Is anyone not having the vaccine and what are your reasons? Im in my 30s I'm not having the vaccine because I'm worried about the long term effects that might not come to light for a few years. Why are you not having it?
If you think the vaccine is amazing and anyone not having it is selfish you probably don't need to comment.

I've had it purely so I can go on holiday as I don't want my kids missing out by me not having it. if it turns out we don't need the boosters ect to go away I won't have it again.

Watermelonsugar21 · 21/05/2021 19:51

Everyone I know IRL who has had the vaccine is older and done with having children. All my friends of childbearing age are holding off having it for now, due to the questions over its effect on fertility, especially now reports of it messing with people’s periods are circling.

It’s easy for someone in their 50s to tell everyone to get it or they are being selfish, I wonder how keen they’d be if they were younger and hadn’t yet had children.

On the selfish note... let’s be honest, everybody is selfish deep down! People getting the vaccine aren’t getting it for ‘the greater good’, they’re getting it because they’re scared of having COVID. Just as everyone not getting the vaccine is scared of side effects. Same motivation, just different reasons.

@Watermelonsugar21

I GENUINELY got it because I wanted to protect people like my friend (who has cancer and can't have it). I HONESTLY wanted to show support for her, as she's petrified of getting covid.

I was shit scared and nearly had a panic attack in the wait room after.

110APiccadilly · 21/05/2021 20:09

@Ethel78 Vaccination is not a third sacrament.

Incidentally, what's your position on abortion? One of the most devoted Christians I know won't take the vaccine because fetal cells were used in its development. (Please note I am not saying the vaccine contains fetal cells - it doesn't. But they were used in research and development.)

ZednotZee · 21/05/2021 20:09

Selfish, in the context of one's own health really isn't the insult which some of you think it is.

I’m not scared of side effects. I just don’t feel like I need a vaccine for something that is really low risk for me.

I’m getting it for the same reason I get every vaccine, to protect me from an illness I might get and don’t know how I’ll react to. I can’t honestly say I’m getting it for the greater good because if there was a risk I was worried about or a medical reason I couldn’t have it, I wouldn’t feel in the slightest bit guilty.

MememememememeMEEEE

What a fucking stupid species we are. We really deserve to be wiped out by an asteroid.

murbblurb · 21/05/2021 20:26

Dear me, who left the gate open to the fuckwit field? Entitlement does seem to go with antivax conspiracy.

I do know a couple of vaccine refusers. Fine , but Satan will skate to work before I go near them or see them except outside.

I feel like I'm living in the Middle Ages right now confused I thought we were in the era of enlightenment? Clearly not hmm“

We are. Uptake is extremely high. There aren’t many refusers, they just just tend to shout, rather.

Why? Do you think your vaccine doesn’t work?

Presumably she won’t be taking any drug that’s been developed in the last 50 years then?

Bluefinger · 21/05/2021 20:51

I don't want people messing with my RNA, I don't think people are clever enough to see unforseen consequences. Fair enough if I was dying of something currently, I would take the risk of gene therapy.

@murbblurb Are you actually calling me a ‘dumb fuck’ for asking you a question? Wow. Says more about your intelligence than mine if you have to result to childish insults I guess.

murblurb

I am about the most pro-vaccination poster you will meet - please, do look up my posting history.
I have argued with BumbleyMummy on more than one occasion.
She/he is an intelligent person who happens, after much reading, to hold a different opinion to you (and, generally, I too).

She/he is about as far distant from a dumb fuck as you will find and you should apologise.

I’ve just been called and I’m on the fence, overseas travel and vaccine passports were the personal draw to me - now everyone has to have a test regardless.
It’s just been reported that 6 of the 9 people in our LA hospital with covid had in fact had the vaccine - for someone my age I can see why people think twice (expect to be called selfish etcHmm)?

shazzz1xx · 21/05/2021 22:08

Me and my family are not having the vaccine and my friends aren’t either
My gran had 2 small heartattacks 8 week after having the Pfizer
She’s 84 but wouldn’t think it so she’s not having the next 2
We wish she didn’t have any now

Thephantom · 21/05/2021 22:08

@Ligglepiggle yes , you probably would be called selfish, and most probably by those who took the last toilet roll, pasta , and long life milk off the shelves March last year! Oh if the great toilet roll, pasta and milk shortage last year taught me anything, its everyone is all 'memememe' when it comes to it. Not many people will be willing to admit it though.

A vaccine is not going to cause a heart attack 8 weeks later. At her ages it's more likely her blood pressure or vascular disease that caused it. Did she have a reason given. Is she already on medication for things like that.

She would be at serious risk if she catches Covid and having recent heart attacks will make her risk higher.

You're foolish if you don't take it. Its your choice. However you can't complain if places refuse you entry or make you still use face masks.

Had 6 out of the 9 had both vaccinations? Which strain of Covid did they catch? In hospital in a normal ward or in ITU? All those things make a difference.

The trial I'm in nobody who has had 2 vaccinations has needed vaccination. That's a study over 4 continents.

penni00 · 21/05/2021 23:20

Which vaccination did the 6 out of 9 have? Was it AZ?

penni00 · 21/05/2021 23:38

Torvean
I wouldn't like to say categorically a vaccine is not going to cause a heart attack 8 weeks later. I absolutely am still having side effects from the AZ 9 weeks on (headaches, eye issues).
I believe an inflammatory type response to a vaccine MAY be responsible.

Roonerspismed · 22/05/2021 06:06

I know an alarmingly high number of older people who have suffered strokes and heart attacks in the weeks following their vaccine. One was 89 and just dropped dead. Because they are elderly it’s not been reported. I am not sure I trust the data

I think blood clots have probably been well studied. The other stuff? I honestly have no idea. The original study was small and didn’t include many elderly.

What happened in nursing homes come January? Did deaths go up at all?

WeAreTheHeroes · 22/05/2021 06:43

How many @Roonerspismed?
