Follow-on to the happy thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4210673-Can-the-40-49-age-group-now-book-their-vaccine.

(I'm jabbed, but just here to read happy news of jabs and try to book DH when it's his time.)

At the start it felt like lots of hubs were opening up and there was a good deal of excitement about it. We pass by a hub near us and it’s never open. I’m sure there are reasons, but it feels like it’s slowed down. Also with the second jabs it probably is still at a pace.

Sorry guys, I’m feeling it today. Kids need new shoes and I can’t face the massive store near us at the moment. It’s a mix of issues for me. Took DH a month ago for his jab.

MrsMariaReynolds · 22/04/2021 10:42

DH (48) is finally having his his 1st jab morning. 👍 Unfortunately, it involves a 30 mile round trip via bus as there are no first doses available anywhere locally, it seems.

I've got mine coming up this afternoon. I'm only 38, Wales seem to be smashing it!

CovidHalloween · 22/04/2021 11:38

What’s the vaccination number target before they relax the next set of rules?

Frazzled2207 · 22/04/2021 12:00

Afaik the progress of the vaccination programme, unless severely affected, has no real bearing on lockdown easing. Cases will be the most important factor here, which of course should hopefully be kept low when so many are vaccinated
DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/04/2021 12:29

They keep advertising the % of people who have had their vaccine as 60% + in Wales.
My local authority in N wales has managed 7%.

LazyHorizon · 22/04/2021 12:35

Don’t forget each age cohort will have a section of people who were already covered in previous groups for health or work reasons. So it might not take as long to get through this batch as it looks like it will. Hang in there.

PlugUgly1980 · 22/04/2021 12:46

40 here and been called up via GP Surgery to have my first vaccine on Saturday. (East Yorks/Humber NHS region)

Gwynfluff · 22/04/2021 12:49

Had mine today (Moderna) and most of my friends over 45 in my city had their jabs last week and this week. Lots of appointments, large city hub and lots of surgery hubs offering.

Dahlietta · 22/04/2021 13:08

I'm 40 and just been called via GP.

great news ! in fact Yorks and humber had a relative higher case rate currently than other parts of the country, so it's good they are getting through the group quickly.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/04/2021 13:45

Good to hear of people getting the call. Frustrating waiting. I hope the Drs know I exist.

Eccle80 · 22/04/2021 14:21

Latest figures show 59% of 45-49 year olds vaccinated up to 18th April

Eccle80 · 22/04/2021 14:38

They show 3.7 million as the ONS estimate of 45-49, so about 1.5 million not vaccinated yet from that group, but obviously some will have been done this week and some will refuse

HSHorror · 22/04/2021 14:39

Typical dp has been offered early may but cant make it as the 12w falls when we can t make and they have no flexibility.grr. So have to wait see if they have a mid may date.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 22/04/2021 14:45

I'm getting my first jab on Saturday! I'm 43, in the SE. DP is 48 and had his first one weeks ago as our surgery seemed to be racing through them. Then news of the shortages hit and it seemed to slow down. They're back up to speed now though, and saying there are spare appointments for Sat and offering them to any over 40s in the area, even if they're registered with another GP.

Wakeupin2022 · 22/04/2021 14:46

HS do you need to book 2 appts at once? Dh didn't but his invite came from GO & he only booked 1st dose.

I am waiting for my text but going to soon have the same problem!

Comefromaway · 22/04/2021 15:03

GP invites you don't usually get a second appointment at the time, you wait for them to contact to.

National hubs you book both doses together.

Wakeupin2022 · 22/04/2021 15:07

Thanks Comefromaway

Sloelydoesit · 22/04/2021 15:21

Not vaccinated. Contraindicated for AZ.

But booked in for Monday to have Moderna!

Joisanofthedales · 22/04/2021 15:28

glad you are getting the vaccine you need with your medical issues Sloely. Good luck on monday

HSHorror · 22/04/2021 15:50

Unfortunately our gp automatically give you 12w later same day/time etc with zero flex.
They havent thought it through as we come to second doses being during school hols. Especially as they are for sat so if you go for 1 week thats 2w you cant make.
The hubs once opened to under 45 might work better for this but im not sure there are weeks worth of flex i expect you are still offered around 12w?

user34254356 · 22/04/2021 16:20

Oh no so you travelled over and they said you can't have AZ?

Can I ask where you are booked for Moderna, I don't have an official contraindication but an allergy to immunoglobulin and bruising issue so might prefer an alternative vaccine.

Pashazade · 22/04/2021 16:22

user - a friend had Moderna in Brighton this week (via the NHS website)
