I’m due to go and get my second Oxford jab on Saturday and I really don’t want it. I’m 30 and have been put off getting it 😩 work is really pushing me to have it. Not sure what to do :(

OP posts:
SimpleWayOfLife · 28/04/2021 10:15

It really worries me that people are being put off having this vaccine by social media/tabloid drivel rather than actually looking at the real facts in a sensible way.

SimpleWayOfLife · 28/04/2021 10:16

@Loveistheonlyhipe

Just stop bloody opening them as they seem to annoy you so much.

These sort of threads threaten to undermine the vaccination programme, that's why they're dangerous. Of course we want to know that the vaccine is for the most part safe, it's this peculiar assertion that it needs to be 100% safe that I don't get. Nothing in life is 100% safe, it's weighing up the pros and cons

Spot on.

No, they don't. They give people the opportunity to calm the person down & give them some reassurance that the vaccine is a GOOD thing.
CarmelBeach · 28/04/2021 10:18

@savethegrannies

You are 30 Assuming you are not CV or CEV you are ridiculously low risk. Only you can decide what you put in your body. Don't allow pressure from anybody else to interfere with your decision (either way) here. Your body, your choice.
I'm a lot older than you and have the same dilemma

I had the first one, was really ill but just thought I'd have the second one because...actually now I don't know.

💯 this.

Why are we getting so many posts like this? Are they actually genuine or is it a campaign by antivaxers to post some kind of "not getting my jab" post every day?

OP - get your second jab. Properly protect yourself and the people around you. The risk was always minuscule and even less so for a second jab. Driving to the vaccine centre is almost certainly the most dangerous part of getting your vaccination.

tatoowooo · 28/04/2021 10:20

Your body, your choice OP. I haven't had any yet. I'll do it if/when I'm ready

How on earht can you weigh up as the pros nd cons as you said if people dont talk about it?

We need info, read my posts and others as I'm not going to repat them,

Debate is required and info, quiker info is required to make informed decisions.

The "dangerous ones " are the anti vaxers and NOT those that raise genuine concerns and that is a fact.

I've read that 1 case of clots in second jabs but read this on another forum they said it ir was via the "yellowl card side" but I did not read the site.

I wish and pray there are no more clots no more covid etc and I dislike people like you that try to bully others. Yesm air your genuine concenrs but dont try to bully others just becuse you disagree with the

You'll find we are all on the same side, IE just want the vaccine to work and little or no side effects and any side effects easily managed

Thnak you.

Northernsoullover · 28/04/2021 10:21

As Dr ZDogg MD said if the goal had been 100% safety we wouldn't have a vaccine. He's a real doctor btw. Uses proper data and all boring shit like that to form his arguments

Mrbob · 28/04/2021 10:24

If you were going to get an immune reaction like a blood clot you would have got it with the first vaccine. The second will be fine

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 28/04/2021 10:24

@MrsKeats

These threads need to be zapped.
Why?! People are allowed to have concerns and to discuss them. Why would you want to silence people who are feeling anxious? The best thing to do is to offer the OP reassurance by providing statistics. Not ‘zap’ the thread.

Even if they are by "antovaxers" you will get many blanaced and informative views like mine and others.

Yes, I'm worried but I went ahead with the second oxford jab but yes I am worried but I am also worried about catching covid as well and you are more at risk of a clot with Covid by miles than the vaccines. so depending on your age, push come to shove between catching coivd or taking the jab, it is the vaccine/jab all day long as it stands.

Then reassure the OP with facts.
MrsKeats · 28/04/2021 10:26

Thank you love the entitlement is astonishing.

JustSleepAlready · 28/04/2021 10:26

The actual risks of these happening are extremely low. They appear ‘high’ because the media publicise every single case they find, so it’s all you hear about. If you look at the information leaflet on paracetamol, ibuprofen, period pain relief, blood pressure meds, almost all will have as a potential but extremely low risk side effect of liver and lung problems, rashes, breathing problems and death. It’s so rare. I dint think you’re any more at risk from these jabs being bad for you as you are from your flu jab, or childhood vaccinations. The vaccinations may have been quickly produced, but we’ve a lifetime of vaccination and medication experience and knowledge to ensure that those risks are really really low. Of course each to their own, but I will be getting both of mine when it’s my turn.

Tipsylizard · 28/04/2021 10:27

OP I appreciate your worry but as someone said up thread you have done the hardest bit! The second jab will up your.protection with a much reduced chance of side effects.

I have had my first AZ vaccination and I will be definitely having my second.

Loveistheonlyhipe · 28/04/2021 10:27

Emma2021

I prefer to listen to Professor Chris Witty et al than someone going on about their own anonymous 'research' on here. Seriously, if 33 million people are given a vaccination at pretty much the same time then of course you will get a few people who react badly. It's miniscule the risk compared to the disease. I refer you back to India...

or as the Queen quite rightly said a few months ago, get it done to protect everyone not just yourself.

SimpleWayOfLife · 28/04/2021 10:29

The facts of the vaccines benefits are readily available but some people are always going to be more susceptible to hearsay and scaremongering.

PurplePumpkinDream · 28/04/2021 10:29

I think a lot of us who had the first vaccination without any hesitation are not so carefree now after what we now know plus the inevitable scaremongering. But as other people have said nothing in life is 100% safe.

CovidHalloween · 28/04/2021 10:30

OP has the right to be worried when other countries have decided to use other vaccines for under 50s. Yes nothing in life is without a risk, but why have other countries decided against using AZ for the same age group that we are going ahead administering it for? Surely it’s in every country’s benefit to vaccinate as fast as they can so that they can get out of this disaster, so why limit or ban its use? It lowers my confidence in using AZ when I see other nations not using it.

RolloTomassi · 28/04/2021 10:30

@MrsKeats

Thank you love the entitlement is astonishing.

What?! The only entitled person is the one who'd insist healthy 30 year old take a jab they don't want or need, and demand that any debate around it be shut down!

I think it is sad that people are being put off of having the jab because of the miniscule chance of blood clots.

I am having my 2nd on Sunday. I had absolutely no side effects with the 1st one (AZ) and can't wait to have the 2nd.

Probably more chance of being hit by a bus than getting blood clots from the jab

lynsey91 · 28/04/2021 10:39

@Whatisthisfuckery

Ignore all the covid lovers on here OP. If you’re a healthy 30 year old you really don’t need the jab anyway. There are people on here who would see you dead from the side effects of a jab you don’t need just so they can feel better. Ignore them, they aren’t rational. If you’re healthy you don’t need the jab, so if you don’t want it then don’t have it.
It's not just for herself though is it? Everyone needs the innoculation to protect themselves AND others
SimpleWayOfLife · 28/04/2021 10:40

Reported. How dare you tell someone they don't need the vaccine. Fucking outrageous.
