Will you spend time with partially / un vaccinated people?

I have severe health anxiety and after a conversation with my Dr this morning I have decided against my second Covid Jab.

I had my first AZ but I’m severely anxious about my second one and it’s really interfering with my work / home life.

I don’t want this to get in the way of being able to spend time with friends or family (who will be fully vaccinated)

I have a small child and I want to be able to arrange plat dates and days out by I’m afraid people won’t want to be around me if I’ve only had one vaccine.

@Crackbadger

What confuses me is that if we are vaccinated, we can still carry the virus and transmit it to others. So we are as much at risk from a vaccinated as an unvaccinated person then, aren't we? OP, sending empathy and understanding.
As pointed out, we are as much at risk from a vaccinated as an unvaccinated person is simply not true.
Crackbadger · 27/05/2021 20:39

Thanks everyone for clarifying.

dragonsmoke · 28/05/2021 00:27

I doubt people will care or ask of you're vaccinated. If they've had the jab, they will feel safe socialising and the risk will be on you.

@LovelyLaura62 then i sincerely hope she is not the child who will be choosing your nursing home later on.

Interesting. I'm 57 and do not intend to take this experimental vaccine which is still on trial until 2023 and has only emergency approval. My concerns are the opposite of yours. Do I want to be around vaccinated people? I am reading a lot about the possibility of 'shedding' from those that have been vaccinated, which to be honest, scares me. However, my gut feeling is that I am not at any risk from the vaccinated.
Shedding? Seriously. I have reservations about the vaccine, but that is nuts, surely. I assumed it was made up so unvaccinated people could claim that vaccinated people were a threat to the community. Tit for tat on the argument against anti-vaxers.
GiveMeNovocain · 28/05/2021 01:05

@LovelyLaura62

Anti vaxxers needs to be imprisoned for their own safety, my daughter refuses to take the vaccine ( she is 20) and I have kicked her out. She will hopefully either come to her senses or fucking freeze to death under a subway if need be for her selfishness putting lives at risk. Tough love is required and anyone not having the vaccine will answer to me that I know. Million are dropping dead yet all I hear is MOAN MOAN MOAN. GET YOUR FUCKING VACCINE
If you're not taking the piss I think you might need a new username. Op - Of course I'm not going to ask people about their vaccination status. I'm vaccinated and am delighted with the level of protection it's given me. Must be one of the most effective vaccines in history. Also discrimination based on medical status is just wrong.

Are your posts an attempt at satire

Ignoring the last few horrifying posts, I wouldn’t care OP. You can lie anyway?
People have asked me on play dates but only as something to say in general chit chat, even then I think it has been more fishing for information on how old people are Grin.

I’m confused about why people are asking hairdressers etc about this. Under 30s still haven’t been offered. Most people in their 30s (unless higher risk or NHS) will be getting there’s around now or have in the last week or two so have basically no protection as of yet. How can people possibly discriminate against those who have just waited their turn?

BarbarianMum · 28/05/2021 07:43

Conspiracy theorists, anti vaxxers and people w health anxiety (the 3 go together surprisingly often) are some of the most tedious people on the planet so I'd avoid any situation where I was forced into a confined space with one.

If you were CEV with a condition that made it likely that your own vaccines would be less effective, then picking a barber in their forties or fifties who’d been half vaccinated would seem like a proportionate step to me. If there was a slightly older fully vaccinated guy available then ideally you’d go for him.

You are completely out of order lumping people with a mental health issue in this 'group'.
BarbarianMum · 28/05/2021 09:52

All 3 anti vax conspiracy theorists I know had pre existing health anxiety. The anti vax theories act as justification and reinforcement for not having the jab. Why is it so amazing that many conspiracy theorists would have mental health issues?

looptheloopinahulahoop · 28/05/2021 15:06

I don't go round asking people if they've had the vaccine. It's none of my business, and as I have had mine and will have had my second in a fortnight's time, I don't care what other people do.

Somebunnylovesyou22 · 29/05/2021 07:29

I doubt anyone will know since it’s none of their business to ask for you for your private medical information. It’s your choice and doesn’t need to be explained to anyone.

Pinkylemons · 31/05/2021 03:15

Wouldn’t bother me. None of the rest of my family are having the vaccine at all. How would anyone know anyway?

Coasterfan · 31/05/2021 09:02

It would nt bother me at all, I can’t imagine quizzing the kids friends parents as to whether they have been vaccinated or not!
