@Allmyarseandpeggymartin

I need to get my fat ass on a diet!
This made me laugh as I thought the same as I need to seriously get rid of the lockdown weight before going back to the office Grin

Surely the dates given are not before dates and only if the four conditions are met

Angrymum22 · 22/02/2021 16:57

Well my DH will have no excuse this year for not getting me a birthday present or taking me out. I had a lockdown birthday last year, all being well the shops and pubs reopen on my birthday this year. Poor DSis will celebrate a second lockdown birthday.
As a healthcare worker, work has been almost back to normal bar the extra PPE, but we have got used to it.
Best of all DS16 is going back to school and will hopefully be able to celebrate the end of yr 11 in a non socially distancing manner. It would be great if yr 12 can join with them for their prom since they missed out last year.

You're right, these are the earliest dates if the preconditions are met.
StCharlotte · 22/02/2021 16:58

Blimey. If it all works out, my DH is going to have the biggest birthday celebration in history as it's on 21st June!

megletsecond · 22/02/2021 16:58

pretty he's giving mutations a good chance. We'll be on vaccine catch up come December.

ConeHat · 22/02/2021 16:59

Let's hope it's the end for good come June. Cynically it's a long way off still and plans have changed in the past.

I still hoping for the best but expectations are low in case it all goes TU I'm not going to be disappointed.

I think I will trudge on as I am. I have already booked holidays from April. Looks like my Easter and half term.hidays wont go ahead but August and October might.

Nothing changes until I see it for me

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/02/2021 16:59

'Sound the Doom Klaxon - GetOffYourHighHorse has arrived!'

Tbf my earlier post did say exciting news. I was merely responding to someone moaning that it wasn't all fast enough.

Beaniecats · 22/02/2021 17:01

@HermioneWeasley

Four fucking months away! It’s a disgrace. Why are people pleased about this? With one in three adults already vaccinated, what possible justification is there for taking another 4 months to unwind just lockdown - social distancing and masks will still be in place at huge economic cost for hospitality, theatres, cinemas etc.
And unlocking hasn't happened yet...
Angrymum22 · 22/02/2021 17:01

I’m sorry if I don’t join in with the doom and bloomers. I have remained optimistic and positive throughout. Accepted the restrictions and strict working practices, but enough is enough. The vaccination works and we cannot stay in lockdown forever. For a large proportion of the population it has been business as usual, the rest of you are just going to have to put your brave pants on and venture into the real world again. Obviously take care but you can’t hide under your stones forever.

whatisforteamum · 22/02/2021 17:04

So exciting to read this on the BBC.😁Tbh I don't do anything like go to pubs or cinema s or hairdressers or meet up with people outside my family but it is an emotional day to realise others can do these things.June 21st will be an amazing day for sure.

Fair point GetOff

Doomsdayiscoming · 22/02/2021 17:05

I find it funny that people say “ah yes but once everyone mixes again it’ll be chaos”

Went to a country park yesterday. Literally dozens of pairs of families mixing.

This ain’t the lockdown that is crushing the virus.

Orangeblossom1977 · 22/02/2021 17:05

I wonder if we will look back on this and be like remember that madness when we all stayed home and some people turned into covid stazi etc

Orangeblossom1977 · 22/02/2021 17:06

Also I was very happy to see gyms (pools i guess) open from April as well

PenguinIce · 22/02/2021 17:07

Chippy tea tonight to celebrate and a glass of wine to toast Boris later. Yes I know what he has said might not happen but just for tonight I am going to pretend it is a dead cert. Roll on freedom 🎉

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/02/2021 17:07

'I’m sorry if I don’t join in with the doom and bloomers. I have remained optimistic and positive throughout. Accepted the restrictions and strict working practices, but enough is enough'

Yes quite right, enough is enough hence the steps out of lockdown.

Don't think any one of us needs to put our 'brave pants on' I'll be at the pub as soon as it's open and booking holidays asap.

CherryColouredTwist · 22/02/2021 17:08

I really want to be happy but right now I just feel a bit numb.

I need what he says is going to happen so much but I’m so so scared we’ll have another winter like 2020/2021 and I just don’t know if I can do that again...

RedcurrantPuff · 22/02/2021 17:09

I just hope it doesn’t go wrong, it would be amazing if this all works out.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/02/2021 17:09

Feeling really really happy and optimistic.

Roll on Summer!

doubleshotespresso · 22/02/2021 17:13

@MarshaBradyo

It’s a good plan
No it's not it's bloody reckless
lazylump72 · 22/02/2021 17:13

@user1471505494

This. They're the absolute earliest dates if nothing goes wrong. Cos they have a reputation for everything going right don't they. Sending all the kids back en masses, I'm already waiting for Step 2 to be detailed and pushed back. .nice dates so we all toe the line except for those who never have or who are declaring they won't if schools go back so it won't go to plan
Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/02/2021 17:15

@doubleshotespresso what is reckless about it?

ExcusesAndAccusations · 22/02/2021 17:16

I was a bit depressed at first because this all seems so far away, but actually this approach of loosening up one area, waiting 4 weeks for the data on what happens and one week to interpret it then moving on to the next stage of opening up if nothing bad has happened sounds like the first properly grown-up and responsible action all year from this government.
