..can they fuck.

There maybe plenty of reasons why they have too but to lie that it's safe is deplorable.

I’m pleased they’re going back

littlepeas · 22/02/2021 16:25

It’s amazing news! We can’t wait.

Popcornriver · 22/02/2021 16:26

Disagree it's not safer now than it was when we went in lockdown. That really depends where in the country you are. Local rates in my area were 800 per 100000. Now they're below 200. Not sure how long rates will be low though with this 'big bang' of sending them all back.

IcedPurple · 22/02/2021 16:27

So just keep your kids at home staring at screens all day until you decide school is 'safe' OP.

SvenandSven · 22/02/2021 16:27

I really think it depends on levels of infection in your area.
Both mine had no time off at all between September and December.
Both in different secondary schools only ds school has had cases and only 3. Ds year 11, Dd year 8.
My ds has been in school throughout this lockdown (in a special school).
I have no issues at all sending dd back in and really think she needs to be back in.

mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 16:27

Oh bless. Parents who think this will be like normal. We tested our KW students today and 2 bubbles had positive cases so they and the staff in them are now isolating for 10 more days. Off we go again for he in our education game.

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 22/02/2021 16:27

@mumsneedwine

Teachers are no more at risk than anyone else ? Shane today's ONS data proves this v wrong.
Could you link to this? Been trying to find this out for ages as so important
TheKeatingFive · 22/02/2021 16:29

A lot more normal than staring at screens all day, yes. Excellent news.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 16:29

For all those telling people to deregister their children. You do realise that this has financial impacts on schools so might result in schools being even more financially constrained that they already are, so will impact your own child's schooling

sweetkitty · 22/02/2021 16:30

Unless your in Scotland!! Got a letter today, stating that although P1-3 went back today (that’s 5-7 year olds) the earliest the rest will go back is March the 15th. Our Easter break is 2 weeks after that so they will potentially be in school for 2 weeks then off for 2 weeks Confused but right now I’d take that.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2021 16:30

Apart from when they have to self isolate again @TheKeatingFive

I think (and hope) this is a short term thing given what we're currently listening t o. How relevant will cases continue to be so long as hospital and death are low........
Delatron · 22/02/2021 16:30

Well considering in December cases here were 800 per 100000 and we had no bubbles burst in either school I’m pretty hopeful that in a town with less than 3 cases (just checked) we’ll be ok!

IndigoJewel · 22/02/2021 16:31

ParadiseLaundry · 22/02/2021 16:31

We are so happy they are going back.

I'm so pleased it's ALL kids too as they all need it. Mine is reception age so I was more concerned about his lack of socialisation than the lack of education but it's definitely time for them to be back.

That sort of condescending bullshit doesn't make you look as superior as you think it does.

I suppose you have seen that vaccination is reducing hospital admissions in Scotland by around 90%? There's no reason to think the data would be any different in the rest of the UK.
TheKeatingFive · 22/02/2021 16:33

I never know why this is presented as a ‘gotcha’.

I’ll take the possibility of remote learning over definitely remote learning any day.

Toelopeornottoelope · 22/02/2021 16:33

Woohoo! Best news.

freddiesmoustache · 22/02/2021 16:33

@Quit4me

It will be safe for the vast vast majority of people now that the vulnerable have been vaccinated. That doesn’t mean that many won’t get covid, they will, but they will still be safe, even with covid
The vulnerable are still being vaccinated. My group 6 DH hasn't been called yet.

Urgh.

Amazing the amount of posters who open a thread in order to complain about the topic. Might I suggest a little less screen time?

Me tooooo! I’ve been at school the whole time anyway sitting in a room of kids. We know it’s not ‘normal’ it wasn’t ‘normal’ when they went back last time.
mumsneedwine · 22/02/2021 16:36

I don't give a shiny shit about how I sound. I won't be going back under these conditions as it's not safe for anyone. Section 44 handed in 10 minutes ago.
Lockdown 4 here we come. And if you really believe there will be no more isolations then you are naive. Poor year 11 & 13 are going to be totally stuffed if they have to isolate again.
