Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

Dh sept 76 just booked for next week (West Sussex)!

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 19:58

Dh got the text at the end from the doctor! He wasn’t going to book but I knew they’re vaccinating tomorrow as I’m volunteering there. So 5 mins after my shift has finished he’s getting his.

Oldhag5 · 23/04/2021 21:27

My DH booked his last night and had it today. He’s May 1976.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/04/2021 21:36

I’m a bit worried now. I’ll go and see if they jab me.

AlexandraEiffel · 23/04/2021 22:03

Please report back, fingers crossed for you

I am due at Boots tomorrow for mine. I am May 76 so very nearly 45!

user34254356 · 23/04/2021 22:22

@Sloelydoesit @newmum1976 seems i am centre 2 so maybe it's the AZ one. Guess i will find out on Friday.

Rowgtfc72 · 24/04/2021 05:31

Dh born 1980 still can't book. We're NE Lincs. ( was South Humberside) Friend at works partner got a letter from the nhs Mon that said he can expect to book his vaccination soon. He's 33!!!

Im much older, 49, and had AZ jab Thurs. Would have been in there 5 mins if I hadn't pointed out I had a dodgy reaction to something unknown 15 yrs ago. All I can say is I'm booking the next day off work for the next one. Never felt so rough. Chills, fever and it was a cross between a bad hangover and flu. I started taking paracetamol in the morning and my jab was 430pm. On a brighter note I've woken up this morning feeling wonderful!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 06:42

So far I only have a headache (and a sore arm). So far! I'm going to take regular painkillers and hope for the best!

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 07:26

Hope it doesn't get worse, Noword, are you one if the 45's or the new hopeful 44's?

Blessex · 24/04/2021 07:27

Rest of my 45+ family was done Thursday and today. AZ and mild sweats etc but nothing to write home about when you cast your eye over to India.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/04/2021 07:29

Well I feel like crap today and my arm is sooooo sore!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 07:30

I'm 44, Warrior.

Thankfully (ha!), I'm a headachey kind of person, so I've coped with worse.

Definitely preferable to have had the jab than not.

KatherineJaneway · 24/04/2021 07:39

I keep seeing loads of comments about London having walking centres for vaccines. Seems like people in London who can’t book yet in the national system could go to this places if so and get the jab ?

They have walk ins as there is a lot of vaccine hesitancy. However when they have open days in our borough (you still have to be in line with the NHS website link in terms of age etc) they literally get hundreds of people turning up. It's a way of getting people to get vaccinated, not a surplus of vaccines.

PeonyRose80 · 24/04/2021 07:41

I am 40 and feel desperate for mine - not sure why so desperate so this thread is really useful- thank you

barnanabas · 24/04/2021 07:52

43, booked on Thursday, had it yesterday. No problems at all at the centre.

ChloeDecker · 24/04/2021 07:57

So wonderful to hear lots more are getting their appointments and vaccines.

The side effects sound like they can be tough so kudos to all those riding that out.

Another week gone and closer to the hope that an early 40s me will get the chance to book v soon. Still can’t book on the National site like many of you have and silence from the GP but as always, I live in hope!
(Have taught two classes this week where the next day, a student has had a positive LFT and then PCR test and it always puts me on edge.)

Squidthing · 24/04/2021 09:40

Just had my jab at the pharmacy, they confirmed my dob (44) and she didn't bat an eye so I think sheeplikesheep was unlucky yesterday. I got a sticker too (had to ask) Smile I am so pleased, hoping any side effects hold off until after the pub lunch we have booked today. May take some ibuprofen as a precaution.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 09:58

Bugger. I didn't get a sticker. Booooo! Grin

I'm topping up painkillers regularly. I have a mild, sicky, headache WITH regular painkillers. It would possibly be awful without!

ilovebrie8 · 24/04/2021 10:14

The side effects were rough I felt so bloody awful but we are so lucky to be having the vaccination in the first place. Look at other countries it’s grim. @ChloeDecker it’s not about kudos riding out the symptoms we are fortunate to be in the position of having been given it ...colleagues of mine I deal with in India are on their knees! This country has done amazing with the vaccines ...

Ceara · 24/04/2021 10:26

Had the AZ on Thursday. I booked the night it opened to over 45s, for me and DH - he had his last week, we didn't want to book for the same time so we didn't synchronise side effects. Sore arm and headache yesterday, also not achey as such but felt all over very sensitive, tender and heavy, and very fatigued. Took paracetamol and kept moving and hydrated as advised by the pharmacist. All fine now apart from slightly sore arm still. Feel very relieved and slightly guiltily privileged to have had it. Gutted no sticker though.

AnneofScreamFables · 24/04/2021 11:04

Another one booked for Guys (Centre 2). Anyone know what I will be most likely to have? I don't mind but would like to know what side effects to prepare for!

user34254356 · 24/04/2021 11:44

Sounds like Centre 1 is Moderna and Centre 2 is AZ.

I will call them on Monday to find out and will post pack.

DH same age as me hasn't received the invite so we also want to check why not !!

daisybrown37 · 24/04/2021 12:41

All done( aged 44 booked on Thursday. No issue with being under 45.

Vaccine done at Boots, had to queue for a while but straight forward. Slightly damp bottom from sitting on anti bac wiped chairs - at least I know they were clean!

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 12:42

This is all great news! Hold tight under 44's, I'm sure it's next week!

Anyone know the one at nightingale Washington? I'm guessing AZ.
