How many of you have been eating inside at restaurants now?

We ended up needing to eat today in a city we were visiting (long story).
Tried lots of outdoor places but no tables free so we went into a huge fairly empty restaurant.
Bit by bit, it filled up and they ended up seating people quite closely together.

I have had both vaccines - second one was around 10 days ago.

Nobody except the waiters had masks on.

We had masks on whilst we ordered and the. Took them off to eat.
This particular place didn’t seem to distance the tables out tbh.
But yes, we were a bit stuck and had hungry kids so we ended up inside.
It is just boggling me now. At the time, it felt great to be doing something more normal, but it feels a bit scary!

Yes, I met my friend for lunch today, and another friend earlier in the week. I’ve only had one jab, but cases here are 10/100,000 right now so I feel fine about it.

DiscordandRhyme · 30/05/2021 23:46

Yes I did yesterday.

I had my mask on when not seated though.

RedcurrantPuff · 30/05/2021 23:46

You don’t need to wear masks when ordering.

If something very mundane like sitting in a restaurant feels “scary” even with tens of millions fully vaccinated iI fear for this country ever getting back to normal.

RedcurrantPuff · 30/05/2021 23:48

Actually 11 times cos I have had breakfasts out as well.

caringcarer · 30/05/2021 23:49

Not eaten indoors yet. Went to a cricket match outside today though and it was so good to see people again. Everyone say 2-3 metres apart though.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 30/05/2021 23:51

It’s really sad that we live in a world where it’s seen as “scary” to take a mask off in a restaurant. Redcurrant sums it up perfectly, we need to get on with life.

im2sad · 31/05/2021 00:00

We've eaten out about 10 times now, had a great time and felt completely safe.

swiftplus · 31/05/2021 00:06

We've eaten out once indoors, DH and I are both young/healthy enough not to be too worried about risk, and we've had our first vaccines. We wore masks when walking to/from table but not once seated.

Siepie · 31/05/2021 00:09

We have once and it didn't worry me. We didn't wear masks when sitting down. DP had had two vaccines, I (and DS) weren't vaccinated, but the tables were quite spaced out.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 31/05/2021 00:09

Yes. Last week we ate inside in Prezzo
Had a brilliant time. It was safe and well organised, we weren't rushed either.

buckeejit · 31/05/2021 00:14

I went to the same restaurant last Monday & Tuesday. It was lovely

FakingMemories · 31/05/2021 03:47

If two vaccines and staff in masks doesn’t make you feel “safe” from a virus with a survival rate over 99% I don’t know that to say to you.

MrsMiddleMother · 31/05/2021 04:28

I've eaten inside about 3 times now! Would be more if I had more money 😂 like pp's it's lovely to be acting more normal and getting on with life.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/05/2021 04:29

Yes we have quite a bit. In our local pub nobody is wearing masks any more. The staff have them on but mainly under their chins.

KatherineJaneway · 31/05/2021 05:07

I have been. Felt safe and it was nice to feel normal again.

RumHoney · 31/05/2021 06:59

Yes - we were on holiday last week and the weather meant sitting outside wasn't a great option. One place felt a bit more tightly packed than I'd have liked (mainly because it was small - not actually that many people, just not much space) but otherwise it felt nice to be doing normal things again and not shivering outside!

MRex · 31/05/2021 06:59

Yes, twice. The first was delightful in every way. The second was in central London and felt too enclosed / busy. I'd repeat the first every day of the week. In fact I will next week anyway.

Jobsharenightmare · 31/05/2021 07:15

I haven't once. When I have had both vaccines and am as protected as possible I will though. I will avoid very crowded places I expect. There's nothing wrong with being cautious OP. Just do what you think is best.

Mindymomo · 31/05/2021 07:18

We’ve only eaten outside so far. The pub that we went to said that although inside eating is now open, people are preferring to eat outside. They have a type of barn outside eating area, where every table has an overhead heater. We seem to put obstacles in the way, saying we will eat inside when DH and I are both double jabbed, now we are, we say we will wait until adult DS is vaccinated.

whatswithtodaytoday · 31/05/2021 07:19

Not until I've had both vaccinations - it seems daft to risk it now, when I'm so close to being so much safer. I'd happily eat outside (and have), but am very wary of busy indoor spaces and wouldn't want to sit in the same place for a long time.

Figgygal · 31/05/2021 07:20

Yes
2 local pubs for lunch
Even went to local cabaret bar Friday night for live music

Onceuponatime1818 · 31/05/2021 07:21

Most places I’ve been to you have to wear a mask inside to walk to your table past others sitting down.

We’ve eaten inside a couple of times but with this lovely weather would choose to sit outside any way.

Sirzy · 31/05/2021 07:23

I have eaten in a few trusted places. No issues at all with regards to feeling safe, much safer sat with people I know in a restaurant then I personally would feel in a shop with a load of strangers

NeedWineNow · 31/05/2021 07:30

Yes several times, and felt very comfortable. And been in pubs as well ( and hugged friends). Both me and DH are fully vaccinated and I test at least once a week as I've been into the office.
