Hope no-one minds me starting this. Apologies if another has started too. Please can someone add the pretty pictures.

NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

@Reachersloveinterest re your getting to France; I managed it last year for a week late July. (Was a holiday from hell, mind, but not to do with the pandemic!) I hope the transmission side makes those who are vaccinated more welcome too. From what I can gather, France are a very slow with the vaccines but I’m presuming they can’t shut up shop forever!

feelingverylazytoday · 23/02/2021 16:48

OrangeBananaFish no it's just been suppressed for this year, it will eventually come back again. Animals act as vectors for influenza strains, so it will come back to humans again. It's still good news though, it must be a relief for the NHS. Can you imagine how awful it would have been if flu had been circulating in large numbers? Apart from that, I think we can adapt some of the measures to keep respiratory illnesses at lower levels during the winter season without closing anything down.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 16:55

They realise what percentage of jabs an area is up too. I haven't seen anything that breaks that down into age groups. So you would know what group they are on.

Someone has just posted this on the data thread. Stole it in case anyone is worried about Zoe app recently:

"email update from Zoe, they've recalculated their figures down, the algorithm was muddling the jab side effects with infections.

I'm surprisingly relieved about this! Now around 9000 daily infections according to Zoe."

Inastatus · 23/02/2021 17:22

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - good news for your DH. My DH is nearly 61 (no health conditions) and hasn’t heard anything yet.

FuzzyPuffling · 23/02/2021 17:50

I've been reporting my vaccine symptoms on the Zoe app and wondered how they were going to separate them out from covid infections. But they kindly sent an email explaining that they had recalculated to take this into account. (Although only for three days - tomorrow they'll thunk I've got covid. I haven't)

carolinesbaby · 23/02/2021 17:59

Zoe's charts still look weird. Still showing an uptick in the line when we know cases are decreasing.

FourTeaFallOut · 23/02/2021 18:29

Which areas? Do they correlate to places that have seen good weather? What about tree pollen allergies? Coughing, change in smell, triggers asthma etc.

Crumpetycrump · 23/02/2021 20:18

Bristol still going down nicely on the Zoe app.

I think it's fair to say there has been a huge amount of negativity on this board over the last year. Is anyone else loving seeing a glut of positive threads, suddenly? The mood is really changing and quite right too.

TeaInTheGarden · 23/02/2021 22:48

I’ve stopped looking at the main board...!
Not sure I dare go back there just yet! Hopefully soon ☺️

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/02/2021 23:13

Do you remember back in early March when this woman on the tube made the newspapers.

She seems like a bloody genius now! Also looks like the Oxford vaccine lady😁

@2020CanDoOne

I don't actually like jam so I just have clotted cream on its own like a weirdo.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling the effects Fuzzy.

You would be the perfect person to share scones with, as I don’t like cream so have jam only.
starfish88 · 24/02/2021 02:17

@2020CanDoOne if you like clotted cream but not scones you need to go to Falmouth, on Swanpool beach there is a little ice cream hut that does the best ice cream cones with a thick layer of clotted cream around it and sweets/fruit/nuts on the clotted cream. It is the best ice cream I have ever had.

twinmum2017 · 24/02/2021 07:57

Apparently our town has stopped doing vaccines this week as they were quite ahead and their supply has been diverted to elsewhere to help even things up across the country. This should help in making this a bit more fair.

Cheermonger · 24/02/2021 07:59

I’ve had my jab, my new greenhouse is up and with a fair wind, we might get on holiday end August. What a time to be alive 😍

FuzzyPuffling · 24/02/2021 08:36

I still feel rough. I know this is not good news, and my health circumstances are such that this is very personal to me, don't be afraid of the vaccine, folks, but I am struggling a bit now. I can't spend a FIFTH day on the sofa... it's rotten.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 24/02/2021 08:40

Poor you Fuzzy x

thatgingergirl · 24/02/2021 08:53

I hope you feel better very soon, FuzzyPuffling. Flowers

Pomegranatespompom · 24/02/2021 09:06

@FuzzyPuffling are you able to take aspirin or brufen?

Really hope you feel better soon.

OrangeBananaFish · 24/02/2021 09:49

Get well soon Fuzzy

@feelingverylazytoday

^ Flu has disappeared from the UK, with not a single case detected www.independent.co.uk/news/health/flu-cases-covid-england-phe-latest-b1805124.html?utm_source=reddit.com It looks as if the massive vaccination programme combined with social distancing paid off.
I was questioning of this news because it seemed impossible! But I guess it must be right, just mad to think of NO flu.

@Reachersloveinterest

What do we think my chances of a trip to France in the summer holidays are like? Really would like to visit my parents, but currently can't book because rules still say essential travel only and so insurance is invalid. Can anyone point out any cause for optimism please?
Guess it depends in the summer holidays when you’re thinking @Reachersloveinterest, after June it should be ok if all restrictions are gone? Sorry if I’ve got that wrong, still a bit confused about what is when.
