So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

You can! Dh is 44 and he is now eligible. Unfortunately the nearest centre open is over 20 miles away so he is going to wait and keep checking but very exciting that it is possible......
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/04/2021 17:56

813k people have had their 1st jab

Fantastic! Does anyone know where we can see the percentages for all the other age groups? I would love to know!

buttery81 · 22/04/2021 21:36

Also... 63% of the entire adult population have now had their 1st dose. And 21% have now had both doses!

yellowspanner · 22/04/2021 22:26

Those numbers are mind blowing.
I am glad we don't have large numbers of anti vaxxers here.

I’m not sure I can sleep. Dh March 78... will it be tomorrow? I just cheated and pretended to be a health worker. The soonest he could book the first one wasn’t in two weeks, some posters were saying they had booked tomorrow :( so that would mean that we would need to change the flights to visit my family Angry I hope that by the time he can book then there is more capacity. Can’t believe there is no 1st doses to book in Bristol forn2 weeks!!

buttery81 · 23/04/2021 06:40

Me too @yellowspanner. We’re onto a new line with the dark blues I see! Grin

@EasterIssland you can change your postcode around when looking for a centre - because when I looked for mine the ones technically closest were inconvenient for me. If your DH is keen to get it ASAP I would search around until you find an earlier dot even if it means a bit of travel

I saw we could travel and get it done next week not far. But not yet allowed (March 78) to book. Just surprised that Bristol with 4-5 places where they’re offering normally the jabs City wise is completely sold out for 2 weeks! :) I guess it’s a good sign that people are getting their vaccines

yellowspanner · 23/04/2021 09:10

Easter,
My 40ish family members are all done and they are younger than your DH. They contacted vaccination centres (pharmacies in their cases), and got phoned at the last minute for unused AZ vaccines. They are in different parts of the country but it may be worth a try.

CaveMum · 23/04/2021 13:43

45yo DH done this morning! Still checking periodically to see when I can book in, but not likely for a while yet (39)

Yay🥳

Love it when we get more than 500k jabs❤

larry5 · 23/04/2021 16:06

I had my second Astra Zenica jab this morning so will be in tomorrow's figures. They were doing mostly second jabs at the centre at the Bath and West showground but there were some first jabs going in as well.

Somerset have been doing brilliantly - I think it was announced yesterday that over 65% of the adult population of the South West have had their first jab and the nurse this morning said that people are very keen to have the vaccine. I hope it continues like that.

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 16:20

That’s really good @larry5. I’m in Bristol and the bath one is one of our options as live near bath.
Bath has been doing amazing in umbers as well all the pandemic !

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/04/2021 16:51

The south west has done brilliantly with their vaccinations since the start. Some lovely tales of very dedicated GP practices tooSmile

EasterIssland · 23/04/2021 20:00

My husband got a text from the gp today ! I was more excited than him :). He wasn’t going to book today but I knew they’re doing jabs at the gp tomorrow (I’m volunteering and my in laws are having their seconds )
I asked for his phone, went to the website ans 2 mins later his booked for tomorrow. How dare him take a day to book it :) I think we’ll be ok to travel to Spain without moving the dates

lurker101 · 23/04/2021 20:19

Fantastic! Make sure he gets a sticker 😉
