21st June - my wonderful mum’s birthday. So fitting.

CovidCrow · 22/02/2021 16:44

@Schoolchoicesucks

Has he said anything about universities? I've not seen anything in the headlines.

He said practical courses in person from 8th March with a review of other courses from end of Easter hols. So online still for the time being.

Chimeraforce · 22/02/2021 16:44

Yeah whatever. I'm still smarting from Christmas being snatched at the last minute.
We've got vaccines which don't stop you catching or spreading it. Fab. 🙄
I'll believe it when I see it.

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 22/02/2021 16:45

Can finally see a light, just a tiny one but it's still a light. Life just seems that little bit brighter when a bit of hope is sprinkled on it.

HermioneWeasley · 22/02/2021 16:45

Four fucking months away! It’s a disgrace. Why are people pleased about this? With one in three adults already vaccinated, what possible justification is there for taking another 4 months to unwind just lockdown - social distancing and masks will still be in place at huge economic cost for hospitality, theatres, cinemas etc.

pinkearedcow · 22/02/2021 16:45

@fromdownwest

Not if you live in Wales and you have Heir Drakeford in charge!
What is Drakeford heir to? Grin

Drakeford is OK. He will be more cautious I expect, but we won't be far behind unless something bad happens. The big risk England is taking is opening the schools in one fell swoop.

menopause59 · 22/02/2021 16:46

Never let it be said that there aren't people out there who are loving vry minute of this and dreading it coming to an end.

Imagine a world where you don't get to feel righteous about Sarah in number 14 going to see her sister, or getting to mentally police other people's shopping baskets for 'non-essential' items like milk. That day might be coming. Prepare yourself.

Couldn't of put it any better myself x

The vaccines stop transmission to quite a large degree and reduce it to a mild illness. It’s good news.
Twatalert · 22/02/2021 16:46

As much as I dread going back to my daily commute to the office....I hope his plan works. This messing about fucks me more than actual lockdowns.... I don't do change well... to now prepare mentally to go back to the office only to be then told again NO...fuck me... I sometimes wonder if I am on the spectrum.

Who said social distancing and masks will still be required after all restrictions have been relaxed?
GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/02/2021 16:47

This is all so positive and exciting!! Schools, haircuts, restaurants and pubs. Did he mention cinemas?

Loopyloututu · 22/02/2021 16:48

But it is fast being proved that they prevent severe illness and death.

Why are some people determined to spread doom, what is wrong with having a hopeful thread for a change?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/02/2021 16:49

'Four fucking months away! It’s a disgrace. Why are people pleased about this?'

Because there's many people that haven't been vaccinated and a variant could take off. I thought we all knew this?

They snatched Christmas because they shouldn’t have ever lifted the November lockdown.

There are as many people in hospital now with covid as when we lifted the Christmas lockdown in the 1st week of December.

It just didn’t fit with what people wanted.

SpnBaby1967 · 22/02/2021 16:50

I'm gonna burn all our masks when this is over!

The modelling from September for this plan of Johnson's is worrying enough, but the modelling for a full unlocking from April is Shock.

I know we all want to hope but also important to remember Johnson is a massive lying so-and-so.

Some of us might actually have to get dressed!

RedGoldAndGreene · 22/02/2021 16:56

We need weather like last year so that people choose to socialise outdoors rather than indoors to help this plan along.
