Well this is fun:

You can click on an area - such as say Bolton - and you can watch B1617.2 arriving in April then spreading out to the surrounding areas.

(It's nothing, nothing, nothing, then it suddenly bursts into colour.

And/or look at your own area and see if it's reached you yet.

@Dugee

Thank you, that's "fun". I'm in Trafford which isn't far from Bolton. Give it time...
Yeah. Soz. It can't be long the way it's spreading.

Didn't they just have a football match with a crowd in at Old Trafford?

That'll help.

That's good. How many councils over is your nearest?

North Tyneside 35.7%. We had an outbreak in an Indian restaurant by the coast, so it is not surprising.

You're about to get surge vaccinations then I think.

We'll see. I doubt they would bring forward our second jabs.

SingleDontWantToMingle · 19/05/2021 17:22

I'm even closer, Eccles is next, followed by Trafford.

Mind you, Manchester itself seems to be high, so that will help spread - a lot of people are back in the office a couple of days a week so travelling backwards and forwards from the suburbs.

SingleDontWantToMingle · 19/05/2021 17:24

I read earlier that they think it will take 2 weeks before there is enough data to make a decision on 21st June being the end of restrictions.

If the growth shown on those maps continues, I doubt that "freedom day" on 21st will go ahead.

Our Prime Minister let this last one go ahead on Monday and he's known this variant was here for a month.

The nightclubbing fully open U.K. he promised us was never really happening was it?

Even before this government's policies let this new variant in and left it alone to bed in nicely all over the country for a month.

We had a gig booked for 19/6/20, unsurprisingly it was postponed to 22/6/21. Just had an email to say it's been moved to 22/6/22.

the80sweregreat · 19/05/2021 18:53

DS1 had a festival booked for early July and that was put back ages ago to next year because of the Indian strain before it was even in the news that much.
I know he should not have bothered , but I guess everyone needs something to look forwards to.

XenoBitch · 19/05/2021 18:58

I might have done it wrong. It says most of England is 100%. My area is 53.3%

XenoBitch · 19/05/2021 18:59

Oh, I had the wrong variant. My area is 46.7%.

YoutubeZoom · 19/05/2021 19:39

@PrincessNutNuts You were right. We arein surge testing and vaccination.

Some local GPs are sending out emails advising that there are 38,000 people waiting and they've been given no extra resources to bring appointments forward.

Onthegrapevine · 19/05/2021 21:19

Why is Brighton & Hove in white, when everywhere else with 0% is yellow?

missw1987 · 19/05/2021 21:22

Wakefield :)

brondary · 19/05/2021 21:24

I am in Nottingham. We have an outbreak of the Indian variant in a school located in a white working-class estate and in halls of residence/student accommodation.

psychomath · 20/05/2021 18:40

3.5 tests they sequenced were found to be from the Indian variant. (I've no idea how they get a half)

It's cases per week over a two week period, so presumably the half just means the total number was odd.

Ahhhh. I didn't think of that.

I have family in Hart where it seems to be a couple of schools.

I guess it always does start in the younger age groups and spread upwards to parents etc but it does feel very school-related this time.

It's good that they're taking notice of the surveillance and doing something.

There's going to be an update on this look up tool tomorrow morning, so we'll see if any more areas look like they might be joining you.

TBH nothing is happening with the surge. The two testing stations are in areas where you can't really drive in. We never go there ever. We live in a totally different part of town.

Our 2nd vaccinations are not brought forward and 1st vaccine take-up was already high. Neither of us were vaccinated in North Tyneside in the first place, there were never any local appointments for us.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/05/2021 23:17

@housemdwaswrong

Wales doesn't exist again. :/ Tedious.
Nor scotland🤔

I managed to bring my Uncle's second dose forward for him, and he's having it locally now instead of driving 20 miles.

He's in Hart in Hampshire where they currently have outbreaks in local schools my family tell me.
