Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

Husband got his vaccine today. Happy wife here :) got text yesterday from gp

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 12:45

@daisybrown37

All done( aged 44 booked on Thursday. No issue with being under 45.

Vaccine done at Boots, had to queue for a while but straight forward. Slightly damp bottom from sitting on anti bac wiped chairs - at least I know they were clean!

Yep. I too had a damp bum! 🤣🤣 Small price to pay, frankly.
sheeplikessleep · 24/04/2021 12:49

I think I was unlucky. I’m waiting to book another appointment as there isn’t another one near at the moment.

YoutubeZoom · 24/04/2021 12:53

@WarriorN

This is all great news! Hold tight under 44's, I'm sure it's next week!

Anyone know the one at nightingale Washington? I'm guessing AZ.

Centre for Life was AZ, so I guess Washington is the same...
Icecreambythesea · 24/04/2021 12:57

I'm 43 and it let me book mine today!

daisybrown37 · 24/04/2021 13:17

@NoWordForFluffy It is a small price to pay indeed. Happy to have got the vaccine.

OublietteBravo · 24/04/2021 13:55

I’ve just had mine (AZ). I’m 45. Very glad to have been eligible.

www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinical-areas/immunology-and-vaccines/covid-vaccine-rollout-to-40-44s-expected-next-week-says-nhse/

Rollout will extend to 40-44 next week.

GPs are not expecting any stock of vaccine for first doses for another two weeks and will focus on second doses.

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 14:08

Thanks YouTube, c4L is second Smile

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 14:10

I'm sorry they did that sheep. Rather jobsworth.

Eccle80 · 24/04/2021 14:40

@ExpulsoCorona thank you, I will keep my fingers crossed we will be able to book next week!

BobBobBobbing · 24/04/2021 14:46

@WarriorN Washington Nightingale is AZ. Dh had his there last week.

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 14:47

Thanks, thought so.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2021 15:01

@WarriorN

Thanks, thought so.
My AZ side effects aren't too bad.

Thank you for posting this one. Really interesting.

Definitely saying enough vaccine in the system without further deliveries for groups 1 to 10. Plus extra Pfizer if needed for those that can't have AZ.

All very reassuring Smile

MRex · 24/04/2021 15:24

If there are already enough doses, then ideally why not let anyone 40+ book, while time is taken with phoning round there could be a couple of million extra sat about building immunity. I've been supportive of all the steps so far, but I don't think I understand why this is the best approach.

TruelyWonder · 24/04/2021 15:37

I think they feel the need to stagger it first to stop the system getting over run. We are talking about several million people being eligible

Secondly the 45 and overs are still more vulnerable in general than the lower 40s.

I agree that obviously jabs in arms are better than jabs in a fridge but they obviously feel the need to give slightly older people a chance to get in first 🤷‍♀️

EasterIssland · 24/04/2021 15:46

I’ve been volunteering today at the local gp and it was 50/50 2nd doses ans 1st doses. Husband 43 was there and his first ex gf as well , think she’s 40-41 so seems like some gps still have supply for first doses as well.

He’s been told that they were doing 1000 people in there today. Def it was crazy helping everyone but I’m glad I was there once again helping people. A woman thanked me loads and told me she was quite emotional.

Kitcat122 · 24/04/2021 16:06

@WarriorN I had AZ felt abit achey and cold for 12 hours then fine. Hubby had no reaction.

WarriorN · 24/04/2021 16:22

Thanks for the reassurance re symptoms! Parents and inlaws had no issues at all.

It is quite emotional Easter. Dh has been struggling a lot recently and this is the lift he needed.

tulips27 · 24/04/2021 16:23

Let's face it, we're all just fed up and impatient now, aren't we? But imagine how late 30s must feel, especially those in customer-facing roles.

newmum1976 · 24/04/2021 17:14
**@Sloelydoesit* @newmum1976* seems i am centre 2 so maybe it's the AZ one. Guess i will find out on Friday.
Centre 1 is AZ as I had mine on Thursday.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/04/2021 17:29

Hi everyone, I’m back and vaccinated with sticker!

Thanks to this thread. Booked Thursday evening. Vaccinated today 43.

Sore arm, but relieved to have been done. Keep trying the website, it will let you in soon.

I felt like I was the youngest person at the vaccination hub, but DH waiting in the car said lots looked to be 30’s. Don’t know if they were.

Vaccination hub much busier than a month ago when I took DH. Had to queue up to drive in. AZ, but I think that’s all they do at this hub.

Midnightstar76 · 24/04/2021 17:50

Had vaccine at Preston St Johns this afternoon. Was worried they wouldn’t let me. Age 44 July 76. Went great. No problems with age and was given Moderna.
