What happens about the unvaccinated ?

vera99 · 08/03/2021 03:06

There is a lot of speculation about how many will buy into the continuing vaccination program. Some has said 20% won't but I'm sure it will be less than that. We don't know any would be refuseniks. But say it's 10% and suppose Covid will become stronger and therefore potentially more lethal and troublesome will that not lead to many more deaths and hospitalisations amongst this cohort and by doing so threaten the capacity of the hospital's once again ? Hopefully not of course does anyone know of any modelling around that outcome. Therapeutics of course will be of importance to lessen any resultant disease and persuading the currently unpersuaded remains of paramount importance. The stick of no vaccine no travel or no entry will be a great persuader no doubt as well.

Chris Whitty accepted 40 million dollars from Bill Gates to research into the treatment and prevention of malaria

And....?

If this happened it’s fantastic , Maleria is a massive killer. Unless Chris Whitty was trying to insert a microchip?😂

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼To both of them for trying to address a terrible disease.

Devlesko · 10/03/2021 15:07

With so many people arguing unfairness for their position in the vaccination line, there will be no problem with herd immunity.
Plus if it's so effective why are people so worried about those choosing not to have it. It's their choice, the general population can't be held responsible for those with higher risk.
It's survival of the fittest, the population can't continue to shield us, we have to make that call for ourselves.
If it means some kids out of school and fewer social meet ups and activities, that's a shame but life.
I'm one whose shielding and not getting the vaccination yet, I don't expect others to protect me, that's my job.

Pensionista · 10/03/2021 15:37

PuzzeledObserver,

I never said YOU called me selfish, but there are people on this thread calling people that don't want to have the gene therapy 'selfish' I think they are 'selfish' expecting people to take a brand new, still in trial vaccine, injected into their bodies when there is no guarantee of safety now and in the future. If there was, why do these Pharma companies want to take out indeminities against being sued in case of adverse side effects ? You give anecdotal examples of 'friends, family medics, neighbours etc all wanting to take the gene therapies. I have no problem with them wanting to do that as it is their choice, I to want to have the choice to wait before I do. These anedotal examples are not evidence for or against the vaccines . I to could give similar examples, but prefer to check, and research from credible scientists. If there is a danger of hospitals being overrun, why has the government decided to disband the Nightingale hospitals ? You would have thought the opposite would have happened. No you didn't badger me to have the vaccine, but you dismissed a link I gave you, before you read it, then proceeded to cherry pick one thing that was not relavant to what we were discussing. Every one has a right to their opinions on this, but you did say you called bullshit on a creditable scientist .

Jaxhog · 10/03/2021 15:45

@OpheliasCrayon

I personally am waiting to be stood up against a wall and shot at dawn because I have turned down the offer of a vaccine twice.

And also I think you need to be realistic, there will easily be 20% that don't , probably more. I have legitimate reasons not to have it, but quite frankly if someone doesn't want a vaccine they shouldn't have to have it, whatever the reason

Can I hold the gun then? Shock

You're like the person who gave me whooping cough a few years ago and put me out of action for 6 months. Too many people then were saying 'oh it's not too serious, I don't want to bother. (I didn't know I hadn't been vaccinated as a child).

I can understand people having genuine concerns, but most are just bellyaching about their civil liberties. News - you don't have them if you're dead of Covid.

This is an interesting article particularly in regard to the comments from a WHO insider:

Ihatefish · 10/03/2021 16:05

I suspect it will be like flu, people will die in manageable numbers

Wellbythebloodyhell · 10/03/2021 16:06

can I hold the gun then?

@Jaxhog you'll find that @OpheliasCrayon has stated many times on different threads she's turned down the vaccine for valid medical reasons , not so she can willingly infect judgemental arseholes like you with whooping cough and such like. Take your head out your arse for a second and realise that for some the choice of having the vaccine or not isn't the same for everyone!

bumbleymummy · 10/03/2021 16:09

@Jaxhog so you were unvaccinated but you're blaming someone else for giving you whooping cough? Hmm Immunity from the pertussis vaccine wanes anyway so it's very possible that the person you contracted it from had been vaccinated when they were younger but were no longer immune.

PuzzledObserver · 10/03/2021 16:11

@Pensionista

As far as I'm concerned, you do have the choice to wait. I am very much in two minds about some of the strategies which have been proposed on this thread such as banning people from establishments. I mean, I can see why people would want to do it, but I can also see downsides.

Re me mentioning my friends etc - I accept it's anecdotal. I guess what I'm trying to get at is, how many/what proportion of medics/scientists are for or against the vaccine? How do we know? You asked me if there was a survey - I don't know of one, but I have never in real life encountered one who was against. How about you - do you know of a real life survey as to to what proportion of the scientists with the right education and experience to understand these things agree with the scientist you linked to, and how many are against?

I made an assumption - but you have too, I suggest. Just a different one.

