So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Everyone needs a rest.

Ja tas tic numbers today - so much for a slump in supply this week. Or did they mean next week?

EasterIssland · 02/04/2021 16:10

Amazing number specially 2nd!

That was what I thought. Slump what slump?

The only slump is first doses because the vaccine minister said weeks ago we would keep up the same rate.

However I can't bring myself to mind this slump because seconds are going great. Plus firsts are still creeping up.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 16:33

Also for comparison with the AZ blood clot figures. Cambridge University academics tracking the Covid outbreak say the risk of dying of Covid for 25 to 44-year-olds is 0.04 per cent - 40 times higher than even Germany's incidence of CVST after vaccination.

DdraigGoch · 02/04/2021 16:38

So once Wales reports tomorrow that's comfortably over 600k doses. I thought that we'd have used up the Indian 5 million by now and be down to just domestic supplies and Pfizer but evidently we're doing much better!

DdraigGoch · 02/04/2021 16:43

We should hit 60% of over 18s in the next day or two, current figure 59.4%.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 16:44

I have always calculated we have a decent stock in warehouses. Plus recently we had that first doses slow down in February. The vaccine minister said it was to make sure enough second doses were kept back.

The next lot of extra doses from India that are now delayed. Are supposed to be padding out first doses. So they didn't need to slow. Sadly that got stuffed but Moderna starting soon will give another little boost.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 16:44

60% of adults! That is fabulous Grin

EasterIssland · 02/04/2021 16:52

Bet my husband is the 99.9999% :)

Did volunteering today. Not as busy as last week but still loads of people. And it was freezing. Hope it gets warmer for those of us that we volunteer outside :)

Baileysforchristmas · 02/04/2021 17:21

Does anyone know the % of 2nd jabs at the moment?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 17:35

Yesterday second doses were 6.8% of the UK population
or
8.3% of all UK Adults

I don't know the percentage from todays reported numbers

DdraigGoch · 02/04/2021 17:44

9.4% of adults

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/04/2021 18:40

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum

The UK has identified 30 cases of rare blood clot events following the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This makes up 0.0002% of the 18.1 million doses given in the UK and is in line with the natural rate of blood clot occurrences.

(From a Times tweet Smile)

Is it? Thrombosis UK on their website say that blood clots are a lot more common than that: thrombosisuk.org/thrombosis-statistics.php reckons that one in four people die of causes related to blood clots.
Mumoftwoinprimary · 02/04/2021 18:52

So in the next couple of days we are going to hit 60% of adult first doses and 10% of adult second doses.

That sounds like two very nice numbers indeed.

Deaths are still falling fast and cases are also going down much quicker now.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 19:20

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

As I said the Times put that on Twitter. I just copied and pasted for some prospective. Thought some people may find the Times a better source than random fact from me. However it is less in general population from what I have read too.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 02/04/2021 19:23

Awesome percentages Mum

Amazing to think we will achieve that this weekend ❤

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/04/2021 16:36

Can't believe we have done over 5 million second doses already 🥳

Not quite there with the 10% of second doses but tomorrow should be the day for that announcement Grin

I love that square block chart. I keep looking to see a complete line. 60% will be such an achievement!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/04/2021 17:20

Me too Fanny! There’s just so much light blue!

lunar1 · 04/04/2021 10:53

I'm in tomorrow's numbers for a second dose. I did a short volunteer shift today and was given it as I was finishing. I can't tell you how busy it's been this weekend. Yesterday was full on with both 1st and 2nd doses, we are doing both vaccines.

buttery81 · 04/04/2021 11:34

Fantastic @lunar1 - hoping for some big numbers later today!

buttery81 · 04/04/2021 11:40

I’m also looking forward to hitting 31.8 million 1st doses. 31.8 million is the total number of people in groups 1-9. It’s also exactly 60% of the entire UK adult (over 18s) population!

EasterIssland · 04/04/2021 11:41
