Which areas are booking vaccines for over 40s?

Hi.
Am hearing that some over 40s are getting invited to book vaccines now.

If you have been invited, would you mind saying where you are please (don’t be precise if you don’t want to) and if you’ve been invited to book via local booking system that gives you appointments at the local centres, or via the national booking system to the mass centres/pharmacies.

My DH and I are late 40s and just so confused about what is going on. We were deflated by the news last week about the delays, but lots of people, still seem to be invited, it we can’t work out if it’s in our area and if locally led based on GP surgeries inviting or the national system letting some younger people book.

Hoping there are lots of you out there getting invited and it will be our turn soon too. Thanks.

Feeling really fed up as a 45 year old asthmatic with a previous hospital admission who has not yet been vaccinated.

Tontu · 26/03/2021 10:50

I'm 40, and just had the text from my surgery this morning, with link to switqueue. Booked in for Sunday.
I'm in East Mids.
Pretty shocked, as thought it would probably be May.

HSHorror · 26/03/2021 10:51

Did gp refuse Bunsy? Or just not done all group 6?

Brabant93 · 26/03/2021 10:56

Has anyone from East Cheshire heard anything?

Bayleaf25 · 26/03/2021 15:10

@Chocolatehabit not all of Gloucestershire sadly, just seems to be certain regions/GP surgeries. DH (48) still waiting.

Unless everyone uses the same gp the question is useless. Local face book page would be better and naming the surgery, even better would be calling your gp.
phlebasconsidered · 26/03/2021 15:34

I am 49, asthmatic, a teacher. I've been told categorically not yet by my gp yet others in the surgery in the adjoining area are being done. It seems entirely reliant on postcode.

Hairbear2 · 26/03/2021 15:48

South Somerset, got my invite today

SplendidSuns1000 · 26/03/2021 15:53

Gloucester is starting on over 18s!

Bayleaf25 · 26/03/2021 18:42

@SplendidSuns1000 are you able to be more specific (or pm me?)? I’m in Gloucestershire and 48 year old DH not heard anything yet. Seems entirely dependent on GP. Thanks

Just PM'd you. It's entirely dependent on how quickly GPs can get through their patients, the population of each age group and the centres set up for vaccinations.

DriftGames · 26/03/2021 19:09

My dad & stepmum are in Buxton, Derbys. and have theirs tomorrow at 49yo.

Fred56 · 26/03/2021 19:24

Dh and I have had ours 48 and 46 years. Booked online one last week, one this week with Eventbrite who were offering over 45s no other criteria Stafford area

palacegirl77 · 26/03/2021 19:25

Sheffield is on to 40s

Dartsplayer · 26/03/2021 19:27

49s and 48s were done at our surgery this week - I had mine. Oxfordshire

NHSnamechanger · 26/03/2021 21:43

Exeter no vaccination yet. No one I know has had theirs in their 40’s unless the are NHS/social care/CEV/CV. BIL 50 had his last week in Plymouth.

Hornbeamer · 26/03/2021 22:28

My husband and I are the same age - 46, registered at the same surgery, he has been called along with many local friends but I've heard nothing. Irritating as he can work from home but I have to resume my London commute in a few weeks

Hornbeamer · 26/03/2021 22:29

We are Waverley, Surrey

KurtWilde · 26/03/2021 22:44

Yorkshire

DrMadelineMaxwell · 26/03/2021 22:53

They are only just doing over 55s here (N Wales) yet are advertising over the border in CHeshire for all groups 1-9 to book in if they haven't had their jabs yet.

Wales advertises that they've done a greater % of vaccinations, but that's because they've done a lot of 2nd doses compared to England, which means they haven't been able to roll the offer of the first doses further down the groups yet.

MargaretThursday · 26/03/2021 23:01

@poppycat10
Surrey Heath are doing 40s. Friend had theirs done at the weekend. They were rather surprised to be called.

villagegirlatheart · 26/03/2021 23:16

Guildford, Surrey. 47 with no underlying conditions. Received a text from NHS yesterday inviting me to book.

Rollergirl11 · 27/03/2021 09:10

We are North West Surrey also and I am really hoping that DH 48 (almost 49) with asthma gets his soon. They were offering walk-in appointments to 50+ in our local GP hub last week so I’m really hoping that he hears something this week.
