Which areas are booking vaccines for over 40s?

Hi.
Am hearing that some over 40s are getting invited to book vaccines now.

If you have been invited, would you mind saying where you are please (don’t be precise if you don’t want to) and if you’ve been invited to book via local booking system that gives you appointments at the local centres, or via the national booking system to the mass centres/pharmacies.

My DH and I are late 40s and just so confused about what is going on. We were deflated by the news last week about the delays, but lots of people, still seem to be invited, it we can’t work out if it’s in our area and if locally led based on GP surgeries inviting or the national system letting some younger people book.

Hoping there are lots of you out there getting invited and it will be our turn soon too. Thanks.

I've just booked mine for tomorrow - 46 in NI

@Duckyface
GPs are allowed to use clinical discretion. I'd send a polite letter to the practice manager, explaining your reasons, and asking if they'd include you. Sorry if you've already tried this.

Just got text from GP. 49 in Wiltshire

I had the AstraZeneca one yesterday - no I'll effects at all. Roll on the second one.

Seeing the numbers for our county today, they must surely open it below 50 soon. They have already done nearly 90% of 50-54, and whilst there are second doses to do, the vaccination centres will be empty, as they weren’t open at the time the current second dose people were having their first, so those people will be going back to GPs

Not in my area of West Sussex my GP said they have been told not to start. Next two weeks for GP hub clinics are for 2nd doses.

Perhaps the mass vaccination centre might start. But I am thinking more like end April and moderns

  1. Bradford. Had AZ on Sunday, as did lots of other 40 somethings round here I know. I suspect it is because of low up take in older groups

Yesterday in my area east London, they had a walk in for anyone as they had surplus supply to get rid of before Easter. They vaccinated 3,000 people in a day and did lots of younger people.

I saw it on BBC London News although they said it was for eligible people only? Maybe everyone said they were an unpaid carer...

Stokey · 01/04/2021 20:46

@nordica that was what they were reporting and eligible people had priority, but they were happy to vaccinate anyone. Just asked your name, address DOB, couple of medical questions, no questions about eligibility. I think they needed extra people to finish the batch before it expired.

Late 40s, SE London - had a text from the GP on Thursday and vaccinated on Saturday.
