@Katie517

Sorry but whether you agree with the march today or not I seriously can’t believe there are posters on this thread who are saying “we aren’t in lockdown anymore, what freedoms don’t we currently have?, the restrictions are lifted, it’s almost like normal” having restrictions on where you can travel abroad, mask wearing, legal limits on how many people you can have in your own home, businesses not able to operate at full capacity so unable to turn a profit, being legally forced to isolate for 10 days just because you may have come into contact with someone with covid, the government having emergency powers to close schools and businesses whenever they feel like it, none of this is normal and is a huge erosion of freedoms. Just because you can go to the pub again or go shopping certainly doesn’t mean our freedoms have been returned!

It’s right that people are expressing their concerns they aren’t conspiracy theorists or anti vaxers there are some people who are genuinely concerned about what is happening and the level of control the government/ unelected scientists have at the moment.

Exactly @Katie517 but people don’t want to hear this . The lack of critical thinking and thus group consensus shows the media budget and behavioural specialists have done a great job.

Criticising others, calling them idiots rather than actually realise a lot of their points are very valid. Yes there is some far right sadly in these protests but to be honest I see that just as much in the pro vaccine camps with posters talking about ‘’ machine gunning the lot of them” or making life truly uncomfortable for them . The loss of perspective is staggering

pinkearedcow · 30/05/2021 11:28

@Baluchistan95 I agree that June 21st changes may not happen, but not for any sinister reason-it will be because of the Indian variant. What is it we need to wake up to?

Saltedcaramel78 · 30/05/2021 11:31

@Nerdygirl

I don’t think you understand what far right ideology is

pinkearedcow · 30/05/2021 11:32

So @Nerdygirl what is really going on that the rest of us have been brainwashed into going along with? Who benefits?

WhatMattersMost · 30/05/2021 11:35

@Baluchistan95

Fantastic turn out yesterday. I ROFL at the gullible few on here who believed the MSM who reported that there were hundreds who attended yesterday's event, there were thousands!! I'm also amused at the number of posters on here who believe everything will return to normal on the 21st of June. Wake up, people.
Some of us are quite awake, Baluchistan95, even if we may not agree with everything you believe in. But that might be an inconvenient truth.
Nerdygirl · 30/05/2021 11:40

Haha whatever . What i see is akin to exclusivisim, xenophobic with the in group and the out group concept and a refusal to believe that anyway other than one way is not to be tolerated ! Traits I am seeing a lot from posters on here .

Parker231 · 30/05/2021 11:42

Everyone knows that 21 June is at risk. Will give additional time to get more vaccinations given and more monitoring of the figures for the Indian variant.
Sounds sensible rather than scary. I think we’re all awake! Off to buy picnic food and then to meet friends - life is good.

Nerdygirl · 30/05/2021 11:44

@pinkearedcow you can start by looking at who has benefitted already.

  • wealth of top 1% massively increased
  • government cronyism
  • ID cards which have previously been rejected now have a vehicle to get them through
  • green agenda - big commitments made which can be accelerated with lockdowns

So a few do benefit and have taken advantage of the opportunity covid afforded them .

Parker231 · 30/05/2021 11:54

Have no problem in having an ID card (already have one from my own country) or a vaccine passport.

Yes I agree that some have got richer because of the pandemic, but that is the nature of capitalism, sadly.

pinkearedcow · 30/05/2021 11:57

Can you explain more about this as I don't understand what you are getting at.

chickenyhead · 30/05/2021 12:21

We live, unfortunately, in a capitalist society. Ergo, our government couldn't give 2 shits about individuals, just money.

As such, their draconian measures must be viewed through a financial lens. There is absolutely no benefit for the control and or eradication of the lower earners who actually do the dogs work, then pay all of their wages to the rich who set the prices. Lockdown is the last thing they want to do. They do it because if the NHS falls over, there is a high chance of significant civil unrest. Chaos. Crime.

To what end does making the workers unemployed serve? Somebody has to do that work.

I'm sorry if you ever believed that you were truly free. We work in a cooperative society, all doing our part. The government care only for money.

knittingaddict · 30/05/2021 12:33

Wake up, people.

Honestly op, you might as well have gone the whole hog and called us sheeple. I think we have your measure.

Legoninjago1 · 30/05/2021 12:55

Thankfully the number of anti vaxxers/ racists etc who actually turned up to this strange grouping is such a minuscule proportion of the population as to be irrelevant. Even if it was the 'thousands!' that the OPs giddy post claims as opposed to the hundreds everyone else saw. Also thankfully the vast majority of us are getting ourselves vaccinated and so these people will also benefit in the long run.

Legoninjago1 · 30/05/2021 12:59

Irrelevant as it relates to the covid recovery that is. I doubt anything negative will come of it other than potentially their own embarrassment down the line.

FixTheBone · 30/05/2021 13:02

Stop feeding the troll people.

Rosehip10 · 30/05/2021 13:08

@Nerdygirl So you are opposed to any action to try and reduce the impact of climate change? or is that all made up too Hmm

Pmsl. Hundreds that everyone else saw!! Are you for real? Look, if a double-decker bus crashed into your front room whilst watching gogglebox, unless the BBC and the Daily Fail told you, you still wouldn't believe it. The cognitive dissonance and Stockholm syndrome on here are mind-blowing.

@vickyda

You seriously still can't get your brains around any of it can you? Are there people dying all over the streets of the UK? Yes or no? The answer is no, right? Therefore they are lying... just like they are lying to us here.
Mate, you're right down at level 1 on the conspiracy theories....

Have you even considered that Russia might be feeding you the false information that the Ukranian media is showing it's citizens false information about the UK, deliberately, so that you disbelieve the genuine information in the UK so that it prolongs the pandemic and weakens the UK position on the world stage?

Legoninjago1 · 30/05/2021 13:11

Ok, OP. Ok.

Baluchistan95 · 30/05/2021 13:12

Yes of course. Anyone with a different opinion to that of your own is a troll.

Don’t be ridiculous and stop trying to put words in my mouth. It’s quite pathetic!

Of course climate change isn’t made up, there are very ambitious targets and this presents an opportunity

GappyValley · 30/05/2021 13:23

Hasn’t Stockholm syndrome been largely discredited..?

User135644 · 30/05/2021 13:28

@Furries

Saw on the news the protests in Brazil today - now, THEY really have something to protest about.
Yeah but Dave and Bob still get asked to wear a mask when they enter a pub.

You won't stop these people protesting against a virus.

As long as it's a sunny Saturday in London.
