So with the release of figures as of Friday 19th March over half the adult population of the UK have had at least 1 vaccination.

The number of jabs given is March was phenomenal and its likely numbers will be lower for the next few weeks but even if its "only" 100-200k a day thats still more lives potentially being saved!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 28/03/2021 17:09

Grin 30 million Wine

Mumoftwoinprimary · 28/03/2021 18:31

We’ve also hit 3.5 million for second doses!

From tomorrow I think we are going to see second doses becoming the real focus so time to start celebrating them too! 6% of adults have now had 2 doses which is wonderful for them as they are will include some of our most vulnerable people.

6% sounds quite high already! Looking forward to seeing the 2nd dose numbers ramp up!

yellowspanner · 28/03/2021 21:39

@tootyfruitypickle

I wonder if Modena has less side effects hence they're thinking for children? I'm sure with AZ it's way more than 1 in 10 who have them. They don't last long, but aren't nice !
Most I know have had AZ and most have had 2-3 days of feeling unwell me included. 3.5 days for me
starfish88 · 29/03/2021 03:20

I wonder how that compares to Men B vaccine which also has fever etc as a side effect. It was one I was told to give calpol before and another dose 6 hours after and DS still got a bad rash after his 3rd dose. Still better than the alternative and he was fine after a couple of days.

SunsetGirl · 29/03/2021 07:53

I've had to tell my own child (aged 10) that they will probably give children a smaller dose because their immune systems are better. (Obviously they'll get a proportionate dose anyways.) She was already terrified of having to have a jab and then saw my side effects. :(

DrMadelineMaxwell · 29/03/2021 09:45

They have pushed second doses a lot in Wales already and 13% have had them. Now they need to prioritise them due to a 250,000 shortfall in stock, so new 1st dose appointments are not being made.

SSE Arena in Belfast now open for vaccinations 💉
Nice time lapse video of the centre construction - I haven’t been as excited to see the inside of it since Westlife 2001 😂

Another broken record for a Monday! The surge isn't exhausted yet!

Paddy1234 · 29/03/2021 15:22

Wow! Those first doses are still rising

MissConductUS · 29/03/2021 15:30

Comparable figures from the US:

www.cnbc.com/2021/03/29/covid-19-cases-deaths-vaccinations-daily-update.html

To date, more than 143 million doses of the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the U.S., according to CDC data.

About 28% of the U.S. population has received at least one dose of a vaccine, and 15.5% is fully vaccinated.

U.S. vaccine shots administered

As cases rise, so does the pace of vaccinations. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported three straight days of more than three million vaccine doses administered, including a record of nearly 3.5 million shots reported on March 27.

The seven-day average of vaccine doses administered is now at roughly 2.7 million shots per day.

EasterIssland · 29/03/2021 15:35

The States are doing really well about vaccines, taking into account the population is so big they're going really fast.!

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/03/2021 16:39

I’m getting my vaccine this week, DH the other week, he had no side effects. DP are getting their second dose this week. I feel the end is in sight.
Well done to everyone during vaccinations and organising it.
I know I shouldn’t say but well done the UK.

buttery81 · 29/03/2021 17:48

Fantastic numbers!!! I thought the surge had finished yesterday but clearly not - are we in for another bumper week?!
