26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:17

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

@BunsyGirl

Had my vaccine today...the vaccinator panicked that I was under 30 (as they only had AZ)...I’m 45. Made my day Smile.
Wonderful 😂 Think that would be better than a sticker (almost Wink)
BunsyGirl · 17/04/2021 18:46

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum I got a sticker as well!!

ScarlettDarling · 17/04/2021 19:20

Just discovered this lovely cheery thread! I had my first AZ jab yesterday...felt a bit grotty overnight but lots better now and so grateful to be done.

buttery81 · 17/04/2021 19:52

Deaths are now (well) below 30 per day on average over the last week.

This is good news Mumoftwo, thank you.

It’s fantastic seeing those second dose figures go up!

My mum is due her 2nd jab next week. When she had her 1st jab she was around the 11 millionth person to have it, and it looks like she will be about the 11 millionth to have a 2nd dose as well. Seems they’re right on track! Smile

Shezlon · 17/04/2021 20:06

Had my first jab today, wonderful feeling! Quite a few friends have had theirs this week, we're all late 40s. They seem to have suffered with headaches and fever for a couple of days so anticipating some side effects may arrive tonight.

Parkandride · 17/04/2021 20:36

Lovely numbers!

lunar1 · 18/04/2021 11:46

Really good to see that the vaccine in EU countries is starting to have much higher daily figures. Hopefully we will get to a tipping point soon where there is enough global supply.

DdraigGoch · 18/04/2021 14:41

English total for today is 570,975. Best figure England has seen since the surge five weeks ago. Given that the Welsh figures will be two days worth, how close will the UK total get to 700k today?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/04/2021 15:07

😍

EasterIssland · 18/04/2021 16:06

Similar numbers to yesterday
139k first doses
Ans 500k second doses

Mumoftwoinprimary · 18/04/2021 16:27

Soooo close to 10 million!!!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/04/2021 16:41

Yep missed that 10 million. Oh well tomorrow Smile

Anyway
62% 1st doses
18% 2nd doses
For adults

So all going swimmingly well and tickty boo 🌈

lunar1 · 18/04/2021 17:49

That 18% covers an awful lot of very vulnerable people! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

buttery81 · 18/04/2021 18:46

Fantastic numbers once again!

When does everyone think we will start to see those 1st dose daily numbers getting into the 200,000-plus region again? Not that I’m complaining - 62% of all adults jabbed with their 1st dose is phenomenal. We’re all so much safer as a result.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 18/04/2021 18:54

I was expecting the 1st doses to have started picking up this weekend after the 45s and over getting to book

Like other age ranges plenty of people on mumsnet have said they are booking or jabbed. In the past that has meant a sign of numbers bumping up

🤷‍♀️

WombatChocolate · 18/04/2021 19:04

GPs were told to expect no new deliveries for 1st doses in weeks of 12 and 19 April. That means there will be no new deliveries to GPs over the coming week and until 26 April at earliest. It means 1st doses will remain lower and most appointments will be at sites booked in the national booking site.

I dont think there’s a lack of demand but supply is still low. There have been lots of reports of people struggling to book on the national system because they can’t get the 2 appointments required to complete the booking. That’s because of lack of supply.

2nd jabs have to happen to a very specific timescale and can’t be delayed beyond 12 weeks. 1st jabs have to happen with what is left and if they are delayed due to lack of supply, it’s disappointing, but that’s where the lack of supply has to evidence itself.

Because if low supply it will probably take quite a while to get through upper 40s. In previous weeks over 2.5m new jabs were given as first jabs per week. We now aren’t able to manage more than 1million with the small supply so it might take a while to get to the rollout of lower 40s unfortunately.

WombatChocolate · 18/04/2021 19:09

Despite the lower first doses, it is still a day of over 600,000 doses.

Perhaps we were naieve to think we could deliver the 2nd jabs and continue the first jabs at the same rate as they had been delivered when they were the only ones happening. Noises were made to suggest both could happen at high rates, but perhaps this was overly optimistic.

It could be that we continue with high nos of 2nd jabs for a while until we get to 12 weeks after 1st jabs declined. And then less will be needed for 2nd jabs and the supply can surge ahead with finishing off the 1st does which haven’t yet happened. Essentially, in different phases of the programme we will see high first or high second doses being given, but rarely high numbers of both at the same time.

That we have been able to continue doing a six-figure sum of first doses at all while the second doses were ongoing is a considerable achievement given that the second doses needed to be done at the same rate the firsts had been done. If there had been no gains in capacity the first dose program would be on hold entirely, indeed many people were worried that just that would happen.

669,574 is our best Sunday announcement since March 20th. Slowdown, what slowdown?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 18/04/2021 19:46

Quite a lot of people I know who are getting their first dose at the moment are getting Moderna.

DdraigGoch · 18/04/2021 19:48

Tomorrow or the day after should see the UK pass 15% of second doses (out of the whole population).

55larry · 18/04/2021 20:39

Both Dh and I have got our 2nd vaccines this week having had our first vaccines the 1st and 2nd February having booked after a previous thread saying that over 70s could book without receiving a letter. That was when numbers of vaccines really started increasing.

EasterIssland · 19/04/2021 07:30

Hugo is back today isn’t he

SilenceIsNoLongerSuspicious · 19/04/2021 07:35

As of yesterday, all four parents and in-laws are double-jabbed. The second jab was definitely pulled forward for the younger two (70-75 bracket).

Just waiting for DH’s turn now.

Same here. Both DM and DPiL had their 2nd at about 10 weeks after the first.
EasterIssland · 19/04/2021 08:24

My bil had his 2nd yesterday 9 weeks apart (pfizer )
Fil are having theirs on Saturday 10 weeks apart (az)
