When will they start vaccinations on group 10?

Admittedly, I am a little obsessed with the vaccination rollout and CAN'T wait to be vaccinated. I am 46, no underlying conditions and therefore I belong to group 10.
Given there are 32m people in groups 1-9 and we have vaccinated about 28m as of two days ago, do you think the online calculators are reliable saying I should expect to be called anytime from next week?

Please adjust my expectations with more facts!

I wasn't champing at the bit during the vaccination of the earlier groups.
You might have felt different if it had all suddenly ground to a halt just before your group.

Some of us are 'champing at the bit' anyway, and I'm one of them. Not ashamed of that. If it's so much of a risk for people a few months older than me then yes I do want mine ASAP and not in 6 wks plus

Hotcuppatea · 25/03/2021 10:38

@HarryLimeFoxtrot

I’m in group 6 and still waiting to be called. I suspect I’m even more impatient than you are. I’m starting to worry that I’ve been forgotten about.
Just book using the national booking service
daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 10:38

Yes, it would be nice to at least have a date to work towards Frazzled2207

Purpletomato · 25/03/2021 10:41

@daisiesinmay

Was that directly through your GP Purpletomato?
Text was directly from GP surgery with link to book online.
SvenandSven · 25/03/2021 10:42

My dh 47 got a phone call yesterday to invite him for a jab this afternoon. He has no health issues so is group 10.

TankGirl97 · 25/03/2021 10:46

I'm assuming May. I think there's a chance in April if there's excess after second doses are done, but not holding my breath on that one.
Do we know when Moderna is arriving? All I remember hearing is Spring.

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 10:50

Thanks Purpletomato

bitheby · 25/03/2021 10:52

I've just had mine. I don't know what group I'm in as I'm 44, I work for the NHS but not in a patient facing role and I'm also autistic. I was invited to attend rather than booking through work.

Mine may yet be cancelled! I don't know! I could get covid in the next week or so. Supplies could run out, anything! I don't know but refuse to focus on it.

And the dates based on age are abitrary in part. Why read so much into that?

I understand the fear, anxiety about it, I just don't get the personalising of it all!

What is the date your group is supposed to be done by? I didn't look for mine as we live in an area with a high volume of vulnerable and older people. Care homes of all sorts make up a high % of the local population and GP list. Assume the last days of that time slot and you won't be setting yourself up for further, constant, disappointment.

daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 10:56

What is the date your group is supposed to be done by?

That's the whole point - there isn't one!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/03/2021 11:04

Why? Are you under 18?

@Lalalablahblahblah

There are no dates given for anyone under the age of 50 (unless they are in group 4 or 6). That's the problem. We're an afterthought! I don't mind waiting until the over 50's have been done but I do mind having no idea when they're aiming for especially with the constant messaging of how important it is to get jabbed, and now the fact we might even need to have been done before we can go to the pub!
But the dates set remain: should all be done by 31st July.

There was no more certainty for the other groups!

@Lalalablahblahblah

But 18-49 have just been told 31st July. The group isn't broken down by date at all. The older groups had a date given for over 80s, another for over 65s and then one for over 50s didn't they?
Nope!

There was an upper age group to Feb 15

Then the next group by April 15 in this order:
60 - 69
Over 16 with underlying healt conditions
Unpaid carers got added
Then 50 - 59.

The dates didn't change, I don't think. Members of that middle group did, which is why, at 55, I am now almost last on the list!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/03/2021 11:11

@Lalalablahblahblah

There was though. They seperated out groupes 1-4, then 5-9 with set dates given beforehand. Also there was no talk of needing vaccine passports then to go out
Passport conversations are based on the ever changing world response though. Lots of it changes depending on what happens elsewhere.

It's not a static situation. Expecting certainties, dates is unrealistic.

@Lalalablahblahblah

Not just world situation! They're reporting the potential of needing them for pubs as well
What? The UK isn't in the world?
daisiesinmay · 25/03/2021 11:23

CuriousaboutSamphire If you are 55 then you can get on the national website and book yours today.

It's good for you that you're so chill about it, but other people want to know when theirs can be because the situation is causing great stress. That's how we feel and it's completely understandable to most, even if you can't understand it yourself.

mindutopia · 25/03/2021 11:26

I'm 40 and in group 10 and I had mine yesterday. Our area has had quite good uptake and they were starting on 50-59 year olds about 3 weeks ago, so it's very regional.

nordica · 25/03/2021 11:26

The stats don't really make sense unless they have already vaccinated lots of people are actually not in the 1-9 priority groups. Even with high take up, if they've now vaccinated 28.5 million and groups 1-9 should be about 32 million, then that group should be nearly done now.

For what it's worth, lots of anecdotal stories from people in their 30s and 40s on here and social media of already getting their jabs and have no underlying conditions that would put them in group 6. And I guess the randomness of it is the most frustrating bit... at least when they were working through the earlier groups of people in their 70s for example, you didn't suddenly hear lots of your 50 year old friends had already been invited early. But those of us in our 30s/40s have now been told we'll get ours by 31st July although some in our age groups have somehow got theirs already by 31st March - that's a long wait for those of us not so lucky in the vaccination invite lottery with restriction easing and infection rates sure to go up in our age groups.

Fifthtimelucky · 25/03/2021 11:28

Easy for me to say, I know, because I have now had my first vaccine, but I don't think it's going to be long to wait for the over 40s, especially as many already seem to have been done. No one will be forgotten.

The postcode lottery has been an issue since the beginning. Two friends and I all had our first doses last week, in different areas of the country. We are 60, 56 and 54. The youngest had hers first. I am the eldest but had mine last. It's frustrating, but could be so much worse.

mindutopia · 25/03/2021 11:30

You should ask around with older people how it's working in your area. The national booking website says only 50+ and I couldn't book through there when I tried last week. But we all received a text from GP months ago to say we'd be texted when local vaccination efforts meant they were ready for our group (dh and I are group 10 and 11). I got the text on Saturday and had it done yesterday, even while the national website still wouldn't let me book.

So I would ask (older) people near you how they were notified as you may be surprised you get in faster than you realise.

There was definitely no signs of shortage when I was there yesterday. They were churning through people and all were 40s to mid 50s looking.
