New thread as the MRHA report is out today.

Note this is not an anti vaccination thread.

Nearly 30% of those who died from the delta variant were fully vaccinated.

ajandjjmum · 16/06/2021 14:43

@Maia77

Nearly 30% of those who died from the delta variant were fully vaccinated.
I suppose the figure in itself is only relevant when compared with how many may have died, had a strong vaccination programme not been rolled out. And how many of the deaths are actually from Covid, as opposed to with Covid.
Actualfactual · 16/06/2021 14:48

I get the fact that the AZ vaccine deaths don't stack up against covid deaths, but as AZ is clearly killing people and there are vaccines in existence which do not have that issue, there should be a choice for all or at least for under 60s as in most other countries.

It seems at the moment to all be to do with money and trying to preserve AZ's reputation.

It must all come out eventually.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 16/06/2021 15:18
@Leaveitonthefloordrobe I'll be 44 in July, that's a bit old but yeah anything can happen.
I assume ppl just say they are having unprotected sex, so pregnancy could be a possibility. Has anyone done it that way and it worked?
They could ask for proof of pregnancy.
Oh I don't know. It's such a hassle.

I'm totally pro-vaccines etc., but these vaccines are new and have been given emergency approval, which also isn't very encouraging.
I'm 43 and I said exactly that - that I'm having unprotected sex and hoping to get pregnant. If I'm honest, immnercous about the Pfizer vaccination too, and I know there are links to heart problems and deaths. I wish I'd stood my ground and stayed unvaccinated tbh.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 16/06/2021 15:19

For immnercous read I'm nervous Grin

Maia77 · 16/06/2021 16:13

@Leaveitonthefloordrobe Oh wow, you've managed to get Pfizer this way. I might try doing this. Will think about it.
It's all crazy.

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 16/06/2021 17:26

Yes. I didn't particularly like lying (although to be honest, it's only a half lie; we don't always use contraception and wouldn't mind a final little surprise but we're not exactly actively TTC 🤷)

Maia77 · 16/06/2021 17:46

@Leaveitonthefloordrobe Did they ask you at the vaccination centre about being pregnant or just when you booked (online/phone?)?

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 16/06/2021 18:02

I checked the box when I booked but they out me in the AZ queue when I got there purely based in my age. I spoke to one of the doctors there and they moved me.

Jabbinell · 16/06/2021 18:10

They asked me at the vacc centre.

I think the majority of Indian people had a single dose Covaxin, not AZ.

Chailatteplease · 17/06/2021 14:01

Sorry not RTFT but can anyone tell me if they’re still using AZ on under 40’s? DP is 39 and is due to book, he doesn’t want AZ though after witnessing my side effects.

Maia77 · 17/06/2021 14:09

@Chailatteplease All under 40s I know got Pfizer, but I think they said it might depend on availability of Pfizer in the area. But I think it will probably be Pfizer.
Maybe he could ring the vaccination place and check.

Maia77 · 17/06/2021 14:10

@Actualfactual Thanks for that article, just makes me more determined to wait for Pfizer.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 17/06/2021 14:32

For anyone who is interested here is the latest official report
www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting

AppleJane · 17/06/2021 14:43

Deaths from blood clot now up 5 from 66 to 71 but also says this week that 4 of those are from the second dose. If I'm reading that right 4 out of 5 of the new deaths could relate to the second dose potentially.

Carefulvulvadriver · 17/06/2021 14:45

Sorry, I am out of touch with the discussion as I missed that there have been two new threads on this since the last one I was on!

The new report out today FINALLY gives a bit more of an age break down of risk:

"The overall incidence after first or unknown doses was 14.8 per million doses. Taking into account the different numbers of patients vaccinated with COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca in different age
groups, the data shows that there is a higher reported incidence rate in the younger adult age groups following the first dose compared to the older groups (20.2 per million doses in those aged 18-49 years compared to 10.7 per million doses in those aged 50 years and over). The MHRA advises that this evidence should be taken into account when considering the use of the vaccine. There is now some evidence that the reported incidence rate is higher in females compared to men although this is not seen across all age groups and the difference remains small."

I havent got time to check back the wording of their last report, so I'm not sure if the "this evidence should be taken into account" line is different at all. It makes me so angry for all the 40 something year olds whose concerns have been fobbed off for weeks (and we still dont really know what the risk is for 40 somethings olds, as they sit perfectly between the 2 big lumpy age brackets)

Maia77 · 17/06/2021 14:53

Interestingly, they include 40 year olds in the higher incidence group but still won't raise the age limit. For all intents and purposes we are in the 18-49 group except when it comes to the type of vaccine we should get. Unbelievable.

GentlemanJackie · 17/06/2021 15:13

I’m not affected by AZ personally any more as I did get the Pfizer (what a lot of us 40-49 year olds have been having unprotected sex at the moment!!) but it seems to me that deaths from AZ are way closer to the number of deaths of unvaccinated people from Covid than seems reasonable. I also couldn’t help wondering when I saw an article about how Israel is doing so much better than we are, why no one is asking is that because they used Pfizer?

penni00 · 17/06/2021 15:29

Exactly

Schulte · 17/06/2021 15:32

Interesting that between the last report and this one, 18 new clotting cases were reported. More than two per day! Nobody (apart from us on this thread) is taking any notice any more.

And yes good point re efficacy against the variants. I can’t help thinking we’d be in a better position right now if more people had received mRNA vaccines...

Leaveitonthefloordrobe · 17/06/2021 15:34

what a lot of us 40-49 year olds have been having unprotected sex at the moment!! 🤣🤣

Don't tell WHO though, I don't want to give up the alcohol 😉

SheilaTakeABow · 17/06/2021 15:48

I was just thinking that if cases of VITT in second doses remained stable, I may bite the bullet and book my second dose.

Having seen the figures today, and the (kind of) breakdown, fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Why people aren't more worried (there was a thread here just last night with people telling the OP to get it over with) is beyond me. I don't think I'm exagerrating to say it's Russian roulette Angry

SheilaTakeABow · 17/06/2021 15:48

Exaggerating Blush

SheilaTakeABow · 17/06/2021 15:49

Not even worried, angry. I don't know of any other vaccine with such a degree of fatal side effects.
