Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

@CalamityQueenof3

Thanks so much for the info. Does anyone know if Heathrow are honouring bookings? Nearly 45 DH is booked there today but it's 30+mins each way so don't want a wasted trip. Many Thanks
Let us know how he goes, I’m booked there tomorrow morning, am 45 beginning of June. Hoping they’ll honour them as news reporting under 40s end of the week.
AlexandraEiffel · 25/04/2021 11:39

@ILookAtTheFloor

I'm still diligently checking every hour for 43 year old DH, no joy yet. Think I'll keel over in shock when it doesn't say 'you're not yet eligible to book through this service' and I get through to the next bit!
I got v excited the first time it changed for me!
Shopaholic100 · 25/04/2021 12:02

There is a walk in clinic this weekend in my area and I’ve also checked the national site and it’s letting me book (age 44). I’m not sure which one to go for. Has anyone had the moderna in the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area? If so could you tell me which site.

joanneg36 · 25/04/2021 12:49

I managed to book mine this morning (44 in North London, wasn't working for me yesterday).

The only way I could get the site to work for the second appointment was book it in a different location to the first one. Both are quite nearby though hopefully that's fine.

BessMarvin · 25/04/2021 12:54

@Squidthing

Maybe the booking is open for longer this time to allow more to book by word of mouth before the official announcement? Potentially would avoid website crashing like last time.
That could be it. Think it's making people uneasy though especially with some people having been turned away
BessMarvin · 25/04/2021 12:55

[quote user34254356]The times has reported that under 40s is opening by the end of this week too! Think they forgot about 40-44.

In a few hours it is the end of the week!

WarriorN · 25/04/2021 13:07

Oh, I took that to mean next Friday Confused

BessMarvin · 25/04/2021 13:09

That would certainly allow more time for the missing 40 to 44 year olds!

Frazzled2207 · 25/04/2021 13:24

I would take the times with a piece of salt they said all 40+ would be done by Easter.
I am very hopeful however for 40-44 to be officially called this week and then it could be under 40s at the beg of May

AlexandraEiffel · 25/04/2021 15:05

Just to reassure others, I'm just under 45, booked the other day, and I was just done without a question.

CalamityQueenof3 · 25/04/2021 15:35

He's been jabbed, no problem. Slightly annoyed that he was made to swap a brand new KN95 mask for a surgical mask. We've lived extremely carefully for 13+ months so really hope he doesn't get anything now!

Agreed- I assume it will be all over 40s called by the end of next week and then 35-39 at least 2/3 weeks later.
user68901 · 25/04/2021 18:07

I'm 49 and Sw Surrey and it's a struggling to get the appointments. We have to book both and there is limited availability locally (about 10 miles for closest) for 1st dose and even less for 2nd - Hounslow etc . Being vaccine hestitant , that is not an incentive for me to get the jabs. There were some very busy vaccine hubs locally but that doesn't seem to be an option any more.

user68901 · 25/04/2021 18:20

I mean "even further for 2nd dose "

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 25/04/2021 19:00

@user68901 I'm not sure which area SW Surrey covers but I'm in Surrey and received a text from my GP with a lot of choices. I'd already booked on the website so I cancelled that and rebooked closer to home. Hopefully you'll get a text soon.

SouthOfFrance · 25/04/2021 19:12

Hampshire, Portsmouth health authority. 42 year old friend got a txt from local GP surgery & booked in for next Sunday.

AlexandraEiffel · 25/04/2021 19:24

You might have tried this already but I've found where you can book might change a minute later. One place near me was absent, waited a min and tried again and it was there with loads of availability

Justdowhatyouweretold · 25/04/2021 19:38

There is loads in the press today to say that the under 40s will be called within days.

I'm 43 and can't book yet.

They also state that they are ordering millions of Pfizer jabs so I might wait a week or 2 to get one of those.

Foosterin · 25/04/2021 19:45

@Justdowhatyouweretold I'm 43 and can't book either. It seems a bit weird that we've now had 4 days with new bookings only open to 44 year olds.

TheDukeissoHot1 · 25/04/2021 19:50

Daily fail are reporting today that over 30s will start being invited by end of next week - have I missed news of rollout to age 40-45?

HSHorror · 25/04/2021 19:55

Re swapping a mask- could he not have put his/theirs on top/under?

Eccle80 · 25/04/2021 19:58

@TheDukeissoHot1 the Times were reporting that too, it does seem odd as 40-43 are still waiting! Unless we can book from the early part of the week? I hope we get some head start on the 30s!

Eccle80 · 25/04/2021 19:59

Also a bit odd that several days on the front page still doesn’t mention 44 year olds

Tealightsandd · 25/04/2021 20:00

Does that mean they plan to do 30-45 in one group? Think 40+ should go first, especially if it's true what I read about limited slots and likely having to travel further. The risk increases from 40.

the pfizer seems to be for booster shots for 70 plus.

Almost feels like 40-44 slipped through the cracks or they want to use the Moderna for under 40s and want to kick start with them early?
