Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

OP posts:
Bordois · 22/04/2021 18:27

My DH is 44 and has just booked his for tomorrow- we come under mid essex

fadingfast · 22/04/2021 18:28

Just had my first vaccine (AZ, Norfolk)! I’m 48 and it felt like a long wait.

Happy to hear that the lower 40s are gradually opening up now Smile

ILookAtTheFloor · 22/04/2021 18:32

@Bordois eek really? We're mid Essex and my husband is 43, just checked the national booking page after reading on Reddit that some under 45s are managing to book there, nothing for my husband though.

It feels like our GP is doing second doses only at the minute.

Jarstastic · 22/04/2021 18:34

Thanks for this thread I asked 44-year old friend to check again today, wasn’t available last night, and bingo. They’ve booked for London on Monday morning.

tulips27 · 22/04/2021 18:37

Maybe it's not open down to age 43, anyone younger than this had any success?

tulips27 · 22/04/2021 18:38

*now open

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/04/2021 18:40

Also I am below the age that was allowed to book when I first saw this so that doesn’t make a difference.

Yes, although he is having to go to Basildon for it, (we are just north of chelmsford).

I had mine done at the race course so I'm not sure if its that all appointments had been taken or if they are doing mostly second doses there and other sites are doing firsts. I know Basildon have moderna whereas chelmsford had AZ.

PeasPeasPeas · 22/04/2021 18:42

This is very exciting. I'm 39 and it seems much closer for me now. I thought the 45-49 would be another couple of weeks.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/04/2021 18:43

I’m 43. My friend down the road, same postcode. Can’t book. So it’s really random.

Eccle80 · 22/04/2021 18:44

No luck for either of us yet, 40 and 41

ILookAtTheFloor · 22/04/2021 18:45

@Bordois I've heard about Basildon having Moderna too! I've already had both Pfizer at Broomfield because of my job.

Our GP is also doing Pfizer as well as AZ (think large village between Chelmsford and Maldon) and my husband just wants to wait to be called but I think it'll be a long wait- there's a very elderly population here and it seems to be second doses only but who knows!

MorganSeventh · 22/04/2021 18:51

Thanks! Just booked mine for next week. 44 and in the West Midlands. Had to book for a different site for the second dose, but glad to get it in the diary.

Eccle80 · 22/04/2021 18:56

For those who have booked, how far ahead are the appointments?

daisybrown37 · 22/04/2021 18:58

Booked this evening for Saturday.
Roszie · 22/04/2021 18:58

So is it 43/44 now?

Hurray for this thread

Eccle80 · 22/04/2021 18:59

That’s great, I didn’t know if the available appointments would be further ahead! @daisybrown37

daisybrown37 · 22/04/2021 18:59

Sorry should add, it only showed me the next 5 days for that centre.

Squidthing · 22/04/2021 19:00

I booked for this Saturday, second in July. Friend booked for Monday, you may have to check a couple of sites to see what is free.

Foosterin · 22/04/2021 19:05

It isn't all 43s. I can't book.

interesting maybe rest of us 40 plus will get access after that 5 day window?
GintyMcGinty · 22/04/2021 19:11

Feel sorry for the 40-50 year olds in Scotland.

Scottish first vaccinations have plummeted to a tiddly little 2,000 per day.

The Scottish under 50s are going to have to wait a very, very long time before they get a jag.

That is depressing especially when you hear of the flurry of bookings across rest of the country. At least some of us 40 plus are in the same camp to keep you company
