Anyone had their first vaccine this week?

If you've had your first dose this week, what did you have?

Just interested as at one stage they were saving some of the Pfizer/AZ for second doses and will need some of the Moderna for 18-30. I know we'll get extra deliveries though.

Oh had AZ today first dose.

CherryJane · 15/04/2021 23:43

First AZ 8.30am today. Felt fine until early evening. Now freezing cold and shivering uncontrollably despite being in bed with my electric blanket on.
Background headache not too bad but joint aches horrendous. Felt like I needed a Stannah chairlift struggling up the stairs tonight.

I'm late 40s, very fit usually. Hoping I wake up a bit brighter.

Suzi888 · 15/04/2021 23:46

Age 42 AZ and a Burger King with coke and 2 paracetamol. No side effects to report. Smile

unchienandalusia · 15/04/2021 23:52

Az on Tuesday. 47. Female. Tired that evening. Horrible night with fever spike. Flu like symptoms next day along with sore arm. Feeling absolutely fine next day.

ceeveebee · 15/04/2021 23:58

Had AZ today at midday. 45. Felt fine until about an hour ago and now a bit achy and shivery. Hoping I sleep it off as busy day tomorrow!

Rowgtfc72 · 16/04/2021 04:17

Got my first one next tues. Absolutely dreading it. I'm 49, very rarely ill. I had covid in October last year and just lost my taste and smell. I don't do flu jabs or paracetamol.
I'm more worried as I get up at 345am for work with a half hour bike ride. Then 8 hours on my feet in a factory.
Would you take paracetamol beforehand? How long before the symptoms kicked in as I'm a bus ride away from pharmacy in a bit of a dodgy area!

KatherineJaneway · 16/04/2021 04:30

Had my first jab Tuesday, AZ. Felt heat and chills overnight and really tired the next day but yesterday I was fine.

Suzi888 · 16/04/2021 06:35

@Rowgtfc72 I was told by a G.P that paracetamol lowers the immune response but can be taken beforehand and afterwards.
When I had my flu shot I didn’t take anything and felt shivery and very tired for approximately four hours about two hours after the jab.
Covid jab took tablets and had zero reaction, I was active after my jab which they advised against (but I had no choice). Waking up the next day now and still feel fine. Seems to be a mixed bag though, my work colleagues have all felt rough. It seems to affect you more if you carry excess weight- that’s been our totally non scientific findings! in our work place of 50 staff. Good luck.

AZ last week. All good.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 16/04/2021 07:25

@Suzi888 What's the issue with taking paracetamol?

Rowgtfc72 · 16/04/2021 07:49

@Suzi888 thanks for that. I'm 3 stone overweight but otherwise fit and very active so will see how it goes!

hodgebit · 16/04/2021 07:56

Yes, had jab yesterday... Had AZ.

Felt slightly ill overnight with mild chills but am 90% this morning and generally feel very mildly off colour.

Suzi888 · 16/04/2021 11:35

@SilverGlitterBaubles my doctor said it lowers your bodies immune response. So you don’t get the shivers etc. My DD had chicken pox vaccine privately and I was told no paracetamol. I don’t think it’s a massive issue if you use it though, they said don’t worry either way but if you can get away with not using it then don’t.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 16/04/2021 16:17

Just wanted to add, as it appears some people are having side effects with the AZ, I had the Moderna on Tuesday and the only problem so far has been a sore arm at the injection site which is still quite tender (apparently that's caused by the muscles taking a while to absorb the vaccine solution and not the needle causing damage).

I know most of us don't get to choose what vaccine we are given so I just wanted to reassure people that Moderna doesn't seem too bad for side effects so far.

MummaPI · 16/04/2021 16:51

Where did you have it? Trying to find somewhere in east anglia with Moderna! Grin

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 16/04/2021 17:07

@MummaPI I had it at Plymouth so quite a way from you. It's been offered at 21 centres across the UK I think, as a trail?

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 16/04/2021 17:08

*trial

I think i read on twitter somewhere in Peterborough had Moderna.
User27aw · 16/04/2021 17:08

If thats East Anglia, possibly not that near you.

User27aw · 16/04/2021 17:18

The East of England showground in Peterborough

NotTerfNorCis · 16/04/2021 17:31

I had the AZ one yesterday and was aching most of today, it seems to be finally shifting though.

My OH had the AZ vaccine and he got bad chills, but recovered from it faster than I did.

For both of us, the side effects kicked in about 9 hours after the vaccine.

Ooh thats where I've booked, ta!
Boofay · 16/04/2021 19:28

Age 40, in Wales, had my first vaccination on Saturday (10th). Pfizer! No side effects.

ladygindiva · 16/04/2021 19:46

Myself and partner both aged 46 received the astra zeneca this morning in Cornwall. I'm not sure I've spelt it right? Anyone who's had the AZ able to say roughly how long it took for the dreaded side effects to occur? We are 9 hours list jab and feeling fine but don't want to count our chickens 😂

ladygindiva · 16/04/2021 19:47

Post jab that should read
