Which areas are booking vaccines for over 40s?

Hi.
Am hearing that some over 40s are getting invited to book vaccines now.

If you have been invited, would you mind saying where you are please (don’t be precise if you don’t want to) and if you’ve been invited to book via local booking system that gives you appointments at the local centres, or via the national booking system to the mass centres/pharmacies.

My DH and I are late 40s and just so confused about what is going on. We were deflated by the news last week about the delays, but lots of people, still seem to be invited, it we can’t work out if it’s in our area and if locally led based on GP surgeries inviting or the national system letting some younger people book.

Hoping there are lots of you out there getting invited and it will be our turn soon too. Thanks.

N staffs..text from GP with the choice of any time but on the same day as the text message came through.

Buts · 25/03/2021 17:53

I’m 48 and had mine today, in Derbyshire. Apparently they had some doses left today so sent texts out to close by patients but said they have started on the 48’s and 49’s anyway

Lampzade · 25/03/2021 17:55

Kent -

kerkyra · 25/03/2021 17:55

I'm 49,in northants and not heard anything yet.

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 18:07

From what I can gather these texts are coming from individual GP practices rather than via the national system/big vaccine hubs?

I'm 49 and my GP is saying no under 50s at all any more.

MrsMariaReynolds · 25/03/2021 18:10

There's a divide even within our city. Apparently people registered with GPs on the north side of the city are booking and being jabbed already, where as a cluster of GPs to the south and west have been explicitly told NOT to proceed with the next cohort of under 50s.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 25/03/2021 18:12

Is nobody else worried that if GPs are choosing to vaccinate under 40s when they've been told not to, there may not be enough for 2nd jabs in April when we know there will be a shortage? All the 70/80 + people that I know are due their 2nd shots in April.

Do you think the GPs have taken the predicted shortfall into account? I must admit it worries me a little, the rollout has been so good that it would be a shame for a lack of planning to screw it up now. I really hope my worries are irrational.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 25/03/2021 18:14

Sorry, under 50s!

QueenRefusenik · 25/03/2021 18:14

Mine's on Saturday, I'm in Dorset

mrsknottschicken · 25/03/2021 18:21

What part of Surrey are you in @WombatChocolate, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m in Surrey too and we are covered by Surrey Heartlands. I’m near Guildford. My friends, and lots of other people in the town nearest to us, got invited today, all in their 40s and no health conditions. We are in the same sort of area but maybe 3 miles down the road and we’ve not heard anything. I’m not sure if I feel pleased that they seem to be progressing down the age groups, or frustrated at the unevenness of it all. I am a bit worried that come the 29th and the slow down of supply, those in their 40s without invites will have to wait a lot longer, but I probably shouldn’t be so negative.

It’s especially hard as the local vaccination centre at Guildford was doing walk-ins for 45+ today but I got there too late and it was rammed. I was in the queue but we got turned away. And yet my friends have their proper appointments next week now; both 45.

mrsknottschicken · 25/03/2021 18:21

I should add that I’m so pleased for my friends, but I want it to be me too.

mrsknottschicken · 25/03/2021 18:23

Oh, and I should also add that one of the people in the queue said a volunteer told her that our age group would be invited “in a couple of weeks” anyway.

ChallyCreaks · 25/03/2021 18:25

South west London. Lots of my friends in their 40s have had theirs already.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 25/03/2021 18:26

Are all these invites that people are getting coming directly from GP surgeries?

AuntLucy · 25/03/2021 18:28

Gloucs here also. Hope you get your invite soon.

BobsDouble · 25/03/2021 18:28

In Leicester they’re doing lots of social media shout outs for over 45s to come for drop-in appointments for spare vaccines.

MrsBDarcy · 25/03/2021 18:32

Lancashire Just had mine yesterday.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 25/03/2021 18:34

Friends in Derbyshire are being called.

AlexaShutUp · 25/03/2021 18:34

I have mine tomorrow, received the invite this afternoon. I'm 48 and not in any of the priority categories. I'm in the East Midlands and got my text via the GP/local booking system, not the national one.

I was so worried about waiting until May and I really feel very grateful. I hope that others who are anxious will be pleasantly surprised by an invitation very soon.

zafferana · 25/03/2021 18:36

Parts of North London and West Herts, but it's individual GP practices that are cracking on, not the main NHS site.

dannydyerismydad · 25/03/2021 18:38

I'm mid 40s. Have my vaccine booked on Saturday in Berkshire.

Not sure if it's down to age or because DH is ECV

mindutopia · 25/03/2021 18:40

I'm in Dorset. I think it's very localised though. In our area, the GP surgery (which covers a wide area, like it takes 45 minutes to drive from my GP to the other GP surgery in the same practice) is organising local vaccination for everyone. I imagine they're just really organised, while the other area which is like 10 minutes away but a different GP may not be as organised. I'm 40 and had mine yesterday.

Quadrangle · 25/03/2021 18:41

Croydon must have been doing 40s on 2nd March as this MP chap tweeted that he'd had his and that he wasn't at high risk (so presumably not group 6)

Which areas are booking vaccines for over 40s?
hollieberrie · 25/03/2021 18:48

London - Brent

middleager · 25/03/2021 18:58

I'm 48 and DH 47, still waiting. West Mids.

The other surgeries around us are vaccinating under 50s, even down to the late 30s, but because my surgery doesn't vaccinate on site like theirs, feels we have to wait for the national booking.

It's frustrating when I hear of those younger, no families to take care of and Wfh getting it first.
