Anyone not having vaccine , why aren't you?

Is anyone not having the vaccine and what are your reasons? Im in my 30s I'm not having the vaccine because I'm worried about the long term effects that might not come to light for a few years. Why are you not having it?
If you think the vaccine is amazing and anyone not having it is selfish you probably don't need to comment.

Because the low risk of death to them from covid is already acceptable to them. Why introduce an unknown for something you’re not worried about?

bumbleymummy · 21/05/2021 13:08

Flu is more likely to kill me than the flu vaccine but I still don’t get the flu vaccine because I’m not worried about flu.

TheGuru87 · 21/05/2021 13:11

I'm not having the vaccine, my reasons are as follows.

  1. I'm concerned about long term side effects.
  2. The MRNA is new technology, we don't fully understand the outcomes.
  3. The trials were rushed, the government disputes this, however vaccine and drug trials normally take years.
  4. I do not trust drug and vaccine companies, as they often lie about how effective their treatments are.
  5. Limited data presented from vaccine companies on the trials, also potential for bias within trials.
  6. Trials carried out within lockdown, do not demonstrate efficency.
  7. I'm in my 30s and potential of mortality is low, therefore the risk does not warrant me taking the vaccine.
LazyDaisy10 · 21/05/2021 13:15

@Backofbeyond50 I'm not 100% happy with my choice, of course I have no way of knowing if there are any long term effects of the vaccine. I'm actually not saying that there are any, I'm not an anti vaxxer, I am cautious with taking any medication. I certainly wasn't trying to cause any arguments and I'm quite shocked with the aggression and rudeness of people. My point of the thread was to find out other people's concerns and reasons for not taking the vaccine at this time. There has been some really useful information from both sides but I don't think calling a person thick as mince for questioning quite a big decision is very helpful

@LazyDaisy10 thank you for your clarification
It is of course a difficult decision. You can never 100% be sure you made the right choice. But it is your choice.
I have learnt from bitter experience that the decision is best kept private.

CantGetNoSleep73 · 21/05/2021 13:29

Way back in last March it was deemed that covid would be very mild for most people. So mild that 1 in 3 wouldn't even know they have had it!
The original sheet that came with the have your jab actually stated you only needed the jab of over 65 or had a condition.

Children have a 0.00004% dying of covid, and a 0.2% chance of dying of the vax according to figures released in attached photo

Errrr. No thanks

Anyone not having vaccine , why aren't you?
NoFashion · 21/05/2021 13:30

Anyone who isn't (other than if they have been advise by an actual doctor not to) is a selfish dick.

So that's their reason. Anything else they say is just then trying to justify a stupid decision.

NoFashion · 21/05/2021 13:31

@LazyDaisy10 "I'm not an anti vaxxer"

Yes that's exactly what you are.

NoFashion

I am perfectly entitled to be selfish in respect of my personal long term health.

If you want to call me a dick for exercising that right I don't really give a hoot.

TheGuru87 · 21/05/2021 13:38

Stop trying to force other people to take the vaccine. If you are concerned about the virus or at risk, take the vaccine and get protected.

Otherwise respect other people's choices and views. Not everyone has the same beliefs.

CantGetNoSleep73 · 21/05/2021 13:49

And my point is if the vaccine doesn't stop you catching spreading it and you have a 99% chance of recovery without it - then why are we being told to have it for others when it doesn't stop the spread.
Why are people "selfish dicks" as I've seen a few times on here?
Already they are talking a booster jabs for autumn and a lot are saying no.

does the vaccine work or not?

CantGetNoSleep73 · 21/05/2021 13:55

@TheGuru87 I get what you mean.
Why would the government suddenly have clauses that you can't sue them for vaccine issues over a threshold if confident?
Covering their arses...

Instead of people blaming each other why don't people think why have the government been so lax on allowing flights in and out all the time with no proper restrictions like Australia and NZ. Why not close borders?
Why this half in half out approach?

LazyDaisy10 · 21/05/2021 13:56

@NoFashion well I'm actually not an anti vaxxer as I have had other vaccines. I am protecting my own health so yeah that's me a selfish dick🙋‍♀️

@cantgetnosleep73
Exactly my train of thought,

They've been so relaxed with India, allowed a new variant in... Now we basically have to wait for boosters, this game could go on forever.

Backofbeyond50 · 21/05/2021 14:47

@CantGetNoSleep73 Iagree people to to do their own risk benefit assessment and yes on the whole the data doesn't support a child vaccination programme. However the data you provided does have a disclaimer attached to it as anyone can make a report and a report doesn't necessarily mean the vaccine was to blame

Plus the first photo you posted with the green bar at the side is from June 2020 so not particularly helpful.

@Ethel78

"Shame on you" is a nasty, vile expression to use. Accusing non vaccinating people of murder also speaks more about your character than theirs.

Who proposes you to be the judge of morality?

You don't sound very Christian in your post (although you imply you are one). I am sorry to learn of the loss of your brother.

bumbleymummy · 21/05/2021 16:36

@Ethel78 I’m sorry about the death of your brother but you don’t seem very well informed. The NHS is no longer under pressure from COVID - despite the fact that millions of people are still unvaccinated. We actually prioritised the groups that were most likely to end up in hospital and clearly it has worked.

And if you check the latest statistics you can see that the risk of a young person dying from COVID is actually less than the risk of clots. They’re both low risk in younger age groups and people are entitled to make their own decisions about which risks they are comfortable taking. The vaccine does not guarantee immunity and people can still spread the virus despite being vaccinated.

XenoBitch · 21/05/2021 16:39

Coercion is not consent.

Ethel78 · 21/05/2021 16:51

I'm sorry but even if the risk of death from the vaccine is higher than covid, it isn't about you , it is about other people. Sadly there are too many selfish people only thinking of themselves and yes I have been a Christian for 78 years. It's a pity Christian values have been lost in this country where people aren't prepared to make small sacrifices. I don't worry as my faith tells me where the unvaccinated /selfish people are going after death and put it this way, it will be much hotter than the summer holidays currently being missed !

If I had my way I would make vaccination compulsory with the army administering jabs as it seems the only way selfish ignorant people will get the message. Do none of you anti vaxxers care about the elderly and the vulnerable?

bumbleymummy · 21/05/2021 16:57

The elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated before us. They were prioritised because they are most at risk.

The elderly/vulnerable never gave a crap about me when I made an attempt on my life during the first lockdown. And another just recently due to twats like you and your views.
quoderatdemonstradum · 21/05/2021 17:02

@Ethel78

These are some of the main themes of Christianity:

Don’t judge others.

Love your enemies.

Forgive others who have wronged you.

Don’t be hypocritical.

Love your neighbour as yourself.

I'm sorry you are in pain after the loss of your brother.

BTW I am not an anti vaxxer; I am pro free choice.
