Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

@Autumn101

So happy!!! And I think it should be ok to meet family after 29th if we travel a bit?? My parents are 3 hours away and we were meant to be staying nearby which looks like it won’t happen but meeting in a park halfway between us with a picnic would be lovely!
That's right @Autumn101

Also. I'm staying off the main covid board as I'm feeling happy and don't want them pissing on my chips.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 16:20

@ILookAtTheFloor

It was better than I thought! So happy Covid Zero off the table for one thing.

Boris was looking sexy with his hair long GrinGrin yes I know not to everyone's taste!

Have you had the jab recently? Is that one of the side effects? If so I change my mind I don't want it😁
OrangeBananaFish · 22/02/2021 16:22

Can I declare today a good day?

Now just to stay away from the rest of MN so they dont bring me down. I would like a few hours of happiness before someone comes along with but......

10000 allowed into football matches possible from 17th May.
Last home game of the season for us is Saturday 15th May. Hoping it gets Skyjacked to the Monday night.

VoyageInTheDark · 22/02/2021 16:25

Just came here to see people being happy about Boris' 21st June announcement! I can only imagine how apoplectic with rage the rest of the covid board is Grin

carolinesbaby · 22/02/2021 16:26

@Thedarksideofthemoon30

Same with my oldest! She can’t wait to start horse riding again!
The riding made such a difference to my Dd last year. Another 5 weeks? Better than 5 months I suppose. Though I must make a confession and say that after she spent the whole of half term in her bedroom, refusing to get dressed let alone shower, and barely waking up before midday, she has come home from school (year 7 KWcare) today cheerful and I let her go out again even though I knew she was meeting 3 friends in the park.
InterfectoremVulpes · 22/02/2021 16:27

So uk holidays at Easter are a no go then?

Emlemily · 22/02/2021 16:27

I'm actually feeling a bit more optimistic about my job now. We'll lose most of Easter, but get the last week albeit only one household only. Provided all goes to plan, I think we can make it through. No more lockdowns though, please!

louisejxxx · 22/02/2021 16:40

Did anyone else have a lump in their throat while watching?

louisejxxx · 22/02/2021 16:43

I’m now even more thrilled because I’ve just realised if all goes to plan then my year 6 ds will be able to have a “normal” transition day at whatever his secondary school is (due to take place beginning of July I think) as well as have all the normal leavers activities, one last primary sports day etc 🥺

starfish88 · 22/02/2021 16:43

My predictions were strangely accurate! I had the 15th rather than the 12th but the stuff happening then I got right. I had the beginning of May but less stuff in my step 3 equivalent. And to think this shit could be gone by the end of June. I bet there is so much frothing over there. Dare I venture? Grin

FourTeaFallOut · 22/02/2021 16:48

I was just fine until..."A wretched year will give way to a spring and a summer that will be very different and incomparably better"...and then I had a lump in my throat.

OrangeBananaFish · 22/02/2021 17:01

So now I need parkrun to return and to find out about what's happening with Yr11 DS and his GSCEs replacement

@OrangeBananaFish

I dont get golf being held off. You're going to be allowed to meet a friend for coffee or a picnic outside yet not allowed a game of golf with that friend. I'm saying that as someone who has never played (apart from crazy golf which I'm absolutely crap at)

This really made me laugh!

And thanks for the new thread.

I'm trying to calm my expectations that we're going to have great weather this year. It really was pretty unusual that we got lovely weather for Easter and the summer last year.

I am not one of those Mumsnetters that loves autumn and winter and goes on about the snuggles with hot chocolate at this time of year. I love long, long days of sunny summer; eating outdoors etc.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:01

So relieved about schools and secondary with masks. So hopefully that will keep both sides fairly happy. Maybe? Perhaps? Ok who am I kidding. Some are still going to be negative.

I am a little negative myself as one of my eldest runs a restaurant. Not opening properly in April isn't going to work. Just hoping financially they can hang in there.

Anyone worked out how we are supposed to sort growing kids school uniform in two weeks with retail only online 😂

FourTeaFallOut · 22/02/2021 17:03

Yes, masks and twice weekly lateral flows. Brilliant.

I think it's going to be a case of ordering lots of sizes and returns?

BBCONEANDTWO · 22/02/2021 17:04

@louisejxxx

Excellent news from Scotland - I hope the EU countries enjoy their taste of humble pie, they’ve made themselves look like idiots. (And no - I didn’t vote for Brexit! 😅)
First of all thanks for the new thread.

Secondly - what is the excellent news from Scotland??

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:05

All those threads yesterday saying schools were doomed and boris wasn't listening to teachers. That secondary schools needed safety measures like masks

Well guess what folks he listened 😉

Omg yes! I have a y6 too.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:10

Sorry couldn't help it but would be the icing on the cake for me

The data from Scotland shows AZ is just as good if not better than Pfizer. Both have driven down hospitalisation in the elderly brilliantly

NeedingCoffee · 22/02/2021 17:10

Sturgeon has resigned Grin

Giggling at Sturgeon resigning. That’ll be when he’ll freezes over.

But the main good news was that a study showed that the vaccines lead to approx a 90% reduction in serious illness (and that the AZ one performed even better than Pfizer)

NeedingCoffee · 22/02/2021 17:11

Why did autocorrect turn my hell into he’ll?!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/02/2021 17:13

Its better than I had hoped - Roll on 17th May for indoor mixing and restaurants. Fingers crossed for a warm 5 weeks before then for barbeques in gardens. And please, please no one stop parkrun coming back for Easter Saturday - totally set out in the guidelines as allowed.

I just realised this means we can probably have a proper end to the school year with mingling parents and prize givings etc and maybe the kids will be allowed summer end of year parties. It is all so exciting.
