Yet more chat about novavax, (un)blinding, general vaccine passport stress, approval (please please please) and more.
Those involved in other vaccine trials also welcome.

I work in care and had two novavax last November. I advised the nhs vaccination line when they called me for my vaccine id been on the trial so they took me off the system as fully vaccinated. I knew I was as I unblinded in December. Today the NHS has invited me for a booster on Monday!! I’m going to go along and hope for the best they give it me.

Torvean · 23/09/2021 19:33

I got an email from my study saying due to lack of MHRA approval no booster will be given.

The final appt is a blood test, questionnaire and another consent forgive told them I want unblinded at that appt.

Torvean · 24/09/2021 15:31

Apparently shares have gone up in Novavax today. Apparently due to India applying for approval through WHO.
I think people in the US believe its def approval in 4/4. Could easily be Jan 2021.
Can't wait for these Questionnaires at the last clinic appt.
There better be a whole section on registration...

KeepingOnKeepingUp · 24/09/2021 16:02

I spoke to the lead investigator at my centre today. He was very supportive and helpful. They think antibody response is likely to still be very strong, even for those vaccinated in November last year, so his view was that the lack of boosters wasn't enormously problematic for me at least (late 30s, healthy). We did talk about the travel situation which is becoming increasingly concerning for me from a work perspective; he fully supports me getting two doses of a deployed vaccine, so I'm going for an end of study appointment next week, will be given a letter saying this, and then can go to a clinic. He suggested the clinic at the hospital as he said they'd be familiar with the situation, whereas I would possibly encounter problems elsewhere as my NHS app shows I have been vaccinated already. I'm going to go and get the letter and then think about what to do. He did reassure me that leaving the study now wouldn't compromise the integrity of the trial.

Torvean · 25/09/2021 05:38

So my petition to parliament is finally published after about 3 weeks.
If you ever do one, ecoect it tske about 3 letters. Then you get a reply either it being edited.

I'm not sure who is still active on this thread. So I'll just tag the most familiar name to me. Even if you're not Scottish, we were in the same trial, and we've all had to fight

Signed for you.

Dreamer1989 · 25/09/2021 12:02

Im England but I have signed. We all took the step together to help, we deserve this.

Torvean · 25/09/2021 12:10

Thank you both. We are all in this together, and I will sign anything for anyone with issues due to travel etc.

Ppl in Australia are pretty pissed. They took part in Stage 2 Novavax and are not registered.

Then we have ppl from the US who think they deserve EUA first because they invested the most money . I may have accidentally bit his head off.

There also seems to be ppl who are unvaccinated and are waiting for Novavax. And demanding release. Personally if that was me I'd have got Pfizer.

Torvean · 26/09/2021 05:12

I was in town yesterday and went to speak to a pharmacist/ admin staff at the drop in clinic.

They said they've had a lot of ppl in the last 2 weeks ftom vaccine trials. And they weren't sure why it was happening.

Now they are fully informed. And have a copy of The Guardian. They hadn't heard about Novavax. So.i got to inform them of difficulties with govt/registration in Scotland. Plus the wider impacts for those in the UK too.

Good deed for the day done

Torvean · 26/09/2021 13:19

Once this is all over and Covid isn't an issue. I hope some kind of event/programme is held for those in vaccine trials where we can all discuss being in a vaccine trial. And inform the public.

Level75 · 26/09/2021 19:44

Signed Torvean.
DH (who had Novavax) recently had his second Pfizer jab. I'm glad I persuaded him to have it as we're due to go away half term to somewhere you need an approved vaccine.
He thought Novavax would have its shit together in time. I persuaded him otherwise.

I've signed.

Torvean · 28/09/2021 04:13

Thank you.

I've roped in 2 MSPs at last.
Sadly they keep going back to oh but you've got an interim letter.
And I have to remind them it's lack of registration ( due to govt) and self isolation that need changed.
Not that I'm going to following the isolation rules anways.

Out of interest. Who got 2nd vaccines? Which did you get, and were the side-effects worse?

Level75 · 28/09/2021 13:33

DH had Pfizer and was quite unwell for nearly a week with the first (third) jab and fine with the second. Some people have no side effects at all though. I'm on a Facebook novavax group and trawled the posts to see how others were before he had his.

Torvean · 28/09/2021 13:49

@Level75 is that the FB group with lots of ppl from the US? I left that as their whining/ cheating using antibody tests grated my nerves.

Woventabby · 28/09/2021 15:26

@Torvean Signed, though from England. Hope your petition will raise awareness surrounding the clinical trials!

@pennee Hope you manage to get a booster without any problem.

@KeepingOnKeepingUp Please keep us updated! I am hoping our site could offer something similar, though getting an appointment in a clinic in the hospital seems tricky unless the lead doctor uses a special route to get an appointment for you. At the moment the system doesn't allow me to book vaccines.

Dreamer1989 · 28/09/2021 16:25

Dear Participants

We are aware that you are waiting for definite news regarding your Vaccination status and Booster; we have just been told that the JCVI (Joint Committee on Vaccination & Immunisation) and DH (Department for Health & Social Care) are about to release new advice on this matter, as soon as this advice is available to us we will be in touch.

If you are eligible for the Booster & the NHS app is showing your vaccination records you should have received an invitation, I know many of you have & are booking these appointments. If you are having App problems please get in touch & we will check your information & help however we can. If you have booking issues for the Booster because of your Novavax status please let us know.

Please ignore this email if you were unblinded & went on to have an approved vaccine.

Thank you for your patience & continued support.

The Novavax Team

Torvean · 28/09/2021 19:31

So Novavax still think England=Scotland??
I'm pretty sure I've corrected them on this before.....

CardinalCat · 28/09/2021 22:03

Despite being promised a response from my lead investigator by Monday, here we are on Tuesday night and nothing (despite me chasing yesterday.) SIGH. It didn't actually suit me to get my vaccine this week as I'm travelling with work, but I'd really love to be able to get my jag next week (not least because I have flu jab booked for mid October and would like to space them out.) I'm so weary of all this.

Share price has dropped like a stone - the market doesn’t believe Novavax is getting its act together. They need to offload the CEO.

I got the Scottish LibDems to chase this. Yesterday I got a reply that HY claims to have individually responded to. It's the exact same words that I've had from a previous reply by a separate govt official.

Then yesterday it was announced that the govt have made it possible for ppl who were vaccinated outside of Scotland to be added to NHS inform. I may have got extremely hacked off at them.

CardinalCat · 29/09/2021 20:41

I've got a response. The trial centre will be writing me a "prescription" this week and once Ive decided which drop in clinic to go to, the lead investigator will contact them to prepare the way for me. I'm really pleased. I'm actually away at gleneagles from tomorrow for six days and don't want to be poorly for that, but as soon as my health board release the locations of the vax bus for next week I'll get it sorted. Once I know more I'll let those interested know the details (by dm.) xx

JPLeeds · 30/09/2021 08:18

Well I had my second Pfizer in Leeds yesterday and I'm feeling a bit worse for wear (mainly a bit shaky and painful arm) I still feel a bit guilty lying to get it but I didn't see any other way with the delays for a approval.

Torvean · 30/09/2021 12:37

Is there anyone who got NHS vaccines still in the trial. I thought some people were?
Yet my clinic said today that if I got a NHS vaccine before my final appt I'd need to drop out.
Is that true ?
