Anyone feeling increasingly anxious about Pfizer?

With all the news re the AZ & J&J vaccines I can’t help but feel a sense of dread when checking the news.

I am starting to think it’s only a matter of time until something horrific comes out about the Pfizer vaccine (which I had)

What a strange time to be alive. Sometimes I still can’t believe this is all happening.

Super interesting, thank you @roguetomato.

C&P the key points below. The age breakdown is interesting and a useful reminder to those who feel that Covid is very low risk for under-30s

They report that CVT is more common after COVID-19 than in any of the comparison groups, with 30% of these cases occurring in the under 30s. Compared to the current COVID-19 vaccines, this risk is between 8-10 times higher, and compared to the baseline, approximately 100 times higher.

The breakdown comparison for reported cases of CVT in COVID-19 patients in comparison to CVT cases in those who received a COVID-19 vaccine is:

In this study of over 500,000 COVID-19 patients, CVT occurred in 39 in a million patients
In over 480,000 people receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna), CVT occurred in 4 in a million.
CVT has been reported to occur in about 5 in a million people after first dose of the AZ-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine.
Compared to the mRNA vaccines, the risk of a CVT from COVID-19 is about 10 times greater.
Compared to the AZ-Oxford vaccine, the risk of a CVT from COVID-19 is about 8 times greater.
However, all comparisons must be interpreted cautiously since data are still accruing.

I have read that the Pfizer dose is 3 weeks apart is that correct ?

mrssunshinexxx · 02/05/2021 07:45

Can I ask would you all have it if you were pregnant?

quiteathome · 02/05/2021 08:22

My Pfizer was 11 weeks.

Wiltshire90 · 02/05/2021 08:28

@mrssunshinexxx I had Pfizer shortly before getting pregnant and will be having my second dose at 12 weeks

usercruiser · 02/05/2021 19:34

The Pfizer vaccine is being recommended for use in over 12’s and pregnant women and would absolutely not be, if they were currently deemed unsafe.

Do you get fillers or botox! Every time you get these, you risk a variety of medical incidents.

Flights, car journeys, pill, dying your hair(unexpected allergic reaction) paracetamol, ibuprofen... there is no risk free medication on the planet, none! The risk is something like 0.0007% of contracting any clots and even less chance of being fatal.

Try not to read the media reports, read the science and you’ll feel better about being vaccinated.

I'm not sure it is correct to say that there have been 1124 deaths FROM the Pfizer vaccine in the USA. 29% of those deaths were in people aged 80 to 89, who might well have died of "natural causes". At least one, I believe, died from being in a car accident

Yeah it is so contradictory.
According to my anti vax relative every death within 28 dsys of vax is caused by the vaccine including a 95 year old.
Yet every death within 38 days of a COVID test is pneumonia caused by mask wearing or some pre existing condition or whatever.

28 sorry. Fat fingers
OP anxiety is crippling. I get it. Best to avoid Mumsnet and Google and get some help.
Also I am sure I read on a thread here that many of the vaccine side effects were actually anxiety symptoms. This actually makes perfect sense given the number of threads relating to anxiety about the vaccine.

When I was 21, I took one dose of a very standard OTC medication which I hadn't had before, and ended up having emergency surgery for a bleed on the brain as a result.

There's a risk with everything and you can't know if you'll be that less than 1 in 1,000 incredibly unlucky person! I think you need to just go with it; 99.999% chance it'll be fine!

bookworm1632 · 03/05/2021 15:17

@Doireallyneedaname

Right, let’s just clarify straight up that the clots with the vaccines are not “just clots” Hmm I’m so fed up of hearing that.

They’re potentially FATAL brain clots which are extremely dangerous and unusual in younger people normally.

They're clots - all clots are potentially fatal - why do you think there was such fuss about DVT?

Yes, the fatality rate with these clots (19%) is much higher than say clots arising from use of the pill, but the incidence of clots from pill usage is MUCH higher. Relatively taking the pill is about 4x more risky than the AZ jab.
