When will they start vaccinations on group 10?

Admittedly, I am a little obsessed with the vaccination rollout and CAN'T wait to be vaccinated. I am 46, no underlying conditions and therefore I belong to group 10.
Given there are 32m people in groups 1-9 and we have vaccinated about 28m as of two days ago, do you think the online calculators are reliable saying I should expect to be called anytime from next week?

Please adjust my expectations with more facts!

@Bluntness100

I am one of those aiming not to be anxious. 55, have CFS and am still waiting because of the demgraphics of my area

Why are you waiting? It’s open to all over 50s nationally. You just go on line and book. In fact you’re being urged to.

I have booked, and said so in that same post! The only booking available to me was at the very end of the time slot for my age group! I booked as soon as the online system allowed me to!
Caps444 · 26/03/2021 15:39

Happy for you that you are booked.

MorningTeas · 26/03/2021 15:41

If you turn up at a vaccination centre at the end of a day before they close, if they have any vaccinations left, they will give you one. Lots of people have not been turning up to there appointments, I know of many people, different ages who have done this and been vaccinated, better to use them and as the vulnerable and elderly have been vaccinated they are now allowing this.

RedToothBrush · 26/03/2021 15:51

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9402531/NHS-Covid-figures-parts-England-vaccinated-people-aged-50-55.html

There is a search tool just on the right near the top of this article where you can see a break down of the number of people vaccinated in your council by age.

I think GPs are trying to get as many people through as possible before April and they start to stop 1st dose appointments atm.

Its not great news if you haven't had one as the second shipment of 5 million doses from India has been blocked. Thats in addition to the ongoing row with the EU. Its likely thats going to prolong a delay to those in lower age groups.

Badger2021 · 26/03/2021 15:53

Don't the vaccines just keep for the next day? Only the Pfizer has to be used up?

I got mine (az) cuz they had 5 spares and 3 people left to come (they were damm late!) , it was on a Saturday so unsure whether they'd have been able to use them on Monday somewhere else(my gp only does weekends)
MorningTeas · 26/03/2021 16:05

Maybe they have as many as they need for that day and are just happy to use them on other people if people don't turn up. At the end of the day the more people who have the vaccine the better, I think, where the most important groups have mostly been done now they are not as strict.

middleager · 26/03/2021 16:17

One GP said on a thread that they have a batch of AZ that have a use by of 31/3 so they were calling everybody they can before then, so appears there is a short expiry date.

wonderwoman1988 · 26/03/2021 16:24

@HolmeH

The entitlement in this thread is shocking. Be bloody thankful there is a vaccine at all. Be bloody thankful you live in the U.K. who are one of the few countries steaming ahead with vaccinating. (yes, we haven’t handled it so well overall but vaccines we really are). You will all get a vaccine in time. If you are under 50, the risk is low. Even in the 50’s it is.

There are people far far more vulnerable than the under 50’s around the world who won’t get a vaccine for months if not years. Be grateful you’ll get one by July probably 🤯🤦🏼‍♀️

First works entitlement much.

This isn't entitlement! This is a matter of life and death for some people. You seriously need to look up the term entitlement!
Badger2021 · 26/03/2021 16:24

I work over the road from a vaccination centre, I suppose I could ask one of the volunteers in the car park!

Chasingsquirrels · 26/03/2021 16:36

I had a GP text to book last night and am going on Sunday.
48 & no underlying conditions, in Cambridgeshire.

Given the announcement last week I wasn't expecting it.

MorningTeas · 26/03/2021 16:48

@Badger2021 I would definitely go and ask, worse case they say no, if you don't ask you don't get.

It also seems lots are doing what @Caps444 said and booking as an unpaid carer, I know 2 people who done that this week. Asked no questions and were given it.

I think it would be different if the most vulnerable and elderly were not vaccinated but they are, so why not just vaccinate as many as possible before they stop.

Tontu · 26/03/2021 16:53

I'm 40 and got the text via go this morning; booked in for Sunday.
Seems to be a lot of variation depending where you live (I'm east mids).

alwayswantchocolate · 26/03/2021 17:09

I had a text from my GP inviting me to book my vaccine today.

I'm 45, Central Bedfordshire, none of the underlying conditions on the list. I'm booked in for Monday morning.

Hope that helps / gives some hope. I know how it feels to want the vaccine but need to wait. With two DC at school, I was feeling exposed so I get it.

Pissedoff1234 · 26/03/2021 17:34

My DH has just booked his jab after a text from his GP.

He is 43 and rarely even goes to the doctors, very fit and has no underlying issues.

Wakeupin2022 · 26/03/2021 22:52

My area is still booking over 40's. Not sure for how much longer!

Unfortunately its not dropped down low enough for me yet......it is what it is. Glad DH is done

Itsalonghaul · 27/03/2021 07:31

Our area is still booking 40s too. No sign of any appointments stopping. I am sure they will just keep going!

StarcourtMall · 27/03/2021 07:36

DH and I both got a text yesterday to book through the NHS website. We are 47 and 45. We may be registered as carers but not sure. We are booked in for tomorrow.

Frazzled2207 · 27/03/2021 08:41

I have 5 very good friends strewn across the country we’re all 42. One has been called and two husbands have been called (same age and slightly older).

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/03/2021 08:47

I had mine last week and I'm 49. Got a text to book from my GP.

The woman who vaccinated me said that uptake had been poor in the age group my area has reached (presumably 40-49) so on the day I went in, they'd had a massive push to get teachers in, contacting all the local schools.

buttery81 · 27/03/2021 09:10

As a 40 something I’m just thankful that my jab should be arriving soon. A family member in Spain is in her 70s and hasn’t heard anything yet!

Badger2021 · 27/03/2021 09:14

But is it arriving any time soon?? That's the point.

Caps abhorrent suggestion. I have reported this post as its the height of irresponsibility.

There are groups for a reason.........
