Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

I’m 20 minutes away. Thing is the system is now giving me options to rebook elsewhere and I don’t know whether to risk being turned away again or wait until official guidance.

Roomba · 23/04/2021 17:22

I have no idea why my cousins haven't booked online! I strongly suspect that they are expecting the village GP to contact them as happened with their mother (aged 75+, multiple health issues) and they've not bothered to even look up what the process is? I can very well imagine them huffing about having to find info and sort it out themselves and blaming their GP for the national process... If it involves having to travel more than two miles (it will, they're out in the sticks) there will be more huffing Hmm

I shall compile a gently worded text suggesting they Google the process. I'm just glad they are both agreeing to have it given their comments about masks, just a flu blah blah over the last year.

ConnieDobbs · 23/04/2021 17:29

I just got an invite from my GP! I'm 42 and have fairly bad asthma, so I assume it's because of that and not just my age.

ConnieDobbs · 23/04/2021 17:29

It didn't give me an option to book the second dose yet

Squidthing · 23/04/2021 17:35

I've got a pharmacy booking too for tomorrow morning, have any under 45s who've booked since last night successfully had an appointment today?

user34254356 · 23/04/2021 17:43

For those who were invited by St thomas/Guy's, do they know if Guy's is offering AZ or Moderna? I need to pick one. I have some issues and so my haematologist is on the fence about AZ but won't outright say i shouldn't have it.

Pandapawson · 23/04/2021 17:43

What a great thread - I have passed on the link to my DSIS and BIL, both 44. They have now booked. Thank you!

I got called last week via the GP service - I am 41. Had AZ earlier this week (no side effects). London.

I moved last month and my old GP kicked us off their list (even though we moved less than 2 miles away) so I hastily joined a new surgery, I must have got lucky and joined at just the right time - my old neighbour (same age and at my old GP surgery) has not been called. It is so random.

user34254356 · 23/04/2021 17:43

I should've added it seems I have an option to select St Thomas or Guy's.

Yep, me!

It was really straight forward.

Squidthing · 23/04/2021 18:03

Hooray! I will keep my booking, worst case scenario it's a wasted journey and I can just rebook.

sheeplikessleep · 23/04/2021 18:03

It was in a church but the checking in man went to ask the pharmacist there. Think I was just unlucky and got someone who was wary of not following the ‘official’ rules.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2021 18:07

Surely they should know that the system doesn't let you book until you're allowed unlike those of us who checked constantly!?

Tealightsandd · 23/04/2021 18:12

@Tangledtresses

London are definitely banging out moderna for over 40's Our area Home Counties are still doing over 45's with Astra
Must be central London? It's definitely not banging out any vaccine for all over 40s in outer London. Friend is 42 and currently ineligible to book on the NHS site.
KikoMiko · 23/04/2021 18:18

Just had AZ. Was a bit nervous, but the staff at the vax hub are lovely and reassuring. Hoping for no side effects now!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/04/2021 18:30

I took preemptive paracetamol and will take more at 9, 4 hours after. Hopefully it'll head any reactions off at the pass!

ArtemisFlop · 23/04/2021 18:35

Had it 8pm last night. Was fine until
Around 11 this morning when suddenly felt very unwell. Mostly fever but also aches and tenderness, severe headache and just generally feeling down. In bed having taken paracetamol hoping to ride it out quickly.

optimistic40 · 23/04/2021 18:46

Been invited for mine.. I'm 40 and have had Covid already a few months back. Hopefully side effects aren't too bad

newmum1976 · 23/04/2021 18:46

@user34254356

I had AZ at St Thomas’, but they have 2 vaccination centres there, so it will depend if you are a centre 1or 2.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/04/2021 18:47

Oh goodness I hope I don’t get turned away. It’s a really long journey there. I’m not 45, but the system let me book.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 23/04/2021 18:50

I'll be interested to know what other 43/44 year olds' experiences are having booked since the system opened up yesterday. I booked my husband in for next Friday for his jab after reading it was possible on here, but having heard sheeplikessleep's tale, I'm a bit wary now!!

Sloelydoesit · 23/04/2021 18:52

I went to St Thomas' centre 1 yesterday and it was AZ. I couldn't have it and have been rebooked for Guy's centre 1 on Monday for Moderna.
Frazzled2207 · 23/04/2021 18:52

@MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet
I’m sure in a week’s time the “official age” on the website will have been lowered. To 43 or 44 at least.

Tealightsandd · 23/04/2021 18:53

Incredibly unfair to turn away someone who was able to book. People often travel quite far for their vaccines, and what a waste of an appointment. They should've given the jab.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/04/2021 18:56

I’ve got a 2 hr round trip. I can’t imagine they’d turn you away. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

user34254356 · 23/04/2021 19:00

@Sloelydoesit thanks! i also booked for Guy's as it's slightly closer for Friday so i can rest in bed over the weekend. I'll update what I get
