26.8 million people vaccinated thread started 20th March

Bordois · 20/03/2021 14:17

So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

@Imfedupwithallofthis

Actually, which is correct? Shaded squares say 71% + (probably incorrect), data says 61%, probably correct

Whichever, it is fantastic.

Squares share 61 as well

If we jumped from just under 60% to 71% in a week it would have been very impressive indeed!

The people in the second doses are also count in the first doses percentage aren't they?

EasterIssland · 11/04/2021 17:35

Yeah
Boph · 11/04/2021 17:50

My second dose is due on 20th. I think that might be a record day because the day of my 1st dose, 30th January was over 500k.

Imfedupwithallofthis · 11/04/2021 17:56

My brain has got addled over the past year!!

Agreed, both say 61%

JennyWreny · 11/04/2021 18:55

@buttery81

Thanks @DdraigGoch. Another question (sorry!) Does anyone know where we can find the latest NHS England stats, similar to the ones @Boph posted in the attached post a while ago?

Very good news - roll on 4pm! Grin

@buttery81 I think they are in these spreadsheets -

www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-vaccinations/

buttery81 · 11/04/2021 23:02

We are now over 61% of adults for first doses and 14% of adults for second doses.

61 + 14 = 75.

Meaning that our vaccine program is 3/8 of the way through.

Still a long way to go but we have summer coming, rates are down and those that really needed protecting are now protected. Things are getting better.

Great post, thanks @Mumoftwoinprimary!

And thanks @JennyWreny, I will have a look.

Yes - but the PP has allowed for that by making it a fraction of 200! It’s very good news
buttery81 · 12/04/2021 09:15

It sounds like people in their 40s will be officially invited for jabs tomorrow! So excited as I didn’t think it would happen in April.

EasterIssland · 12/04/2021 09:16

where have you read that @buttery81 and is it anyone over 40 or 48/49?

EasterIssland · 12/04/2021 09:22

thanks buttery, it doesn't say whether it's 40+ or older ages of 40... if it's 40+ then today + 12 weeks it's 5th July so my husband would make it before we fly to see my family on the 15th , if it's much later then it'd crash with the Time we're away , Spain I believe Will accept proof of 2 vaccines to enter without pcr, but then we'd need to change our time away/flights
decisions decisions decision.s

ValerieMorghulis · 12/04/2021 09:26

@EasterIssland when you are able to book it will be worth fiddling with locations and dates if you are able to be very flexible - at the mass vax centres I looked at when booking some were offering the second date at 11 weeks or I think 10.5. I booked mine both together and they are exactly 11 weeks apart

DdraigGoch · 12/04/2021 09:27

Will we hit 40 million doses in today's announcement or will that come tomorrow?

PuzzledObserver · 12/04/2021 09:28

We should pass 40 million total doses given today. Forty million!

Thanks! we live in a big city with a few places where to have the jab (we've one of the super hubs here as well) so will be able to see whether he can get it, if not it'll need to be after the holiday but the problem as mentioned is that if spain is in the orange zone when flying back then we need to self isolate for 10 days so he cant have the vaccine those days.
He's 43 so not sure whether it'll be opened for him anyway tomorrow if they only do late 40s

WombatChocolate · 12/04/2021 09:32

Given continued low supply, it’s very likely that booking will have to be controlled by limiting it to upper 40s to start with, or perhaps in coming weeks via GP invite to older 40s. GPs have been told no deliveries of 1st jabs for this week and next, so anything happening imminently is likely to be at big mass centres via national booking site. Those who check the site regularly and who will travel will get it first in the eligible groups.

Exciting to think some movement is coming, along with the milestones being hit. Good stuff.

tortoiselover100 · 12/04/2021 10:04

I don't get it, 40 million doses, we have population of under 70 million, I'm 43 and me and my friends haven't been called yet, they're still on the 50 plus where I am. Is our island really full of older people? Or are other areas well through the 40's and 30's now?

Most places have already vaccinated 25-30% of their under 50s because of health conditions, jobs or having already started on younger people, when you look at the weekly statistics released
WombatChocolate · 12/04/2021 10:12

But lots of people qualified in groups 1-9 who were younger, because they work for NHS or as carers or because they were CEV or CV or had learning difficulties as adults, or other things. Group 6 alone was over 7m and kept being expanded with people under 65, many of whom would be under 50.

Lots of people occur in the numbers of their age group plus another group too. They get done in the first they qualify for.

buttery81 · 12/04/2021 10:13

@tortoiselover100 there are approximately 31.8 million people in the top 9 priority groups (which don’t include the under 50s other than health care workers, people who are CEV etc). We’ve now done 32,121,353 1st doses, so we’re only just starting on the under 50s. I don’t know how many people are in the 40-49 group but it’s probably at least 5 million!

buttery81 · 12/04/2021 10:17

Actually, does anyone know how many people are in the 40-49 group? It would be interesting to know! Grin

WombatChocolate · 12/04/2021 10:36

I think it’s around 8 million.

Quite likely over 2m of them already done via other priorities....in some areas it will be far more than 20% already done.

Remember those 32m who have already been jabbed isn’t just the first 32million priority cases....lots of them have still not actually been done through hesitancy or disorganisation or whatever. That means lots of younger people have been done to hit that 32m.

I think for the massive cohort 6 or clinically vulnerable (not extremely vulnerable) which also included a range of others too, about 75% have been done. That’s loads who haven’t. Younger people are less likely to take it up or take it up speedily.

It will never be that all of any age is jabbed. Anti-vaxxers, the hesitant and the disorganised and those who can’t have the jab all contribute to those numbers. At the point where all the adult population have been offered it, we will be doing well if 80-85% have actually had it.

yellowspanner · 12/04/2021 10:39

Three of my family members under 50 have been vaccinated because they put their names down to be called at the end of the day if vaccines were over. All 3 were phoned and said lots of other young people were there also.
