So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

@Mumoftwoinprimary

Quite a lot of people I know who are getting their first dose at the moment are getting Moderna.
I was going to say that the 2nd doses being given now are going to be Pfizer and Az. So if Moderna is now available and being used for first doses then there shouldn't be any supply conflicts?

Hugo is tweeting about cricket. Does he not realise his mumsnet responsibilities?!?

CaveMum · 19/04/2021 14:42

The Covid Good News account is reporting that NHS England is reporting just 1 death in the last 24 hours.

Granted it is weekend numbers, but that is such good news!

Up by a respectable amount week-on-week.

The first Moderna delivery was tiny - 500,000 doses. And there was an article in most of the newspapers last week about a delay to further Moderna deliveries to the UK, EU and Canada. Sad

I can't believe our lovely Hugo is a man that puts sport before pleasing the ladies in his life😥

Good numbers and 10 million 2nd doses 🥳

FannyCann · 19/04/2021 19:12

My favourite chart for those that like a little coloured in block thingy.

26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March
FannyCann · 19/04/2021 19:15

Given that there are some who will choose to eschew the vaccination and presumably some for whom it is medically ill advised, how many empty blocks do we think will be left in the final analysis?

Bordois · 19/04/2021 19:34

I will go with 9

Does the blue chart include children or are they already eliminated?

Already eliminated. It’s anyone over 18 eligible. I’m going for 10
FannyCann · 19/04/2021 20:06

Gosh. I assume you are all making an educated guess.
I was thinking about 19. Straight guess. Hopefully a pessimistic one!

WombatChocolate · 19/04/2021 21:30

Interesting question about how many will remain unvaccinated.

I’d go for about 17-20%. I feel take up will be lower in younger groups.

I wonder how many will have their first jab and then not turn up for 2nd. There’s bound to be some. So I boost those who lack 2nd jab to 22% to reflect some who someone fall by the wayside after having the 1st jab.

It would be great if we can get to herd immunity and if those most vulnerable are within the ranks of the jabbed. The numbers of the vulnerable so far look very good. I guess it’s too soon to know what younger uptake will actually be...but there will be some behaviouralists who are predicting and strategising to boost uptake.

I love to see a new square shaded on the 100-grid. Great when you get a light blue AND a dark blue one on the same day, but it seems we get something perhaps 5/7 days.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/04/2021 21:37

I still reckon that lot of the people who say "I'm not getting the vaccine" in a defiant sort of way before the opportunity is there will quietly go and get it and not tell the people they made the refusenik noises to that they've done it.

This will be likely to be particularly true if it becomes difficult to go to gigs/pubs/caffs/Mallorca/Disneyland without producing evidence that you have been vaccinated. (Or perhaps medical reasons for not having been?)

I think the second dose uptake will depend on the data we’re provided with within the next few weeks.

If we start to see the numbers of second AZ doses and also get no blood clot reports, those that have received the first one might feel more at ease and go for it.

I can’t find these numbers anywhere though.

DdraigGoch · 20/04/2021 14:21

Another week-on-week increase! The 7-day average will be back at 500k before long!

Thank you to hugo. I may forgive him his holiday and cricket. So long as he doesn't do it again Smile
