♀️ the rules are same as they have been for ages, once you are at a table no mask required.

Its brilliant, feels normal and i like the table service!

RosaBudDrood · 30/05/2021 23:33

And?

Why why would anyone be wearing masks indoors either? Hmm

Tatum1234 · 30/05/2021 23:38

Yes I’ve been in restaurants and taken the kids bowling. It’s been great to have some normality.

RedcurrantPuff · 30/05/2021 23:44

Yes - 6 times.

RedcurrantPuff · 30/05/2021 23:44

Sorry 7 times.