Ideally this would ALL be about science and evidence. I know I am not qualified to understand one tenth of what was in that paper (can't find the link now) - but there are other people who are. You referred in an earlier post to Government scientists - the MHRA are independent of the Government. Are they all corrupt? Are they all in the pay of some nefarious body which is seeking to poison the human race? Or have they all been duped? Are they not able to see the same evidence and assess it?

I think they are, and they have approved it and that's what I'm going by. Nothing is risk-free in this uncertain world. Another poster suggested that one long term effect of mRNA vaccines would be an increase in rates of cancer. It is already one in two of us who develop cancer at some stage in our lives. mRNA technology was originally being developed as a strategy to deliver targeted cancer treatment, wasn't it?

I wish you well. I have attempted to engage with the information you posted, and drawn my own conclusion. Have a good day.

Why not? It’s a right wing propaganda machine.

Thanks for that. Yes I've seen the video and the rest of the information is interesting. I keep coming across a lot like it, but when I try to post on various sites it gets censored, or I get called the usual conspiracy theorist batshit. Dr. Reiner Fuellmich is again very credible trying to get the information out there. Big Pharma has it's fingers in many pies and you can generally lead back to Bill and Malinda Gates foundation, which I find worrying with a couple with no medical backgrounds as this leads to conflict of interests in a lot of ways with BIG MONEY involved, open to corruption. I know this myself from personal experience. I attended an EMA hearing in London over two years ago on the perminantly damaging side effects of fluroquinolone antibioctics. I was damaged at the cellular level 6 years ago and I with others are still suffering today. The FDA had 4 BLACK BOX WARNINGS , the EMA issued recommendations against these poisonous antibioctics, yet they are still being dished out for minor infections. I then found out that 85% of the EMA's funding comes from Big Pharma. So no, I don't follow any gov scientist, WHO or MRHA because when you follow the money it stinks. That's one of the reasons I research and am cautious about these new gene therapies.

reformedcharacters · 10/03/2021 17:05

Aren’t most of the MSM outlets accused of the same? Dr Astrid Stuckelberger mentioned in the article isn’t.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/03/2021 17:07

I’d love gene therapy. It would get rid of my horrible severe allergies, eczema and various other genetic inheritances.

I can’t have pets due to allergies, if someone offered me gene therapy l’d bite their hand off.

My sister and father died from Huntingdons. I wish gene therapy could have been used for them. I don’t think they would have cared much about ‘experiments’ if it made them live a normal age span and deleted the hideous disease.

TrinidadQueen · 10/03/2021 17:08

My daughter is refusing it. 20's and no health issues. I imagine though that she and her friends will change their minds as despite what the government say, I do think you will have to have the jab to actually live a full and normal life. I don't think that's right but I think that is where we are heading.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 10/03/2021 17:10

Trinidad, l agree.

I’m not sure it’s right but l think it is where we are heading.

PuzzekedObserver,

Here's the link again. You can show it to your medic family and friends if you wish. enformtk.u-aizu.ac.jp/howard/gcep_dr_vanessa_schmidt_krueger/

As for the survey, I was not the one that made a sweeping generalisation about there being more scientists etc in favour of the new vac's, you did. Again as I have said all the way through our conversation, you are entitled to your opinion, conclusion, which you've come to, in spite of admitting you don't understand about how these new gene therapies work. So we will leave it at that. I to wish you well.

I've had the vaccine but for personal medical reasons nothing to do with the impact on the rest of society or being allowed on a plane again, sadly though i agree that we are potentially heading for a scary etiquette for future society. Gilead eat your heart out!
bumbleymummy · 10/03/2021 17:40

Gilead eat your heart out!

I know! I was watching THT during lockdown and thinking how easily things can just slip and slide until you're in a situation that you never thought you'd be in. Back in 2019 if people had talked about the type of restrictions we've been living with for over a year no one would have believed it was possible for so many people to comply so easily. Yet here we are. And now 'vaccine passports' are being suggested to allow people basic freedom of movement. It's quite scary.

Parker231 · 10/03/2021 18:01

I don’t have a problem with vaccine passports. Why would another country who have managed the pandemic well and kept controls on the numbers of cases and deaths, risk other people who are not vaccinated coming into their country. I want to visit my family and having had the first vaccine am hoping for the passports to be in place by the time I have the second.

Vaiana · 10/03/2021 18:19

This is bonkers. Why do I have to be vaccinated to protect YOU? It's always been about personal protection. If you have HIV for example and go to see the dentist you don't have to tell him about being positive. The responsibility lies with the other person. Do you routinely question people about their medical conditions and their vaccine status? You do realise that there are far worse illnesses than covid and yet we continue to live our lives. Guess why? BECAUSE IT IS YOUR JOB TO PROTECT YOURSELF. Not someone else's.

murbblurb · 10/03/2021 18:34

let us hope the poster above does not find out the hard way that in some cases, covid is the worst thing you can get.

and keeps a solid two metres away from everyone.
