Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

The Daily Fail has got a load of very positive graphs around infection rates and vaccines. (I know, but there's no paywall). Cheering stuff.

Lost you ! Checking in

MarshaBradyo · 22/02/2021 17:38

I just watched Boris Johnson

Man it’s good to hear the lifting

I have no words for how I feel

Except thank god for scientists and the vaccines

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:40

It is brilliant that the year 6 kids and the sixth form leavers will be able to have a great good bye to their old schools ❤

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:44

So with the AZ news. Is it ok for me to make a Told You So type picture and slap it on posters that were arguing with me about it for weeks. Do mumsnet have rules banning such childish behaviour 😜

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - do it!
FuzzyPuffling · 22/02/2021 17:47

I genuinely don't know how I feel.
Thrilled for my grandchildren (primary age) who all want to be in school as do their parents (key workers anyway, so now a huge change). Not so thrilled for my DD, a teacher. Although she's desperate to go back and teach normally.

And we have lost so many friends in the past year, through the lack of understanding of shielding and all that that has meant, I'm really not sure if I have anyone left I want to see, (at least not locally)which is weird.

We've just talked about going back to church. We like St Zoom's and for once I have no responsibility, especially for the music. Which I like.

I've not been in a supermarket or any shop apart from a quick dash to the village shop, for a year.

It's going to take some readjustment, isn't it?

Yes yes yes.
Inastatus · 22/02/2021 17:48

I wonder if there’s any chance of yr 11 DD having a prom night ... it would be so lovely after all the shit they’ve been through.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 22/02/2021 17:51

Ah baby steps for sure fuzzy. Let those antibodies build up for a bit. Then have a jolly at the local supermarket ❤

TheChineseChicken · 22/02/2021 17:54

Oh my goodness, I’ve missed everything! Been looking after the kids all afternoon and haven’t seen any tv or internet. Need to investigate

Racoonworld · 22/02/2021 17:58

So happy, it’s much better than I had hoped. Aiming for total lifting of restrictions 21st June, that’s not so far away. My dd will get a first birthday party.

2020CanDoOne · 22/02/2021 18:01

Checking in. Gutted I can’t see both of my vaccinated parents yet but holding on for a meeting at the end of March. My dd is very happy to say goodbye to lessons by Zoom!

FuzzyPuffling · 22/02/2021 18:18

I want to book a hot air balloon trip for me and DH. That would feel very like freedom.

If you’d have asked me this morning, even with my optimistic outlook, I’d have said no chance to prom.

But after today’s announcement I really do think that could be a possibility! Even if it’s the first weekend in September when they’ve already left or something, it would be better than not at all.

Inastatus · 22/02/2021 19:01

@louisejxxx - oh I do hope so! How are you feeling by the way?

Thanks for this post. I have a good friend who has been shielding fairly seriously (she dog walks in quiet fields and we socialised a bit in her garden over summer as there is plenty of space but that’s it). I’ve been so looking forward to doing things with her again but need to be mindful of these feelings.

I’m hoping for both of you (and all shielders) that it feels normal to be out and about again quickly.

Level75 · 22/02/2021 19:13

So nice to see a plan, even if it doesn't include going on my Easter holiday! I'm feeling fine though as I've just spent all the saved up holiday money from over this year on a trip to the Seychelles in October!

Not read other threads but the subjects of some of them were hilarious. Think there's one called "it's NOT getting better!" or something equally ridiculous.

Level75 · 22/02/2021 19:15

It's "the end is really NOT in sight" Grin

Lol I wonder if it’s one of the regular doomers

Will have a look..

MarshaBradyo · 22/02/2021 19:17

Ha yes it is

louisejxxx · 22/02/2021 19:17

Aww thank you for asking ☺️ I’m feeling pretty ok today actually, not necessarily ill as such, just over tired and a bit achy!

louisejxxx · 22/02/2021 19:18

Oops was meant to tag you in that @Inastatus - it only seems to work for me on mumsnet about 50% of the time Hmm
