London protest

Another anti lockdown protest in London, the police will be criticised if they arrest anyone, they cannot win. Why can't people just stay at home, haven't enough people died.

@User133847

It's just tone death to be protesting now, when things are about to open up. Where were they in January or February?

It's bored people wanting an excuse to go out and mingle on a Saturday afternoon when the pubs are closed and the weather's not so cold.

You must keep up dear, there’s been monthly protests since early last year. It’s no good putting your fingers in your ears and pretending you’re not listening People have been fighting for our freedom..all blasted year!
LunaHeather · 21/03/2021 19:03

Exactly Dowser. And last year we were told "don't be stupid, it will be over soon".

Dowser · 21/03/2021 19:04

@WouldBeGood

I think let’s get back to normal is the only sensible thing to do now
Thank god for some critical thinking. Absolutely

Some people are just not worth saving 😡
tangerinelollipop · 21/03/2021 19:06

People have been fighting for our freedom

What freedom? We are trying to control a pandemic here.

I very much doubt militant posters have a clue of what lack of freedom and civil rights really looks like.

Malahaha · 21/03/2021 19:07

You must've missed The News in Jan, 60k daily cases and nearly 2000 daily deaths but 'spread is minimal'. Jesus.

The death rate for the healthy is

Dowser · 21/03/2021 19:08

@tangerinelollipop

As I’m over 65 myself

Dowser people in your situation should be grateful that the government is rolling out the vaccination programme so fast in order to get us out of this mess as soon as possible. Instead, you instigate unrest so that they have no choice but to extend the lockdown. I'm puzzled by your attitude TBH

Really? I can’t think why. I’ve made my stance on here very clear. I’m living my life as normally as possible . No more, no less.

No one needs to do anything for me.
I’m perfectly fine taking care of myself as I have done since I became an adult.
As we all should.

msbehavin · 21/03/2021 19:10

Good lord, @GetOffYourHighHorse and @tangerinelollipop, I've got Year 7s who can think more critically than either of you.

You keep on keeping your heads in the sand.

tangerinelollipop · 21/03/2021 19:11

At least see some sense and please stop agitating. It will make the situation worse, can't you see that?

Dowser · 21/03/2021 19:14

@WouldBeGood

I’ll instigate unrest with you *@Dowser* 😃

I’m terrified my older years are being taken from me in the name of keeping safe. I want to love my life, not exist.

Exactly and if Boris thinks giving us freedom to see someone outside and sit on a bench with them is giving us our freedom back He hasn’t read the room Or hasn’t been to Durham.

It was absolutely wonderful up there.
People mingling, sitting in the square with a coffee and cake
All the young ones out letting their hair down
We were passed by a couple of police who just said , hi to us

Just a little of so much needed normal
No one unsafe, no grannies were killed In The course of an afternoon

In fact chatting to an elderly grannie on a bench overlooking the river , I inspired her to join in the
Stand in the park movement.

msbehavin · 21/03/2021 19:14

@tangerinelollipop

I simply point you to Germany in 1933

Why do some keep going on about this nonsense?

I will in turn point you to the Russian Revolution 1917. Do people genuinely believe that unruly violent protests will lead us to Nirvana? The naivety on this thread is worrying

Do you actually know what we're talking about?

It doesn't appear that you do.

Germany in 1933 and the Russian Revolution in 1917 have nothing in common. You've entirely missed the point of the whole conversation.

Please go and read the news. Then maybe you might understand what the problem is here. The government is currently pushing through a bill that will remove our right to protest peacefully, forever.

If you can't understand what the consequences of that are, then I despair.

LunaHeather · 21/03/2021 19:16

Have you ever considered adopting a middle aged woman? I'm a rubbish cook but my admin skills are good and I know a lot of great tunes to play in the car Grin

Of ffs! Do you know, I’m starting to feel really sorry for you. They’ve done a right number on you haven’t they. You poor thing. You really need to be de programmed.

Did you see my earlier post..police were going about their patrols, low key, not in riot gear
Passed us and said hi , to me and dh

So obviously, there wasn’t a problem.

But there was..cos you have one!

Jeez, if it wasn’t so serious, and I felt so concerned for you
I’d laugh.

Anyway, I’m off to catch up on my flower arranging.

Livinginthecity · 21/03/2021 19:19

A little caff round my way has put a few tables outside which isn't strictly in line with the rules I suppose and already a lockdown enthusiast has denounced them on the local neighbourhood app. People with clipboards are enjoying themselves too much. I very much doubt that restrictions will be lifted for the rest of this year.

😂😂😂 There’s a whole army of us out there If you do a stand in the park Wear or carry something yellow..to help to be identified by like minded souls

( those that aren’t beyond redemption that is)

AlecTrevelyan006 · 21/03/2021 19:20

i totally understand why some people are protesting

Livinginthecity · 21/03/2021 19:21

I don't see why the anti lockdown demo is worse than the Clapham vigil.

Dowser · 21/03/2021 19:22

Cant bear snitches A turd in the letterbox soon sorts them out.

I’m not advocating that of course. Naturally and obviously 😂
Putting a turd through anyone’s letterbox is a totally disgusting and abhorrent thing to do.

( why would anyone do that ? 🤔)

tangerinelollipop · 21/03/2021 19:24

our right to protest peacefully

Most protests last year and now are hardly peaceful, that's the problem. I'm not saying the Bill as it stands is the answer, but something needs to be done. The constant fuelling of unruliness and riots will be detrimental to all of us

LunaHeather · 21/03/2021 19:25

Am googling stand in the park and can't find anything in london. Bummer.

yahyahs22 · 21/03/2021 19:25

Good for them. Theres actually between 50000 and 10000000 people protesting. Because we can't go on like this, covid or no covid

BonnieDundee · 21/03/2021 19:25

We went for takeaway yesterday and an independent cafe had their usual tables outside (in the country, not in town). We drove 3 miles to get there. Tables were all full so we ate our sandwiches in the car. I thought good for them and I'll make sure I eat there when all is normal again.

Btw no grannies were murdered in the collection or eating of this lunch

Livinginthecity · 21/03/2021 19:28

The people who turned out to Clapham were there for a noble cause, whereas the people who turned out yesterday are "Gammon." Am I right?

thosetalesofunexpected · 21/03/2021 19:31

I have been on Protests and they have been peaceful the ones I have been on

Do you think that if suffergrates had not protested you would have the freedoms we have take for granted today then !?

@Tangerineolollipop

MercyBooth · 21/03/2021 19:41

@msbehavin Flowers Fully agree with your posts. Luckily apart from being too small (one bedroom social housing flat) my home and the person i live with (DH) is fine.
The Government have behaved like an abusive partner. The relationship i mentioned was with an ex a long time ago. And this being meted out to us now feels worse. Im trying to eat a bit better but when its the only thing you have to look forward to its very hard. Im just on the cusp of starting the menopause as well.
