Which areas are booking vaccines for over 40s?

Hi.
Am hearing that some over 40s are getting invited to book vaccines now.

If you have been invited, would you mind saying where you are please (don’t be precise if you don’t want to) and if you’ve been invited to book via local booking system that gives you appointments at the local centres, or via the national booking system to the mass centres/pharmacies.

My DH and I are late 40s and just so confused about what is going on. We were deflated by the news last week about the delays, but lots of people, still seem to be invited, it we can’t work out if it’s in our area and if locally led based on GP surgeries inviting or the national system letting some younger people book.

Hoping there are lots of you out there getting invited and it will be our turn soon too. Thanks.

@mrsknottschicken

Oh, and I should also add that one of the people in the queue said a volunteer told her that our age group would be invited “in a couple of weeks” anyway.
A friend was working at the vaccination centre my DH went to and she told him to tell me that too but she may have thought I was 50 already so I am not sure.

(we are not far from Guildford or Surrey Heath)

Iloveacurry · 25/03/2021 20:51

I’m 48 and in West Sussex. Still doing over 50s here.

MrsJohnLuther · 25/03/2021 20:53

Hampshire

reallyalurker · 25/03/2021 20:55

Aged 47, Hampshire, notified yesterday to book appointment by GP surgery. Sister and brother-in-law, 43 and 41, also in Hants, have both been notified today by their GP surgery to book their appts.

boon · 25/03/2021 20:58

West Sussex

boon · 25/03/2021 20:59

They just started doing 40's yesterday. Lots of local people called by GP surgery.

Bluntness100 · 25/03/2021 21:15

Op, I think thr national hub booking system is still at over fifties. However individual gp surgeries if they have available doses and have completed that cohort are moving down the list and using their vaccines up rather than let them go to waste.

So unless you speak to your own gp surgery directly no one can advise, as the national hubs won’t move below group nine until this delay is over Ie they are assured of the supply to be able to deliver the second doses.

Butternutsqoosh · 25/03/2021 21:15

Hampshire but my GP surgery is relatively small, they've absolutely whizzed through them, I'm 46 and got mine in the morning

2bazookas · 25/03/2021 21:33

Asian friend in Glasgow had his first jab last week. He's 44, fit with no health issues other than vulneraable ethnicity.

@mrsknottschicken

What part of Surrey are you in *@WombatChocolate*, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m in Surrey too and we are covered by Surrey Heartlands. I’m near Guildford. My friends, and lots of other people in the town nearest to us, got invited today, all in their 40s and no health conditions. We are in the same sort of area but maybe 3 miles down the road and we’ve not heard anything. I’m not sure if I feel pleased that they seem to be progressing down the age groups, or frustrated at the unevenness of it all. I am a bit worried that come the 29th and the slow down of supply, those in their 40s without invites will have to wait a lot longer, but I probably shouldn’t be so negative.

It’s especially hard as the local vaccination centre at Guildford was doing walk-ins for 45+ today but I got there too late and it was rammed. I was in the queue but we got turned away. And yet my friends have their proper appointments next week now; both 45.

I'm also in Surrey and come under Surrey Heartlands. This week they have been inviting over 50s to walk in clinics and I've been keeping an eye out in case this is extended to over 40s but nothing yet.

London, loads of people I know in early to mid 40s

2anddone · 25/03/2021 21:43

Norfolk our local dr surgery were vaccinating the 40-49 on Saturday last week

OrangeBananaFish · 25/03/2021 21:53

So these GP surgeries that are not moving forward to 40+ when they have done all the 50+ they can what are they doing with these vaccines? Are they getting people in sooner for 2nd jabs or letting them go to waste? Really hope its the former.

Early 40's here in rural North Yorkshire and nothing yet (but I'm happy to wait TBH)

PrimalLass · 25/03/2021 21:55

We seem to be miles away from that in Scotland even though we've jabbed about the same % of the population.

nordica · 25/03/2021 21:57

On another thread someone posted the breakdown of vaccination stats so far and 22% of all 18-49 year olds have now had a first dose... Some of them will of course be in the CEV and health and social care worker categories. But I guess that means that once they do officially move to inviting us under 50s, there won't be quite as many people to vaccinate as nearly a quarter have already been done.

Dryadia · 25/03/2021 21:58

Family member in Essex, near Colchester 43 years old, as far as I am aware, very fit and healthy, just had hers this week.

WeIcomeToGilead · 25/03/2021 21:59

@sleepwouldbenice

Wirral here too - I think the fact that I’m living in a town with LOADS of pensioners means that the demographics might be playing against me ?

Holidayshopping · 25/03/2021 22:01

Doing 48/49 year olds in parts of Essex.

Doubledoodlemummy · 25/03/2021 22:12

Yorkshire- both husband and myself had the jab this week

Careylisa · 25/03/2021 22:12

I'm 40 and had mine done last week as did my husband and most of our friends, who are Late 30's and early 40's. Coventry

BellsaRinging · 25/03/2021 22:17

Gawd Careylisa I'm older than you and I Cov and no sign!

jellyjellyinmybelly · 25/03/2021 22:22

Husband is a gp in Oxfordshire and they've done all their 50+. His surgery were told by national authority (jcvi I think?) at 6.20pm yesterday that they were allowed to use the 90 Pfizer doses they'd been given on 49 year olds. It all expired tonight! Luckily they managed to book enough 49 year olds in to use it all today. They're not allowed to bring forward second doses.

He's frustrated to hear of all you guys being offered it as the powers that be have been so strict with them about not going below 50 until now.

jellyjellyinmybelly · 25/03/2021 22:26

They were told they couldn't use it up on second doses and instead were going to give it back to be redistributed but then the powers that be decided they didn't want it back for redistribution after all.
Don't get me wrong it's great to hear the pace of jabbing is so high but husband just spent ages in meetings and emails being told they HAVE to follow the rules it's weird it seems rules are being broken all over the country in other Surgeries!
