They took place all over the world except for in countries where peaceful protests lead to police brutality (which I suspect many posters here would like to see happen in the UK - thankfully we are not a police state, yet anyway)

What absolute bollocks.

You do you but STFU about what other posters want. "you suspect"
What arse.
You just lost it all there.

knittingaddict · 31/05/2021 12:03

Also the Belgium had a separate march by health care workers asking for more funding for hospitals etc. No ones going to argue with that.
Very different to the protests in the UK.

So people can march provided you agree with the cause? Otherwise it's fair game to falsely smear all the marchers? You do know that's not how democracy works @knittingaddict?
Iloveasda1000 · 31/05/2021 12:12

What I love most is mumsnetters on the one hand claiming there were hardly any marchers there while simultaneously warning about a huge spike in cases 🤣🤣 gotta love that logic 😱😬😬

You suspect wrong, but you know that, don't you?

Nope don't know anything. I am going on a lot of the comments on here. I strongly suspect a sizeable minority of posters would be happier living in a totalitarian state.
sunglassesonthetable · 31/05/2021 12:18

Snort 🙄

Obvs the issue here is the "I strongly suspect" banging away on their key board. You wouldn't know a totalitarian state if it it bit you on the arse.

It's a beautiful day. Get out in the sun.

My Dad arrived here as a refugee from an actual totalitarian state. No. No I wouldn't. And it's frankly a fucking insult to have people like you compare what he and his family went through to the current situation in the UK. You don't know you're born.

vera99 · 31/05/2021 13:23

Never take your epidemiological advice from someone carrying a carrier bag of Stella whilst chanting mindless slogans. Like the previous poster said they don't know they're born.

Backofbeyond50 · 31/05/2021 13:24

@Parker231 O the irony.
Well OP I was in London on Saturday on a proper March from Lonon to Cambridge. I did wake up really early and I was awake all night . I feel very happy that I can now partake safely in my hobby due to the vaccine and low number of cases.
I am also grateful that they are continuing to clisely monitor the vaccine for side effects etc.

Backofbeyond50 · 31/05/2021 13:26

Brighton. Bloody hell autocorrect

Oh give over. I grew up in a police state and I've been twitchy as hell about the co id restrictions and their possible long term implications as a result. I find a lot of nati e born Brits way too complacent about their freedom.

sunglassesonthetable · 31/05/2021 13:49

Jeez. 'Being complacent ' is a whole different thing to ' would be happier living in a totalitarian state".

🎶There's no limits 🎶

skyvv90 · 31/05/2021 15:10

God knows what you're marching for. The restrictions will and are being gradually lifted according to the state of the pandemic, which is the CORRECT action. And, YES they were required and YES, you should get vaccinated. Bunch of idiots on these marches. Stop bleating to likeminded folk on social media about the injustice of it all and go outside and touch some grass. You're not in a police state, you're just bloody dramatic.

Tealightsandd · 31/05/2021 15:21

So they're marching to demand that they should not be made to contribute anything personally in the unlocking process; be it having a simple jab, or to behave in a socially responsibly manner or even wear a mask. Don't worry the rest of us will do it.

vera99 · 01/06/2021 10:18

This is a particular lunacy that is getting near to its end date, half the population have now had one jab, a third has had both, the daily death rate has been down to single figures for a while now and an end to this (at least in the UK) is clearly fast approaching.
The vaccination program has been a massive and unqualified success. It's hard to imagine there are going to be a million people marching through London demanding an end to something that is almost over.

Then can we bring back to bird feeders to Trafalgar Square? I have happy childhood memories of buying a small bag of food for the pigeons. The sellers did a roaring trade to tourists. It was a big draw. Children loved it. The bird feeders (and the pigeons) need their freedom.
