Anyone had their first vaccine this week?

If you've had your first dose this week, what did you have?

Just interested as at one stage they were saving some of the Pfizer/AZ for second doses and will need some of the Moderna for 18-30. I know we'll get extra deliveries though.

I had my jab at 9am, was fine all day then woke up at 4am feeling rubbish. Weirdly sea sick for the next 36 hours. Fine now though.

ladygindiva · 17/04/2021 08:39

Yeah started feeling crap about 11pm last night so 12 hrs post jab. Headaches not too bad, just a, restless night of being too hot or cold and achey. Feel a bit weak this morning. Hope I'll feel better later.

ceeveebee · 17/04/2021 10:42

I had mine at 12 on Thursday, felt fine until late Thursday night and then got a bit achy and shivery. Was ok yesterday but felt like I had a hangover and had been punched in the arm! Fine this morning.

glitterelf · 17/04/2021 10:46

DH had his yesterday, age 46, Moderna, Northampton.
Only complaint is a slightly sore arm other than that absolutely fine.

ReviewingTheSituation · 17/04/2021 10:55

I had AZ yesterday morning. Fine all day until about 6, then really shivery (but felt totally fine in myself). Sat on the sofa all evening with an extra jumper on and the cat in lieu of a hot water bottle, shivers went by 8. Had a great night's sleep, and still feel fine now.
My arm is sore, but only if I try and raise it above a certain height - I'd expect that from any jab.

CherryJane · 17/04/2021 11:37

I posted up thread Thursday night after receiving my AZ Thursday morning.

I had a horrendous night. My head throbbed and waves of nausea kept me awake. At 7am Friday I got up for some cereal.so I could take someparacetamol.as I don't like taking them on an empty tummy.
Well I had the runs, vomited and then fainted. Went back to bed until midday. I felt better but weal and drained all day yesterday.
Today I feel much better but feel very weak and drained. A bit of a thick head and background headache too. So another day wasted as I don't feel upto much at all.
It's just my luck to get so bloody unlucky.

Seriously hoping the 2nd jab does not affect me so badly again.

RockaLock · 17/04/2021 11:43

DH & I had our first doses of AZ yesterday, at around 10am.

Drank loads of water all day, as advised by the nurse, felt fine, but took a precautionary paracetamol when we went to bed.

I woke up in the night feeling a bit hot and shivery, but not too bad.

DH woke up this morning with a bit of a headache.

We both feel very very very very mildly hungover, but not too bad at all really.

Oh, and my arm is really sore, but I'd expect that.

WednesburyPrinciple · 17/04/2021 13:21

Had mine this morning (AZ). Hoping for the best over the next 24-48 hours!

XiCi · 17/04/2021 13:56

Had Pfizer on Thursday no side effects at all. I wonder why AZ seems to have so many more side effects

MRex · 17/04/2021 14:03

It seems common for AZ to have more side effects on first dose, while Pfizer and Moderna have more side effects on the second dose. Obviously people who don't feel well are more likely to talk about it, but many don't get much by way of side effects; people who've had covid before and younger people get more.

XiCi · 17/04/2021 14:50

I've had covid recently and didn't have any side effects, neither did DH. The nurse seemed to think that the idea that you have more side effects if you've had covid was bullshit

SaberToothKitten · 17/04/2021 15:06

Moderna, today. Waiting to find out what the side effects will be 😷

MRex · 17/04/2021 15:12

It was found to be twice as common by Covid-Zoe, so it's surprising a nurse would say that: covid.joinzoe.com/post/vaccine-after-effects-more-common-in-those-who-already-had-covid.

Had my AZ jab Wednesday afternoon. Felt a bit like I had a mild hangover that evening but slept well.

Thursday and Friday had headaches, chills/ high temperature, nausea, bit of diahorrea, fatigue so stayed in bed mostly - any excuse!

From Friday dinner time I felt much better but have just started again with the headache and tiredness again so back in bed again!

Have to say that i feel so much better than when I had actual COVID though!

MumofSpud · 17/04/2021 15:21

Yes - I had the AZ on Wednesday (am 49).
Delighted / relieved Smile
Had to spend 2 days in bed - aches all over / chills / bad headache but still happy!

tatkin · 17/04/2021 15:32

The minute i could i booked my appt and knew side effects could be a bit rough so planned for a time my husband wasnt working nights. Glad i did as 12 hours later i was on the floor unable to move and spent the next 36 hours in bed in a delerium and it then progressed to throwing up. The paracetamol the vaccinator recommended not touching the sides. Better now but like i have had flu. I’ve never had a reaction like this to a vaccine. My mother had similar. How would a single parent cope? I was literally incapable and apparently talking gibberish. Fwiw am not a milquetoast.

Still going for my second and glad to be immunised but hadnt expected the severity of the reax. Will report to yellow card site

Glittertwins · 17/04/2021 15:37

We both had first AZ on Thursday. I got really bad shivers and chills about 6-7 hours later, DH just got a sore arm (had the same with flu jab). I was fine by Friday lunchtime. I had a few paracetamol Thurs night / Friday

PatriciaHolm · 17/04/2021 15:42

AZ yesterday - no side effects at all atm.

YoutubeZoom · 17/04/2021 18:09

Just had AZ. We shall see.

Pinkyxx · 17/04/2021 18:25

@XiCi

1st dose Pfizer today
I'm curious where you are? I was hoping for Pfizer, but GP here says no one is getting Pfizer as 1st does anymore!
MirandaWest · 17/04/2021 18:27

DH and I both had our first vaccines this week (he’s 48 and I’m 45) and we both had Moderna

XiCi · 17/04/2021 19:10

North Liverpool Pinkyxx. There was probably an even split of people getting first and second dose Pfizer when I was there

Legoninjago1 · 18/04/2021 10:48

First dose Pfizer for me too. Will report back in 12 hours!

YoutubeZoom · 18/04/2021 11:17

Had AZ yesterday evening. It was not a pleasant night. I was shivery and my muscles ache all over. Can't get comfortable. It does not feel like proper flu, thankfully.

WednesburyPrinciple · 18/04/2021 11:18

AZ yesterday morning. Bit tired and arm a bit sore but that’s it. Was expecting much worse!
