I dont think life will be normal for years and years

Its the pictures coming out of india, with the recent festival and hundreds of people crammed together, during a second covid wave. This virus will just mutate forever, its too global to contain. Its just never going away. What the hells going to happen to us or our kids futures?
I can't see a way out of this. Science can't catch up, its too far spread to ever get a handle on it.

Things are opening up here but it judt takes a few folk coming in with some variations of the virus and it all starts again, the vaccines cant keep up with the mutations, its too widespread and rampant.
I feel like were fucked.

I dont know what people will stick to. I dont know what we'll do. And the vaccines cant keep up with everything out there. Theres too much of it.

It is awful in India from what we have seen.
But if over 100,000 at a sporting event ( cricket) before everyone vaccinated and mass festivals and mixing, shows what can happen. As seen on news clips.

I hope other countries take note and do not allow such large gatherings, in order to save lives.

Stopping travel from India may help - but if give people 5 days notice to still travel, then it is likely to spread to other countries, making those countries affected.

I know people want the right to travel, see family and have holidays - but is it safe to go to India right now?

The average deaths per day currently is the same as the average deaths per day from suicide. At what point do you think we should look at the impact of lockdowns and take that into account?

These things take time - 18 months to 2 years in the eye of the storm of a pandemic is normal. It was never going to be over within a year

Our children have a lot more to worry about that Coronavirus. Science has made inroads into this already

Amazing scientists are working on it with as much money as they need. They’ve never had this global support before. This is positive.

Actual deaths are lower than usual for this month in uk.

We have a dire corrupt gov which worries me though. We need to share as much vaccine as we can as soon as possible.

It’s frightening as many of us have never had to think about our mortality as intensely as this. But it isn’t all doom and gloom - everyone is working on this.

My mortality is the least of my worries. We could all die at an point, from anything. I’ve always know that. What I don’t want is to live a shitty miserable half life before I get struck down by whatever is going to take me.
For some reason people seem to think we should be aiming for immortality.

What exactly do you mean by SD? Because if it is the proper version where no one can ever be within 2m of someone they don't live with, how do you expect public transport, pubs, and actually the human race if no one can ever date, to survive?

The thing is though that masks and social distancing forever will kill off a number of industries permanently. It won’t happen because we can’t afford it.

I agree. It’s as if some people hadn’t realised. Young healthy people still don’t really have much to worry about with this virus. We even had ‘long covid’ before as post viral fatigue.
