This is the first time I have actually believed it

Not to piss on anyone’s cornflakes, but this is Boris we’re talking about Grin The well known over-promiser and under-achiever.

Although with the vaccine rollout things are looking up.

@Allmyarseandpeggymartin

I need to get my fat ass on a diet!
That is the fly in the ointment! This is going to be the summer to end all aummers, I want to enjoy it not cover up in uncomfortable clothes.

I'm so relieved. I cannot wait to get my life back. I do not plan to spend ANY time in my house this summer except to sleep. Get me out into the world! Grin

Chaiandkaafee · 22/02/2021 16:04

Oh my! A diet, haircut and some new clothes are needed!!!!

pinkearedcow · 22/02/2021 16:05

@waitingforgranny

Not getting my hopes up. Last year, Bojo said we'd be back to normal within 12 weeks. Then he said xmas. Now he says summer
But the difference is that we have a mass vaccination programme now.

I'm hopeful, I don't think things will change bang on 21st June, but within a few weeks of that date.

I am in Wales, I hope our road out will work to similar dates.

SonnetForSpring · 22/02/2021 16:05

Have to admit, Boris has improved in his delivery. It sounds reasonable. Let's hope all the i's and dotted and t's crossed. It would be lovely to be back to normal by August.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 22/02/2021 16:05

@Donoteatthekittens

And back into lockdown for autumn / winter. 👍🏻
Haha, it didn't take long did it!!
islockdownoveryet · 22/02/2021 16:05

I think it’s the news we all wanted / needed to hear. Just a few more weeks of staying home before we can start getting back to normal . I don’t want to get my hopes up but I’m excited .

Absolutely this. Anyone remember when it was all going to be over by Christmas?!

I'm normally a homebody but I'm sick to death of my 4 walls. Even the tedious and annoying bits of 'real life' sound enticing at this stage.

I don't think that will happen. Maybe short firebreaks, though.

Oh me too. I felt I was like Sleeping (not so-) Beauty last year, stagnating my life away
Thepilotlightsgoneout · 22/02/2021 16:08

Last year, Bojo said we'd be back to normal within 12 weeks.

No he didn’t. He said that they hoped to ‘turn the tide’ on the disease within 12 weeks.

(Which they did but only temporarily as we now know)

Never let it be said that there aren't people out there who are loving vry minute of this and dreading it coming to an end.

Imagine a world where you don't get to feel righteous about Sarah in number 14 going to see her sister, or getting to mentally police other people's shopping baskets for 'non-essential' items like milk. That day might be coming. Prepare yourself.

MiddleClassMother · 22/02/2021 16:09

I'm just glad the kids will have all their friends in school!

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/02/2021 16:09

I think many of us won’t believe it until it happens.

It's true, but I have decided to be an optimist. By August I think things will be much,much better.

AngeloMysterioso · 22/02/2021 16:10

Today’s announcement changes nothing for me, I’ll believe it when I see it... I have no faith whatsoever in this government keeping its promises.

Changemaname1 · 22/02/2021 16:10

Can we just have one thread that is good vibes only pleasssse !!!

Also feeling a little more optimistic here Smile

korawick12345 · 22/02/2021 16:11

Feel the exact opposite. Three more months until I can see my family in any meaningful way yet expected to put myself at risk at work for months before that. Months before any changes that will be positive for my situation. Overall I feel worse than I have done previously.

Oh piss off with this. People who are concerned about whether this is likely to go as planned aren’t lockdown lovers. There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about whether this is going to go according to boris’ timeline.

zen1 · 22/02/2021 16:12

I really want to believe it.
