..can they fuck.

There maybe plenty of reasons why they have too but to lie that it's safe is deplorable.

Masks are required in classrooms where social distancing not possible, which is therefore pretty much all classrooms. Not required for PE

@ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown

life is too short to even engage with the moaners Anna you're not practising what you preach hen.
True Grin they just suck the life out of everyone but moaners are really good at starting threads and repeating the moans/hyperbole/emotive exaggerated language et al

I must try harder (100 times)

MsMarvellous · 22/02/2021 17:48

We've just had a kitchen dance party to celebrate. The kids are so so happy.

Agree @MummaPI

you are right

spread the positivity around

Mine are so looking forward to seeing friends in the flesh

Chloemol · 22/02/2021 17:51

Oh go away

If you don’t want to send your kids back then don’t but we have plans in place so if necessary we can delay the next stages after, bu5 we need to start somewhere

Regulus · 22/02/2021 17:51

Interesting to read that so many pro school are delighted but accept its not safe. My issue is that Boris declares it safe. It isn't.

I will personally be wanting to greet my class in the playground wearing a party hat and blowing a one of those party whistle things.
Another term like the last one would probably push me just over the edge into a breakdown.

cherry2727 · 22/02/2021 17:52

@Abraxan certainly not! I agree that parents have a responsibility to ensure that their kids respect staff and peers however I believe my comment was drawn as mom of a 5 year old . For those young kids who have been neglected due to having working parents it's almost impossible to get those kids straightened up within the next two weeks! Of course I'll try my best and I think I did my best but it will take some time before everyone and everything goes back to what we know as normal and this include their behaviour! It's been such a rollercoaster for kids surely there will be some unrest initially .

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 17:52

@Chloemol I'm a teacher and I'm not sending me back, so 300+ students just lost their teacher. All for the sake of a vaccine.

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 22/02/2021 17:52

How many times?

The ONLY criteria for order of priority in receiving vaccines is likelihood of serious illness or death (except for NHS/carers who are exposed to massively more virus than teaching staff).

If teachers were prioritised over older or more vulnerable people, there would be MORE DEATHS.

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 22/02/2021 17:54

I'm quite surprised that teachers, who by definition you might expect to have some intelligence and follow the news, can't seem to grasp this.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 17:54

@Regulus we all want to be back. But no one can say it's safe, otherwise we could just abandon social distancing everywhere. As an older teacher I can't risk it now. Which makes me v v sad as I want to be back fully with my students. But what would you do in my shoes ? I'm vulnerable and so close to a vaccine.

SqeakyHindge · 22/02/2021 17:55

Child's class has over 60% attending already, could hardly hear the 1/2 online class lesson this morning.

It's not the 'I need to get rid of my kid', it a case I suck at teaching and I fucking hate long division and that just for starters! Work sheets, work sheets, youtube videos and watch this slide and that slide, print this off. Fuck sake its bad enough that supposed to also have craft crap like have shares in hobbycraft to make some fucking crap to photo because its 'fun' time. Oh dress up themes still fucking happen too.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 17:55

@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue I'm a 53 year old vulnerable teacher. I have no vaccine yet. Or even an invite. Explain why I should go back with no safety measures please ?

I think you need to repeat 100 times a day and there will still be those tone deaf ones that say you are wrong....

CEV and CV teachers are now being vaccinated in many parts of the country. Infection rates have fallen massively and continue to fall. Amazing stats from Scotland over how effective the vaccine is....

More and more people are smiling and looking forward....

cherry2727 · 22/02/2021 17:56

@mumsneedwine and @sd249 - I am pleased that schools will reopen however I am surprised at the fact that teachers have not been offered the vaccine . Albeit most teachers who come under the vulnerable group should have been offered the vaccine and I'm guessing the assumption is that if you're not clinically vulnerable you stand a grafter chance of surviving the virus.

SqeakyHindge · 22/02/2021 17:57

ps. our school was never 'safe' its too small its old building and classes are at max capacity

year5teacher · 22/02/2021 17:58

@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue

Nah, we’re all really stupid and went into teaching for the holidays, indoctrinating the children into the radical left and nothing else. Haven’t you heard?!

Obviously teachers like myself, in their 20s and with no health conditions shouldn’t be vaccinated before CV people. I’ve said in many threads that mass vaccination of all scho staff won’t have much of an effect at all on hospitalisation rates or community transmission.
I do massively feel for teachers like @mumsneedwine, though, and I don’t understand how someone couldn’t see her POV.

Ltdannygreen · 22/02/2021 18:00

Thank god... homeschooling is not my forte...
for both of my kids I’m happy I am quite frankly a shit teacher - except at maths 😂 that I can do very well.
In all seriousness though I’m glad for my son also. He’s already behind, he has asd and has struggled with routine changes the last year. Although he was allowed to go to school due to being vulnerable they couldn’t offer his usual setup so we collectively decided it would be less stressful if he stayed at home until they can get his teacher back ( she teaches him and 2 others with complex needs)

JM10 · 22/02/2021 18:02

As a previous poster said, I can't wait, they can't wait. If people genuinely don't think their children will be safe in school then they should keep them home.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 22/02/2021 18:03

Fivefoottwo as I'm sure you know, there are many now-vaccinated health and social care staff who don't set foot over the threshold of their own doorway never mind have increased exposure to Covid cases.

FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue · 22/02/2021 18:05
@FiveFootTwoEyesOfBlue I'm a 53 year old vulnerable teacher. I have no vaccine yet. Or even an invite. Explain why I should go back with no safety measures please ?
If you're CEV you should get a vaccine invite very soon.

Rates are much lower therefore the risk is lower.

Your school should already have implemented safety measures. If it hasn't then it's at fault. If you're very worried then speak to your headteacher.

RaisinforBeing · 22/02/2021 18:05

Is the ‘bubbles’ system in schools being kept? I noticed that after school clubs / sports being allowed to return but surely a bubble of 30 bursts at this point? Talking about primary mainly I suppose.

TrustTheGeneGenie · 22/02/2021 18:11

@mumsneedwine

I don't give a shiny shit about how I sound. I won't be going back under these conditions as it's not safe for anyone. Section 44 handed in 10 minutes ago. Lockdown 4 here we come. And if you really believe there will be no more isolations then you are naive. Poor year 11 & 13 are going to be totally stuffed if they have to isolate again.
Oh dear.
