Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

I've had a text asking me to go earlier, so I'm now finishing work early to go!

Mn753 · 23/04/2021 15:43

I think the plan is for over 40s this weekend. From a reputable source

can they do it on Monday...I'm too busy this weekend to check every minute :D
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/04/2021 15:54

Well that was efficient - in and out in 7 minutes!

Comefromaway · 23/04/2021 16:09

Wow! Everyone where I went had to stay 10 or 15 mins afterwards (depending on whether they were driving). One lady was told 30 mins I assume for a specific reason.

sheeplikessleep · 23/04/2021 16:13

Grr just turned up after booking it last night and refused as not 45

MRex · 23/04/2021 16:14

Whaaaaaat? How is that possible when you've got a valid booking reference?

That’s weird!
sheeplikessleep · 23/04/2021 16:19

I know I gave the booking reference and he said he needed to check when he checked my date of birth. Pharmacist said no they have to follow rules and isn’t under 45 yet and they can’t understand how I got through.

I said I put in my date of birth and all details correct. I was on the list when I checked in.

Bet I’ll be back next week. Wasted journey.

sweetheartyparty · 23/04/2021 16:20

June 76 and booked this morning. Thank you

You had a booking and were turned away? I just don’t get this. I am Occasional volunteering at a centre and we have a list of names booked in and we jab them. There is absolutely no checking of eligibility criteria! Obviously different centres do stuff differently
Thingstodotoday · 23/04/2021 16:20

Marble Arch vaccination centre was accepting walk-ins from over 40s all this week.

Ooh will keep checking
Tangledtresses · 23/04/2021 16:22

London are definitely banging out moderna for over 40's
Our area Home Counties are still doing over 45's with Astra

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 23/04/2021 16:24

They are probably preparing the IT to check it all works and then officially announce once they are happy it does. It is odd that you can book it when guidance says over 45 though.

Tangledtresses · 23/04/2021 16:25

@wintertravel1980 I had Astra yesterday felt very odd but nothing major sore arm few aches etc slept a lot...

Frazzled2207 · 23/04/2021 16:27

When I say there is no checking of eligibility criteria I mean we assume that if they managed to book and get on the list they are indeed eligible.

@sheeplikessleep I can imagine the pharmacies are probably independent businesses and so make their own rules. How disappointing.

I've just had my invite from Guys !!

Cheshiresun · 23/04/2021 16:42

Yay! I've managed to book for next week, at one of the large vaccination centres.

Did you have Pfizer or moderna?( rather than Astra Zeneca which doesn’t seem to require a wait)

Yes just waste of time and now they have a spare left over anyway. And I’ve just got a text message asking me to rebook. Don’t know whether to or wait for official guidance for risk of it happening again.
AlexandraEiffel · 23/04/2021 17:08

Oh I'm booked at a pharmacy. Wondering if I should switch to a centre

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 17:11

Was it far away ? If not and they are opened I’d be tempted to go back ans show them the text ans whether you can have your vaccine that will go to waste or have it someone that might be younger than you

WingBingo · 23/04/2021 17:14

Over 40s will be done in smaller tranches this time.

So 43 - 44 age group first, then the next, something like that. As the cohorts become more tech savvy, more appointments are booked on the National Booking Service. So more pressure on the service.

Maybe announced over the weekend or Monday.
