Another anti lockdown protest in London, the police will be criticised if they arrest anyone, they cannot win. Why can't people just stay at home, haven't enough people died.

Those situations aren't just an outdoor affair, there are lots of shared indoor facilities being used by a high volume of people, presumably. You could take it up with Vallance if you aren't certain about the voracity of the statement.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 20/03/2021 17:34

@msbehavin I absolutely agree. We are living in very worrying times

@msbehavin fantastic post! Absolutely spot on.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 20/03/2021 17:35

I have sympathy with the protesters

MaxNormal · 20/03/2021 17:36

@msbehavin brilliant post.

NoseinBook3 · 20/03/2021 17:38

If I lived closer than I would be there

BelleHathor · 20/03/2021 17:40

MsBehavin Thank You! 👏 👏 👏

I've noticed something. A lot of the critisism on Twitter seems to be from the more, should we say, social justice warrier types. They really don't like to see the predominantly working-class protests. I notice a lot of comments that they're anti-immigrant, racist, mouth breathers etc.

What makes you think people are going to die because they are at a protest?

The chances of catching covid outside are minimal.

Dolciedolly · 20/03/2021 17:48

@msbehavin thank you for standing up for our liberties !!

I agree with this too. Lockdown if often a more comfortable experience for the middle class - can work from home, comfortable house with garden etc. Massive failure of empathy amongst many, who don't seem to get that it isn't like this for all.

msbehavin Excellent post. Sums up exactly what I wanted to say. I read a very worrying article this morning about the amount of legislation the government has passed during the pandemic without any parliamentary scrutiny. It was most concerning, particularly when you think of the calibre of the Cabinet in our current government.

OP I bet you weren’t expecting the majority of replies to disagree with you were you? Point proven the tide has turned and people have had enough!

jupitermars1345 · 20/03/2021 18:09

Honestly I'm shocked so many people have complied for this long tbh.
I didn't think the majority would comply with another full national lockdown after the first one .

Totally agree
Wellbythebloodyhell · 20/03/2021 18:18

why can't people just stay at home

That's exactly what they're protesting against!

I'm surprised it's took this long to be honest

Witchesbelazy · 20/03/2021 18:26

I don’t blame them and I’m neither far right , racist or anti immigrant I just worry about where we are headed as a country it feels increasingly police state.

Wildswim · 20/03/2021 18:29

Fair play to them. I'd join if I was in London.

Sir Patrick Vallance says previous protests didn't lead to spikes.

This was exactly the reaction in Irish media to the Dublin protests. Sneery, middle class dismissal. Very classist and elitist.
Doyoumind · 20/03/2021 18:34

Well, I think they are idiots.

I saw on Twitter someone claiming the bus drivers were showing their support by beeping their horns. I see the video. They were beeping them to get them out of the middle of the road.

Outdoors transmission is less likely but not impossible. They are close enough together and for long enough for it to happen because they aren't being at all precautious.

I have suffered hugely financially thanks to Covid. I still think they are wrong.

MaxNormal · 20/03/2021 18:37

Even the ones high fiving and showing thumbs up?

lljkk · 20/03/2021 18:39

The fundamental right to protest only exists if you agree with their cause...

London protest
Delatron · 20/03/2021 18:40

It will be an interesting analysis on human behaviour after all this. The government were told we would only comply with one lockdown. Now look at us all. It’s like we’re institutionalised.
Good for those protesting. I’m not in London but would join if I have was.

Delatron · 20/03/2021 18:43
