26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:17

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

It will never be that all of any age is jabbed.

That is true. If we could get to 47.7 million adults jabbed that would be 90% of all over 18s. That would be a phenomenal achievement.

Also, I can’t believe we’ve finally reached April 12th - it seemed a long way away when Boris first set out his roadmap back in Jan!

Do people think we’ll see a big rise in cases now we’re starting to open up more? It seems like the schools reopening didn’t have much effect (which is great).

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/04/2021 13:04

Brilliant to see all my local independent shops open this morning. Typically we went there to spend the book gift cards the kids got at Christmas and the book shop was the only one still shut. Apparently they will open up tomorrow 🤦‍♀️

Pearl97 · 12/04/2021 13:07

Do we think it will open to 48/9 tomorrow?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/04/2021 13:08

People are saying it will but until they officially announce it🤷‍♀️

Pearl97 · 12/04/2021 13:11

Imagine when we stop talking about vaccines!!! I can’t wait to never see the booking site again! I mean, I’m 100
Percent pro vaccine, but this has taken over my life 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂

Wonder tho whether there will be any official announcement this week because of Philip, press communications from NHS or Government might be paused til next week
EasterIssland · 12/04/2021 13:39

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/04/2021 14:06

Sunday figures but still quarter of million jabs Smile

So why doesn't NI have a flag? It seems very unfair.

Pearl97 · 12/04/2021 14:34

@Bordois you’re right. Let’s keep talking about vaccines!!! 😍

EasterIssland · 12/04/2021 16:59

Some 48-49 can book now as per another thread

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 12/04/2021 18:12

🥳

BunsyGirl · 12/04/2021 18:13

I’m 45 and have just booked!

PuzzledObserver · 12/04/2021 18:23

Vaccine obsession has provided a much-needed source of hope during a really difficult period, as well as something to keep us entertained.

In the fully-vaccinated post-lockdown world, we will be able to go out and do actual things with flesh and blood people. We won’t need our daily number fix. Please don’t call me fickle if I stop watching the update.

I just checked this link and it’s still saying over 50s - am I missing something?

WombatChocolate · 12/04/2021 18:45

The system usually starts letting people through a few hours before the front page is updated. They are adding vaccine centres and eligibl people as we speak.

It is just a case of trying and seeing. If it lets you through, you’re eligible. It will say you’re not currently eligible if you’re not.

It’s worth trying now and if it doesn’t let you through if you’re upper 40s having another go before you go to bed or in the morning.

BunsyGirl · 12/04/2021 18:49

@buttery81 It always takes them a few days to update the front page. However, if your age group in your area has been added to the system, it will allow you to book. I’m 45 in Essex and I booked my appointment about an hour ago. I’d tried earlier in the day and it wouldn’t allow me. My DH is 43 and it won’t allow him to book yet.

stealthninjamum · 12/04/2021 18:56

I have been obsessively checking the register website for about three weeks. I’m 48 so let it be my turn soon!

Pearl97 · 12/04/2021 19:05

@stealthninjamum ditto. Can you imagine when we don’t have to check anymore. I think my husband thinks I’m having an affair as I’m always on my phone!!!!

stealthninjamum · 12/04/2021 19:25

@Pearl97 I know! My partner is as desperate for the vaccine as me but lives in a different county so it’ll be interesting to see which of us is first.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/04/2021 21:35

It's worth remembering that sometimes it tells you that you have missed your appointment if you have tried and failed to book before; I know several people who have been very upset by that and not known what to do about it. The answer seems to be to ignore it and just go on with the booking.
