Hope social distancing and masks in supermarkets stay

Supermarkets are so much more organised these days. I really hope they keep the perspex screens in supermarkets when this is over.
I'm not looking forward to going back to the hellishh free for all supermarket scrum expeeience that was there pre-covid.
I think showemarket shopping is a much more enjoyable, civilised expeeience under covid.
Anyway, I'm sure the checkout assistants who sit low down don't want to go back to having hordes of customers breathing down on them again.

I don't. I find it rakes twice as long. Because people are dilly dallying looking at items. I know what I want.. I want to grab tm, chuck in trolley and get out.
I normally can do a huge shop in around 20 /30nmin.
Its now 45 to near on an hour.
I'm on a tight schedule in the 3 hour pre school time slot to get stuff done. I don't have time for that shit.
Thankfully one of the aldis and one of the tesco people don't worry about the 2m thing so I tend to go to them.. Bit further drive but still quicker

Chelsea567 · 11/03/2021 21:34

Yeh we love wearing masks for our 8 hour shifts

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/03/2021 21:35

I haven't been to a supermarket since before this all started and I won't be going again if I have to wear a mask, queue or social distance! I get no pleasure from any kind of shopping and it's a hundred times worse in a mask!

Strangekindofwoman · 11/03/2021 21:35

You can wear your mask for ever. I won't be though.

XenoBitch · 11/03/2021 21:38

Hell no. I am unable to wear a mask, so there is no way on earth I would want the tutting, judging and shaming to go on any longer than it needs to. You can wear yours forever if you want.

megletsecond · 11/03/2021 21:38

I hope retailers keep the screens. I think their entitled to keep checkout staff safe from customers.

megletsecond · 11/03/2021 21:39

they're

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/03/2021 21:39

I'll be ditching the mask as soon as we're allowed.

I don't find them any more organised than before. No one really follows distancing at my local supermarket and there's no number control any more.

CeeJay81 · 11/03/2021 21:40

Not the masks but keep the screens up. Might stop us getting some of the customers germs and being coughed on at the till.

GreenShadow · 11/03/2021 21:40

Social Distancing in Supermarket? Really? Not where I live!

toolatetofixate · 11/03/2021 21:41

Nope.

Fuck this current state of affairs.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/03/2021 21:41

If shops keep the screens to protect their staff that's entirely their call, but with masks as well it makes it so much harder if you don't have great hearing. Also I don't understand why you think it's more organised now?

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 11/03/2021 21:42

There hasn’t even any social distancing or organisation in the supermarkets near me since masks were introduced. They’re magic, you see, and stop all infection.

I never want to live in a world where people are seen as potential disease vectors rather than people.

willibald · 11/03/2021 21:43

Keep the screens but nah, ditching the masks and social distancing asap.

LindaEllen · 11/03/2021 21:49

Noooo, the second masks are no longer a requirement, mine will be gone.

Arrowheart · 11/03/2021 21:51

You hope masks stay? Why? The minute they are not compulsory I am binning mine.

IcedPurple · 11/03/2021 21:55

the hellishh free for all supermarket scrum expeeience that was there pre-covid.

Where do you shop that your experiences are so traumatic? By all means wear a mask as long as you like. You might even think about going shopping at an off-peak time to avoid such trauma. Or even get groceries delivered. I'll be chucking my masks as soon as I possibly can however.

BooseysMom · 11/03/2021 21:57

Everyone constantly fiddles with masks anyway and they are vile. You can't breathe and as a pp says they make shopping a horrible experience. I'm ditching as soon as allowed.

HereComesATractor · 11/03/2021 21:58

I used to get deliveries before covid, or I would go on a quiet midweek morning with my toddler and we would chat and he would help find things and put them in the trolley and decide what we were going to have for lunch, it was quite a nice activity really

Downriver · 11/03/2021 21:59

You can't breathe? Oh for God sake. Some people are just ridiculous. I really like masking, actually. Warm and it saves on lippy.

HereComesATractor · 11/03/2021 22:01

I find them unpleasant. I don’t wear lipstick generally. It’s harder to communicate with my small children, but they are even less welcome in public spaces than pre-covid so I imagine many people won’t see that as a problem

Arrowheart · 11/03/2021 22:02

You like masks because they are warm and saves on lippy? Oh for Gods sake. Some people are just ridiculous.
Keepmekeeping · 11/03/2021 22:05

No my mum has bad hearing and lip reads when she is out so the masks have made life so much harder for her she can't speak to anyone or hear the staff. It's horrible for anyone who needs to lip read.

Mynamehaschanged · 11/03/2021 22:05

Don’t be ridiculous. Who in their right mind would want things to actually carry on the way they are.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/03/2021 22:06

I like the screens but will be glad to see the back of masks. I want to be able to actually see through my glasses!
