So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

I've just gone and and been able to book, I'm late 40s and checked earlier today and wasn't let through so it's definitely been recently updated. Big sigh of relief!

funtimefrank · 12/04/2021 22:05

Stupid question - it let me book but I haven't got any kind of confirmation. I got a slot for 1 may then it went on to ask if I wanted to book my second (I said yes) but it then didn't let me. So I went back and said no and it just went back to the section to
add your post code to find a centre.

So have I broken it or is my first appointment still ok? Will I get a text or something?

Dh got his sorted via the GP (he's over 50) and had none of this confusion. He's blaming user errorWink

DancingInTheDaffodils · 12/04/2021 22:10

North Yorkshire is clearly on the ball, I'm 46 and was vaccinated at the end of March.

Think the doctors surgery rang everyone I know of my age on the same day!

funtimefrank · 12/04/2021 22:18

Thanks @EasterIssland

I went in again and rebooked but picked a different place for my second (which is 30 miles away rather than 8 but hopefully I can move it and if not, still fine to get to tbh). All
done and confirmation received so happy Grin

CaveMum · 12/04/2021 22:39

Just checked DH, who is mid-40s, and it’s letting him book. Of course his typical response was “can I do look at it in the morning instead?” 😤

Mumoftwoinprimary · 12/04/2021 23:16

Current grand total is 39,846,781. Just 154k short of 40 million. That means that we have almost definitely hit 40 million today.

1jan2021 · 12/04/2021 23:21

My DH is in his 40s, eligible to book and won’t because he’s worried about the blood clot issue. How can I persuade him?

DdraigGoch · 12/04/2021 23:29

Wales should be the first constituent nation (as opposed to territory) of the UK to hit 50% of the population tomorrow.

QpopTYUIop9 · 13/04/2021 07:30

Anyone else not received any confirmation - either text or email?
I booked last night and received neither, now worried it might not be booked properly.

EasterIssland · 13/04/2021 07:32

@QpopTYUIop9 if you insert your data again does it come up with the booking info or asks you to book again

Bordois · 13/04/2021 07:41

Vaccination booking page now says 45+ can book.

Thanks EasterIssland - yes it does look correct when I check in “manage bookings” so hopefully all good and just an issue with the comms process

CaveMum · 13/04/2021 08:07

Even more annoyed with DH this morning, he’s tried to book and of course the NHS website keeps crashing due to volume of traffic 😤 It’s taking all my willpower not to yell “I told you so!” at him!

Hi. I am not a doctor, so can only answer based on what I have read.
  1. I believe that there is more chance of blood clots from the contraceptive pill and we still prescribe that
  2. Apparently you are 100 times more likely to guess a four digit PIN number at the first attempt than to develop these blood clots.
  3. You are more at risk from blood clots caused by catching Covid than from the vaccination.
  4. There is still no firm evidence that the clots are caused by the vaccine, though that could change as more research is done.

Hope that helps.

BunsyGirl · 13/04/2021 09:14

@1jan2021 There’s a much higher chance of developing blood clots following Covid than there is from receiving the vaccine. My uncle has had two strokes post-Covid as a result of developing blood clots on his brain.

RainbowCrayons · 13/04/2021 09:33

The Stat that confirmed it to me was the blood clot risk, if it is linked, is about the same as a long haul flight. And I can only hope I will get the chance to do more of those if I get the vaccine!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/04/2021 13:08

You can't use reason or logic, because fear caused by data which has been misinterpreted by the media can't be argued against.

I think the best bet may be to say how unhappy it makes you to worry about him getting covid and having one of the known horrible results from it: distorted taste and smell so that for instance mashed potatoes or lettuce taste of rotting meat to him perhaps for the rest of his life, or multiple strokes, or permanent lung-damage, or serious heart-damage, or any of the long-covid symptoms which drag on and on making life horrible for the people who suffer them. The disease is not just a killer; it can have long-term life-altering effects, and you are so scared of them....

(All of these are true, and have happened to more people than the 79 who have had blood-clots after the vaccine, of which 60 were not fatal.)

CaveMum · 13/04/2021 14:09

DH has finally got himself booked in!

EasterIssland · 13/04/2021 14:17

Hugo forgot about us

Bordois · 13/04/2021 14:25

for a week? who approved his holidays! :D

CaveMum · 13/04/2021 14:44

Well that's just unacceptable!

Pearl97 · 13/04/2021 14:47

Did we approve Hugo’s holiday?

Paddy1234 · 13/04/2021 14:55

Surely holiday cannot be approved on the actual day!
