When will they start vaccinations on group 10?

Admittedly, I am a little obsessed with the vaccination rollout and CAN'T wait to be vaccinated. I am 46, no underlying conditions and therefore I belong to group 10.
Given there are 32m people in groups 1-9 and we have vaccinated about 28m as of two days ago, do you think the online calculators are reliable saying I should expect to be called anytime from next week?

Please adjust my expectations with more facts!

I have booked, and said so in that same post! The only booking available to me was at the very end of the time slot for my age group! I booked as soon as the online system allowed me to!

I’m sorry I don’t understand, the op is 46 and not eligible cor the nationwide, you are 55 and are. Until the groups change she will have to rely on her individual gp

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/03/2021 09:20

I had a post deleted for challenging that suggestion!?

Utterly ridiculous!

What don't you understand Bluntness? That on the day the online booking allowed me to book, same date as every other over 50 year old, the demographics of the area I live in meant that the ONLY time slots available for me were towards the end of the period alloted?

I had a GP call 2 days later, they offered me a booking on the same day as the one I had already booked.

Someone has to be at the end of the list. In this it seems it is me!

I didn't think that was much of a mystery!

They’re vaccinating under 50s in my area now - started inviting people this week.

Really @Caps444? Wouldn’t I need evidence that I was one? I suppose I do look after the DC and don’t receive a penny for my efforts! Grin

NoAuthorityAtAll · 27/03/2021 09:27

I was able to book an appt immediately - for the same day as I received the text invitation.

Scarby9 · 27/03/2021 09:28

A friend, 46, has been called for Monday. North Yorkshire.

buttery81 · 27/03/2021 09:29

To be honest I’m actually happy to wait my turn - I barely leave the house anyway these days apart from to go for walks, and considering my age, it shouldn’t be long now until I get the call.

Op, call your gp surgery, often they are not open at the weekends though. It’s individual. Via the national hubs you won’t be eligible for an undetermined period, until they move to the next group, but it is hugely possible your gp is ahead of the schedule and may call you in.

WombatChocolate · 27/03/2021 09:39

There is a difference between being eligible to book in your local area, ahead of the national roll-out age group, because your GP has got ahead and moved into your group, and lying about being a Carer, to get an appointment ahead of eligibility.

Yes, the system isn't 'fair' in the sense some areas are ahead of others. It's more efficient though for those that have demographics which allow them to push ahead to do so. But if you're in an area which isn't ahead, that doesn't justify LYING to clain a vaccine. It might be that lots of people are doing this, but again that doesn't justify it.

Those who have lied about being carers, in their own minds and to others should be willing to admit to the reality of what they have done....lied and cheated the system, rather than telling themselves or others it's perfectly legitimate because some areas would be vaccinating their age group or because others are lying too. If you're morally dubious, that's your choice, but at least acknowledge the fact.

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross

I had mine last week and I'm 49. Got a text to book from my GP.

The woman who vaccinated me said that uptake had been poor in the age group my area has reached (presumably 40-49) so on the day I went in, they'd had a massive push to get teachers in, contacting all the local schools.

Friend in Trafford who is a teacher got called up like this. End of the day school was called and teachers asked to come in.
Judashascomeintosomemoney · 27/03/2021 09:43

There is a search tool just on the right near the top of this article where you can see a break down of the number of people vaccinated in your council by age
In my area (well, between two areas) there’s high 90%+ take up for all groups until you get to the 50-54 group where it drops away considerably. Might just be because they were only able to book later but might be take up will be lower. Either way there was front page headlines in the local papers urging people to book because there’s so many appointments/vaccines available over these last few days. But, according to the local FB there doesn’t seem to be any under 50s being called in by GPs in this area. I hope that means they’re moving straight to second jabs as from Monday or those available vaccines might be going to waste - what’s the shelf life for them?

NoAuthorityAtAll · 27/03/2021 09:52

I was told there’d been low take up in the 50-59 age group in my area, hence moving on to the under 50s already.

Lying to get the vaccine is pretty low behaviour. Hmm

Stillgoings · 27/03/2021 09:53

As suspected, the article confirms that our area is the worst in the country ☹️. I think it must be a combination of an elderly population and a lack of nearby mass vaccination centres that have caused it. They have just opened a mass vaccination centre in town so I hope that will get the 50s and 60s finally sorted. But as a 47 year old, I have zero hope of getting it before May ☹️

septemberismyfavouritemonth · 27/03/2021 09:53

I'm 48 with no underlying conditions and was called for mine this week (Barnet North London). Had it yesterday and they said they were doing over 45s

Seems a similar situation here too. Nobody under 50 seems to be being called yet. One of the local GP practices has partnered up as a consortium with a few others locally and has posted on social media that they will not be calling any under 50s at all and not to call to ask. They have said that they will concentrating on 2nd doses for the foreseeable. The mass vaccination close by is also closing for a few weeks in April as they won't have the doses available. I just hope that the foreseeable isn't too long! As a soon to be 49 year old, I'm pretty keen to get vaxxed.
malaboi · 27/03/2021 21:42

I got mine (30s) but i'm in group 6 but I know some teacher friends in their mid to late 30s who have it. At my vaccine appointment there were lots of younger people (could all be priority groups though). The centre I went to (London) are doing 200-300 jabs a day.

EasterIssland · 28/03/2021 10:05

People under 50 in the UK will begin to be offered Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine within three weeks, according to a report in the Mail on Sunday.

More than 500,000 new doses of the US vaccine will be used to expanded the programme to people in lower age cohorts in mid-April, the paper says.

Doctors are expected to administer the first doses of the new vaccine, which will join Pfizer and AstraZeneca in the UK’s vaccine stocks, within three weeks.

Just seen this.

@RedToothBrush
I really like hearing stories like this- I’m in a borough next door to trafford.
Common sense IMO.
That all said it does just accentuate the postcode lottery- our gp hub locally says it is now not vaccinating anyone under 50 and it’s strictly 2nd doses at this point. I just hope they do take a pragmatic attitude when it comes to no-shows etc That all said it would probably not be in their best interests to blag about it even if they did have teachers on their reserve lists as someone would probably complain

Frazzled2207 · 28/03/2021 11:04

@EasterIssland

I can’t find it. Az has always been 12. Pfizer was 3 but then moved to 12 when we had limited access to it and thought it’d be better more people protected. But we’re not in that scenario right now I guess
In Wales atm they have a five week policy on Pfizer (hence they are well ahead on second shots) but Az folks have to wait 12. The evidence on Az seems to suggest that a longer gap is better. I’m a volunteer on the novavax trial and it has definitely only been tested on 21 day gaps. So interesting to see what they do with that when it comes too.
